One of the best movies in the repertoire of Jason Statham is all set to hit free streaming. The action star continues to fight the good fight for no-nonsense thrills, but 2021’s Wrath of Man is a little more complex than The Stath’s usual fare. The actor has become well-known for his particular set of skills, expertly throwing his fists, feet and bullets at anyone who dares cross his path, but his movies are often divisive among critics and audiences. Well, this action thriller finds the two groups in agreement: it’s great.
Directed by Guy Ritchie in his fourth collaboration with Jason Statham, and co-written by Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Marn Davies, Wrath of Man boasts an impressive supporting cast that includes Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Chris Reilly, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Raúl Castillo, DeObia Oparei, Eddie Marsan, and Scott Eastwood. Considering Jason Statham's standing as one of the pre-eminent action stars of his generation, there was always going to come a time when he battled a giant shark. After decades of facing off against the biggest action stars in the world, there was really nobody else equipped to deal with the man's combat skills but a 75-foot long prehistoric Megalodon, and in 2018 audiences finally got to witness this historic showdown.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub, "The Meg" is loosely based on Steve Alten's 1997 novel "Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror" and stars Statham as deep-sea diving specialist Jonas Taylor. After a team of scientists become trapped during a research trip, Taylor is called in to rescue the group in the depths of the Mariana Trench. Unfortunately, all this commotion awakens a gigantic shark long thought to be extinct, and the beast isn't all that pleased about being disturbed. Of course,...

The Beekeeper was one of the biggest action movies of 2024, and after earning strong scores of 71% and 92% from critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and hauling in over $160 million at the box office, a sequel was a no-brainer. David Ayer, famed for his work on Suicide Squad(2016) and End of Watch (2012), was brought on to direct The Beekeeper, but it was announced several days ago that he would not be returning for the sequel and would instead be replaced by Timo Tjahjanto. During a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub while promoting A Working Man, Ayer shed some light on why he is unable to direct Jason Statham in The Beekeeper 2, which is set to begin filming this fall:...

Director David Ayer has had a fascinatingly uneven career. The man responsible for writing the standout "Training Day" is also responsible for directing the truly bizarre and critically-panned "Bright." That's not to mention 2016's "Suicide Squad," which was infamously sabotaged by studio meddling (though Ayer has taken the blame for Joker's stupid "damaged" tattoo). Ever since "Suicide Squad," the director has struggled to regain the prestige he'd built with his previous efforts. Though he saw box office success with "The Beekeeper" in 2024, Ayer's best movies are those that take his experience of growing up in disadvantaged neighborhoods of Los Angeles and inject them into taut action thrillers such as "Training Day" or Ayer's best directorial effort: "End of Watch."
The 2012 action thriller, which Ayer also wrote, is basically one-long gripping ride-along with two LAPD officers played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña. The pair are consistently and impressively believable as...

Now that we know the Jason Statham action sequel The Beekeeper 2 is officially happening, genre fans are buzzing and have found the perfect martial arts icon to join The Stath in the highly anticipated follow-up. Did the Suicide Squad director have issues with Jared Leto’s Joker?(Photo Credit –Facebook)
There is perhaps no greater villain in the superhero industry than Joker. Despite having no superpowers, he has always been a tough opponent for The Batman and has wreaked havoc in Gotham under his nose. Over the years, Joker’s legacy has only become more iconic with exceptional performances from actors like Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix. However, between these two portrayals, there was another actor who took on the challenge in 2016’s Suicide Squad movie.

The Batman villain Harley Quinn made her debut on the "Batman: The Animated Series" episodes "Joker's Favor", where she was voiced by actress Arleen Sorkin. The character was envisioned as a clown-like moll for the Joker, and was given a ditzy personality and a broad Noo Yawk accent. She proved to be so popular that she was eventually incorporated into Batman comic books, and soon grew to have titles of her own. Over the years, Harley Quinn has appeared in multiple TV shows and movies, most recently played in live-action by Lady Gaga in "Joker: Folie à Deux."
Fun trivia: Harley Quinn was actually preceded by a very, very similar character called Prank (Corinne Bohrer), a clown-like moll to a very Joker-like villain named the Trickster (Mark Hamill) on a 1991 episode of "The Flash." Whether or not the makers of "Batman: The Animated Series" were aware of Prank is a matter of speculation.

