Well, I'm just going to say it.
This season? Not the best.
Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 8 was not an improvement over the previous, only making the longer-term story more aggravating and uncertain.
There is good news, of course, and it does make you want to pop the champagne.
Lennox is gone. Ding dong, the dingdong is gone.
The guy was, sorry to say, an idiot. He got swept up with a powerful character in the Cfd who offered him who knows what without paying any regard to his own future.
And if the guy wasn't already 100% annoying, he spent the episode contradicting himself.
I'm hoping that we can both be professional about this. Despite what you might think, Robinson is an amazing woman and an inspiring leader. She believes in following protocol, and so do I. Might not always win you a popularity contest, but doing the right thing is...

Chicago Fire introduced a new paramedic during the latest episode. It has already caused drama at Firehouse 51.
It was clear that things would get tricky after Sylvie Brett left the job, but the new Paramedic In Charge, Violet Mikami, couldn’t find a rhythm with the new person sitting next to her in Ambulance 61.
Wesam Keesh has joined the Chicago Fire cast as Jared Lennox. The character seems to know his stuff but also has a penitent for asking questions at the wrong time.
During one call, Lennox let the wife of their patient know that Violet was new to the job. It caused the woman to question Violet’s abilities.
Violet appeared very stressed that Lennox was undermining her, and when she chastised him about it later, she also told Lennox he had received his second strike on the job.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Chicago Fire Season 11 Episode 7 “Red Flag.”] Listen, Firehouse 51 has had to deal with problems and people coming after them before. But there’s something about the latest threat on Chicago Fire that has us especially worried. Following Kara Killmer‘s exit, no one was going to be able to fill Brett’s shoes on Ambulance 61. Even the new paramedic, Lennox, acknowledged that and said he “would never even try.” But before he even showed up, we had reason to be concerned about who would be joining Paramedic in Charge Violet (Hanako Greeensmith), and every single part of the latest episode confirmed we were right to be. Chief Robinson (Laura Allen) not only gave Violet zero input on her new partner or a heads up on who it is, she also didn’t ...

“Maestro” did well at the Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists Guild on Feb. 18 winning two of its three bids. It claimed the prizes for both period/character makeup and special effects races but lost period/character hairstyling to “Barbie,” which was snubbed by the Oscars. Likewise for “Saltburn,” which won both contemporary makeup and hairstyling.
Of this year’s other Oscar nominees, “Poor Things” lost all three of its bids just hours after pulling off an upset at the BAFTAs, “Golda” and “Oppenheimer” were each defeated in a single race while “Society of the Snow” was snubbed by the guild.
These wins boost the odds for “Maestro” to prevail at the Academy Awards. In the decade-long history of these guild honors, there has been just one year when an Muahs winner did not go on to claim the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

The Oscar-frontrunning “Maestro” was the big winner at the 11th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards (held February 18 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel). Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein opus took period/character makeup and special makeup effects. This puts “Maestro” in the Oscar driver’s seat (led by two-time winner Kazu Hiro) against “Poor Things,” “Oppenheimer,” “Golda,” and “Society of the Snow.”
Two non-Oscar competitors, “Saltburn”and “Barbie,” split the other wins: Emerald Fennell’s psychological thriller grabbed both contemporary makeup and hairstyling, while Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar blockbuster snagged period/character hairstyling.
TV winners, meanwhile, were divided among “The Idol” (contemporary makeup), “The Crown” (period/character makeup), “The Last of Us” (special makeup effects), “The Morning Show” (contemporary hairstyling), and “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” (period/character hairstyling).

Updated Designing the costumes for Emma, the Autumn de Wilde-directed adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic period novel, was a balance between staying true to the era (the early 1800s) while leaving room for some creativity and artistic license, says Oscar-nominated costume designer Alexandra Byrne.
“To design a period film, you need to know and research the period, so that you can make decisions to enable the storytelling from a point of view of knowledge, as opposed to a point of ignorance,” she said during Focus Features’ panel at Deadline’s Contenders Film: The Nominees awards-season event. “Autumn [de Wilde] wanted to know everything about the period, she wanted the comedy and the humor to come from period, it was our job to really understand it. We’re not here to be museum archivists, we’re here to tell a story, but I think you can only do that truthfully if you...

After more than two years in development, a reboot of The 4400 TV series has been ordered by The CW. The network gave the remake a straight-to-series order, meaning that a pilot has not been produced.
Airing on USA Network from July 2004 until September 2007, The 4400 series stars Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, Mahershala Ali, Laura Allen, Patrick Flueger, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Chad Faust, Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Samantha Ferris, Jenni Baird, Brooke Nevin, Conchita Campbell, Karina Lombard, Billy Campbell, and Peter Coyote. The story begins as a mysterious ball of light deposits a group of exactly 4,400 people near Mount Rainer in Washington state. These people had all previously disappeared in a beam of light, starting as far back as 1946. None of them have aged since their disappearances nor do they have any memory of where they've been.

