The Nickelodeon-branded animated "Star Trek" series has had a rough go of it. Infamously, the series was aired on a weird schedule. Its first 20-episode season was aired in two parts, with the first part coming in October of 2021 and the second part not dropping until the following year. Then, while the second season was still in production, the series was hastily and inexplicably canceled by Paramount, upsetting its slowly growing continent of fans. Not only that, "Prodigy" was also bafflingly removed from Paramount+, making it immediately unavailable. This was a startling decision, as Paramount has long held the reins on "Star Trek," and Trekkies assumed the company would want to keep all the components of its most lucrative franchise close to them.

Its cancellation came during a great culling at Paramount+ which saw the end of most of its "Star Trek" shows.

Dee Bradley Baker might not be a household name, but in geek corners, he’s something of a legend. Not only did he voice Rex on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but he’s jumped around to different studios over the years. This helped him voice Klaus on American Dad, Olmec the Aztec on Legends of the Hidden Temple, and many of the animals of our childhoods.

That list, which includes Perry the Platypus, Apa & Momo from Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Eagly from Peacemaker, has opened the door for Baker to specialize as one of Hollywood’s best animal sound vocal performers. While many of you will know Dee Bradley Baker best for his role as Captain Rex in The Clone Wars (and as The Bad Batch's fan-favourite lead characters). However, what you might not realise is that the actor also has a unique talent for voicing animals. 

His latest role in that realm is as King of Kings' Willa the Cat, and Baker recently sat down with us to talk about how he approached the feline standout.

During our conversation, we asked the Star Wars veteran whether he'll be back as Christopher Smith's beloved sidekick, Eagly, in Peacemaker season 2. He had to choose his words carefully, but it sounds like it's happening. 

"Oh, I was very, very pleased with Eagly and I really enjoyed Peacemaker," Baker shares in the video below. "I think all I can say is I'm not allowed to say anything. Maybe that tells you something, I don't know.

Well, they’re playing most of the hits. “The King of Kings” is a new animated retelling of the life of Christ, filtered through Charles Dickens’ interpretation of the so-called “Greatest Story Ever Told.” It’s a CG-animated film aimed at children and it’s less than two hours long, so it speeds past most of the Christ story episodically, giving kids the gist of it without engaging with most of The Bible’s big ideas in depth.