Action movie icon Jason Stathamis used to being able to punch his enemies into submission. But what if his enemy is a giant prehistoric monster? While he may have faced down several fellow action stars bigger than him, such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel, 2018’s The Meg throws the actor and martial artist into the jaws of a massive shark, with audiences loving the match-up as the movie makes a splash on streaming.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber, The Meg is loosely based on the 1997 novel by Steve Alten. Led by Jason Statham, the rest of the cast includes Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao, and Cliff Curtis, all of whom find themselves as living chum when a 75-foot-long megalodon escapes from the depths of the Mariana Trench and begins to wreak havoc. “All right...let’s play.” Action movie icon Jason Statham does what he does best in a new action-packed clip from this month’s highly anticipated action thriller, A Working Man. Directed by The Beekeeper’s David Ayer, and with a script from Statham’s Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man is set to hit theaters on March 28, 2025, and promises to be another crowd-pleasing action outing much like last year’s surprise hit, The Beekeeper.
You can check out the footage below, which finds The Stath entering the lion’s den where a criminal overlord named Dutch vastly underestimates the granite-jawed killer in front of him. Making the classic mistake of telling his henchmen to “get him,” Statham tears through his assailants with ease, throwing fists, breaking bones, and no doubt resulting in cheers and applause from the audience.

The movie was a rip-roaring experience focused on a highly skilled former operative from a lethal clandestine organization who goes on an epic mission of vengeance against the people responsible for stealing millions of dollars from a charity. Naturally, Statham leaves behind a bloody trail and attracts the unwanted attention of the top-secret group.

In his video review of David Ayer's "Fury," former /Film writer David Chen praises the film for its thrilling tank battles and depiction of war as a gory hellscape. The graphic war movie centers on Brad Pitt as a tank commander guiding his crew through Germany in April 1945. His young, mostly inexperienced soldiers each deal with the horrors of war in their own way — whether it be turning to faith, cowering in fear, or pulverizing the enemy with rage — as they infiltrate Nazi enemy lines.
Director David Ayer refuses to shy away from the brutal violence of war, squeezing viewers into the tanks' tight spaces so that we can understand the immense pressure, claustrophobia, and camaraderie the soldiers felt. One of the most harrowing images is when a tank rolls over a body, pulverizing it into mud, blood, and torn flesh, turning it into a mangled and soupy mess.

There is a lot that goes into making a movie and sometimes things do not work out the way you want them to. Take Street Kings as an example. The 2008 action thriller starring Keanu Reeves and Chris Evans was in the making since the late 1990s and was even set for a 2005 release once. However, fate had different plans for the film. And while David Ayer turned out to be a good choice for Street Kings, the Suicide Squad filmmaker was not the studio’s first choice by a long shot.

In fact, his name was fourth on the list with none other than David Fincher sitting on the top. Fortunately for David Ayer, the top choice decided to go with another project leaving the door open for an array of possibilities.

A clip from Jason Statham's soon-to-debut A Working Man has arrived. It showcases one of the brutal, bone-breaking fights audiences can expect from the action movie, which hits theaters this March.
The trailer features Statham's character, Levon Cade, in a fierce brawl with a gang after refusing to confirm he is not a law enforcement agent. The popular Irish band The Dropkick Murphy's The Boys Are Back plays over the exhilarating sequence as Cade breaks a few bones and bashes a couple of heads in. Impressed by Cade, the gang leader halts the violence and shakes their assailant's battle-worn hand, which reassures him Cade is not a cop. "You're a working man," he declares.

The Beekeeper was one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2024. This action thriller stars Jason Statham as Adam Clay and made over $153 million on a budget of just $40 million. Many fans praised The Beekeeper for its incredible action sequences and strong story. Unsurprisingly, The Beekeeper 2 has already been confirmed, and I admittedly can't wait to see what's next for Statham's Adam Clay.
Unfortunately, The Beekeeper 2 is missing one crucial element from the original: David Ayer directed the original movie, but he won't be returning to helm the sequel because he's working on another film. Instead, Timo Tjahjanto will be taking over for Ayer, and while I'm excited to see what Tjahjanto does with the franchise, I'm worried Ayer's absence means we're missing out on one-half of what made the original so amazing.

