He attended the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy and in 1978 he graduated with full marks in Modern Literature with a thesis in history of cinema at the chair of Pio Baldelli, a highly prestigious intellectual and historical director of the daily Lotta Continua. The thesis is on the use of rhetorical figures in the mechanically reproduced image.
