Kenny Baker at an event for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Trivia

Kenny Baker

Edit
  • Children with Eileen Baker did not inherit their parents' dwarfism.
  • He and Anthony Daniels are the only actors to have a role in all seven Star Wars movies. However, Baker worked only as an uncredited consultant in the seventh film while Daniels actually appeared in all seven films.
  • Kenny Baker along with fellow 'Star Wars' actor Anthony Daniels -- or rather their droid costumes -- had their footprints pressed into cement on August 3, 1977 at the famous TCL Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. Reportedly, Anthony Daniels was actually inside his C-3PO costume, but R2-D2 was remote-controlled by Mick Garris.
  • In addition to his role of R2 D2 in return of the Jedi he was due to play Ewok Wicket but fell victim to food poisoning so the part of Wicket went to Warwick Davis and Kenny played Ewok Paploo.
  • Died the same year as his Star Wars co-stars Carrie Fisher and Erik Bauersfeld.
  • As of 2016, has appeared in three films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), The Elephant Man (1980) and Amadeus (1984), with the latter winning in the category.
  • He was the son of Ethel (Heath) and Harold G. Baker.
  • Prior to becoming R2D2 Kenny was busy with cabaret and television appearances and turned down Star Wars a couple of times until an agreement was made that allowed him to fit in his other work around the filming.
  • He has appeared in four films that have been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, & Amadeus.
  • Was half of the musical comedy double act The Minitones with Jack Purvis.
