Lawrence Arancio, in addition to his film and TV work, has appeared in over three dozen plays in New York, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Los Angeles, including "The Usher's Ball," "Drawer Boy," "Awake and Sing," "School for Scandal," "Otherwise Engaged," "Ivanov," "The Nerd," "The Normal Heart," "The House of Blue Leaves," "Good," and "Table Manners." His most recent directing credits include two new musicals: "The Trouble with Doug," and "Pages," both with the CAP21 Theatre company, as well as "A Different Moon" and "Yellowman" at Penguin Rep. He teaches acting at the BFA Molloy/CAP21 conservatory; prior to that, he taught at NYU/Tisch, HB Studio and Columbia College Chicago. As a writer, his short stories and poetry have appeared in The Iowa Review, Escape Into Life, Poetry East, Atlanta Review, Sycamore Review, Rosebud and other literary journals; his plays "Mystery in Space," "Alcimero" and "Sing for your Supper" were produced in New York and Chicago. He was an MFA graduate of the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul as well as a founding member of the Next Theater Co. in Chicago. He has been married to the actress Ann Dowd for a long time and they have three wonderful children.
