In December, we noted the launch of JuntoBox Films' InstaFilm competition, a search for the best short-form video series on Instagram. One month later, a winner has been chosen: Joe Gold's Senior Lovin will take home the top prize. Gold describes Senior Lovin as "Melrose Place with senior citizens." While he's not wrong, I would say his series seems a little more light-hearted than the former Fox drama. After all, I can't remember the scene in Melrose Place where an elderly gentleman pops out from under the covers to turn a session of senior citizen lovemaking into a surprise menage-a-trois. Senior Lovin is ten episodes long, with each installment running for under 15 seconds. There's a coherent narrative linking the episodes, so make sure to watch them in order. If you access them from Gold's Instagram page, this means beginning in the bottom right, not the top left. Scott Allan Perry's KaBOOM took second place,...

"Godspell" actress Morgan James ignited a firestorm on twitter this week after she tweeted a scathing review of Into the Woods at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical -- directed by Timothy Sheader -- stars Hollywood actress Amy Adams and Donna Murphy. Following the first preview of the production James tweeted:
“How can you **** up Into the Woods?? I fear musicianship is dead in musical theatre. And acting, for that matter. #horrified”
James’ tweet was deleted shortly after, but it did not stop fellow Broadway performers from responding directly to her statement. Broadway actor Matt Doyle responded:
Really don't like seeing Broadway actors trashing other shows on twitter. Have a little tact. We're all in this together.
— Matt Doyle (@MattfDoyle) July 25, 2012
Composer and lyricist Scott Allen echoed Doyle’s sentiments: “people read your tweets & you need to be apart of this industry & be respectful...

Last week, 21-year-old Aussie Jacob French completed a grueling trek across his home country. He started last summer and walked 3,000 miles from Perth to Sydney to raise funds for Australia’s Starlight Children's Foundation.
And he did it wearing a stormtrooper costume.
French is a member of the 501st Legion, an international group of costumed Star Wars fans who regularly gather to raise money and awareness for various charities. “Jacob is a great example of the unique characters we get in the Legion,” says Scott Allen, who serves as Charity Officer for the 501st (his current preferred costume is an Esb-era Darth Vader).
Allen explains that the Legion started 15 years ago as an alliance of like-minded folks who enjoyed wearing stormtrooper gear to events such as movie premieres, “just because it seemed like it would be a fun thing to do every once in a while.” Since then the group...