Amazon MGM Studios has a new “One Man Army” revenge thriller coming in about a month, called A Working Man. It stars Jason Statham as, ostensibly, a working man, but as you might expect from a role played by Statham, he’s a lot more than that.
Based on the book “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon, Statham plays Levon Cade, a decorated military black ops merc who has given up that kind of dangerous life for a quiet job as a construction worker. But just when he thought he was out, they Pull him back in when human traffickers kidnap his boss’s daughter. He’ll need to dig up all his old training, skills and senses to bring her back home. Time to become a one-man army, 80s style!

Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the first clip from A Working Man, the upcoming action thriller featuring Jason Statham doing what he does best: kicking ass and grunting monosyllabically.
The clip finds Levon Cade (Statham) brought before Dutch (Chidi Ajufo), who seems to be sitting upon some type of motorcycle club version of the Iron Throne. Dutch suspects that Cade might be a cop and orders his underlings to go through Cade’s pockets. Cue broken limbs, smashed faces, and all-around mayhem. Check out the clip for yourself above!

Jason Statham (The Beekeeper) has wandered into enemy territory in a new look at his upcoming film, A Working Man. The ass-kicking baddie is back in the latest production, which sees him re-teaming with his director pal, David Ayer. We should also mention that the screenplay was co-penned by both Ayer and the one and only Sylvester Stallone, so you know you’re going to get the goods when the movie punches its way into cinemas on March 28. This time around, Statham will be stepping into the role of Levon Cade — an ex-military man who has left the tangled world of black ops behind him to pick up a construction helmet and get to work using his hands. During his time with the crew, he grew close to his boss and his boss’s family, so when his boss’s daughter is abducted by human traffickers, Levon snaps into action,...

Spoiler Alert: Don't get stung — this article contains signposted spoilers for The Beekeeper.
Some buzzy news for your Friday morning! Following the global box office success of last year's David Ayer and Jason Statham action thriller The Beekeeper, The Stath's assassin-turned-apiarist-turned-assassin-again Adam Clay is set to make a busy (probably murderous) bee of himself once again in Miramax's The Beekeeper 2. And what's more, per Deadline's reporting, Indonesian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto is making a beeline for the director's hotseat and will be the man calling the shots on the upcoming sequel.
We know vanishingly little about what The Beekeeper 2, penned by the first movie's scribe Kurt Wimmer, will entail at this point, but we do know that cameras are due to start rolling on the sequel — which is sure to have a, er, sting in its tale — before the year is through. Jason Statham has been an icon for the action genre for decades now. While his most formative films were in the early 2000s, his fans have been waiting for something significant for years now. While Wrath of Man did come close, it did not possess the same essence that made his films so enjoyable.

This pattern persisted until The Beekeeper buzzed into the picture. The film easily entered the same category as classics like The Transporter yet stood out in the best ways possible. Having been directed by the creator of 2016’s Suicide Squad, it is not surprising that the film’s fast-paced action has led it on the path of a sequel.
However, it would seem that David Ayer has been replaced with another director, and the decision could make the series a lot more bloody.

However, it would seem that David Ayer has been replaced with another director, and the decision could make the series a lot more bloody.

The official red band trailer has been released for A Working Man. The new action film serves as a reunion for Jason Statham and The Beekeeper director David Ayer.
Set to hit theaters on March 28, A Working Man features Statham in the role of Levon Cade, a former commando hoping to live a more peaceful life as a construction worker. Things change when his boss's daughter gets kidnapped by human traffickers, giving him cause to put his deadly skills from the past to good use. His rescue mission will take him into the heart of a criminal conspiracy bigger than he could have even imagined. The red band trailer, which can be watched below, provides just a small tease of the violence that Statham's Levon Cade will be doling out in the movie.