"Why are you so angry?" "Why are you not angry?" HBO Films has revealed the first official trailer for the indie film The Tale, a controversial but still very remarkable, important film from filmmaker Jennifer Fox. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews, with many calling it the best of the festival (including me - it really is a stunningly bold work of cinema). The Tale is the true story of a woman who looks back on her youth and a sexual relationship she had with a man who coerced her into loving him. Laura Dern stars as Jennifer, and Isabelle Nélisse plays her as her younger self. The cast also includes Jason Ritter, Ellen Burstyn, Common, Elizabeth Debicki, Laura Allen, and John Heard. This film is unlike anything before it, and is a very courageous, eye-opening look at sexual abuse. It's going to be one...

It’s the Ides of March, and already Netflix has come to bury Caesar. That is to say, the streaming service has already made headway in phasing out some of its best acquired TV shows before even reaching the halfway point in the month: On March 14, seven seasons of Fxx’s animated comedy “Archer” left Netflix.
“Archer” taking its leave is part of the exodus of Fox, FX, and Fxx series from Netflix for Hulu. Most FX series will eventually live on Hulu, with the exception of “American Crime Story” and “American Horror Story,” which have Netflix deals for now, and “The Americans,” which streams on Amazon. But even though “Archer” has already jumped ship, there are still other entertaining series you can catch up on. With Netflix promising (threatening?) to release 700 original series this year, it’s just a matter of time that these other shows are eliminated to make room.

Inside Out notwithstanding, it’s been awhile since cinema attempted to make clowns scary again, or at least use them as the central focus of a horror piece. Cheap make-up, big shoes, colorful hair, and a frilly suit can’t be all that scary anymore, so why bother? After a three-and-a-half-year shelf life, Clown, the Eli Roth-produced directorial debut of Jon Watts — who went on to put out Cop Car before this film’s release and is currently shooting Spider-Man: Homecoming — has arrived with the full intention of rectifying that void and answering that question.
Following in the footsteps of a Grimm fairy tale, Clown tackles the ‘ancient Nordic myth’ of an evil spirit living inside a clown costume that has one goal: devouring children, one for each month of winter. To do so, someone must first don the costume, wherein they’ll begin to transform into a demonic clown,...

It’s hard to believe that a movie like Clown even got made in the first place; the project started out as a fake trailer several years ago, which caught the attention of Eli Roth (because his name was plastered all over it), who then brought the concept to Vertebra Films in hopes of getting the project off the ground for director Jon Watts.
Now, after all this time, Clown has finally arrived in the Us via Dimension Films, and while it could have used a little more trimming (especially in the film’s second act), by and large, Watts has crafted a genuinely creepy and disturbing body horror experience unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I had an immensely good time watching Clown, making it well worth the wait.
Clown follows Kent (Andy Powers), a real estate agent doing his best to juggle a demanding career and his responsibilities to his family.

Clown – Jon Watts’ long-silenced, Eli-Roth-produced possession flick – is despicably vile. Now, for a horror fan, this might come as a vote of confidence, and typically, you’d be right. I love a good horror movie that f#*ks me up in all the right ways, yet Jon Watts’ transformation-gone-goofy crosses a line that becomes less fun and overly morose. Everything suggests a wacky, wild metamorphosis – from a Peter Stormare bit-part to demon-infested clown suit – but this is grimy, gross-out horror with little meaning beyond kill, kill, and kill some more. It’s fun in spurts, but plays too serious for comfort most of the time – a Coulrophobic’s nightmare buried under weak, underdeveloped scripting.

Parents are often driven to only act in ways that will positively influence their young and impressionable children. Unfortunately, at times even their best intentions can fail and ultimately do more harm than good. That’s certainly the case with the married main characters in the horror film, ‘Clown,’ as they try to make their son happy on his birthday with a visit by the title iconic figure. But actress Laura Allen’s well-meaning character soon uncovers the frightening consequences of depending on superficial societal expectations to fulfill a sense of happiness, instead of following her own instincts. "Lure people out of the villages into its cave with his white face and red nose..." The Weinstein Company has debuted a trailer for the horror film Clown, which is directed by Jon Watts, the filmmaker now set to direct the next Spider-Man movie. It's actually based on a fake trailer that Watts originally made in 2012 that included fake credits for producer Eli Roth. Roth actually saw the trailer, got involved, and helped them make a feature version and this is the final product. The cast includes Andy Powers, Laura Allen, Peter Stormare, Christian Distefano, Chuck Shamata, and Elizabeth Whitmere. See both trailers below. Here's the official release...
