Directing any film or television show is a challenging feat, but there are extra complications for those who step in for an episode or two of a longer-running series: They have to lead a group of people who know the ins and outs of the storytelling, and the set itself, better than they do. The skills they need extend beyond leadership and emotional intelligence to the ability to be a utility player.
Veteran director Guy Norman Bee, who got his start on such shows as “ER” and “Third Watch,” and recently helmed episodes of “Take Two” and “Blood & Treasure,” compares the task of traveling from show to show to being a session musician.
“You show up and plug in and ‘Ok, let’s go,’ ” he says. “Your ability to shift gears and jump on a moving train, and then jump off elegantly after, is what keeps you surviving — because your reputation gets around.

iZombie, Season 1, Episode 9: “Patriot Brains”
Written by Robert Forman[/link]
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
The end of last week’s episode brought the startling revelation that Lowell’s breakfast consisted of Jerome’s brains, and that his supplier was none other than Blaine himself, as Liv discovered both facts via flashback. This realisation also brought Liv to the closest she’s ever been to Blaine’s operation, giving her an idea of what exactly he’s been doing. This week’s episode sees her delve more deeply into the mechanics of Blaine’s actions, and come to a decision, while Lowell himself faces the scarier aspects of being a zombie, in a compelling episode.
Lowell’s arc over the course of the episode makes for a fascinating watch. It’s understandable that many zombies would only be concerned with self-survival,...

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 22: “Stairway to Heaven”
Written by Andrew Dabb
Directed by Guy Norman Bee
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
Over the course of the season, two separate fights have been brewing, one for control of Heaven, and one for control of Hell. With the death of Abaddon last week, the latter reached a somewhat tenuous resolution, which meant that the brothers could turn their focus to Metatron and re-opening Heaven to the Angels and spirits. This week’s episode looks at Castiel and how he’s faring in his war, in a well done episode that puts all the pieces in place for a compelling finale.
Getting insight into how Castiel’s army operates is a fascinating aspect of this week’s episode. With the focus away from them for much of the season, it can be difficult to remember that...

Castiel has been a fan favorite since first appearing in "Supernatural" Season 4, but the status of Misha Collins, the actor who portrays him, has been in a constant state of flux, going from recurring to regular, back to recurring, and even switching to "Special Guest Star" in Season 8.
He's been considered a series regular this year in Season 9, and things will remain the same for Season 10; however, per TV Guide, the role Castiel will play hinges on how the battle with Metatron is resolved in the season finale, which airs on Tuesday, May 20th.
And we've just gotten hold of the synopsis for said finale, Episode 9.23, "Do You Believe in Miracles?," which you'll find below the summary of the upcoming Episode 9.22, "Stairway to Heaven."

Arrow Season 2, Episode 18 “Deathstroke”
Written by Marc Guggenheim & Drew Z. Greenberg
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm Et on The CW
Although there’s still five episodes left in the season, much of “Deathstroke” feels rushed, so excited to get to the next step in Slade’s endlessly layered plan to destroy Oliver Queen, that it doesn’t take a lot of time to pause and look at the dramas it just created. In a way, there’s almost too much momentum in the episode, which incorporates everything from Queen Consolidated, Oliver’s relationship with his mother, and Roy’s feelings for Thea all under the orange-and-black umbrella of Deathstroke (a name Slade admits is flamboyant, but it’s growing on him). “Deathstroke” marks the clear beginning of Arrow‘s third act, a series of events that snowball to massive proportions in merely an hour’s time.

Arrow Season 2, Episode 12 “Tremors”
Written by Marc Guggenheim & Drew Z. Greenberg
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Wednesday nights at 8pm Et on The CW
Arrow‘s second season was already an ambitious one before “Tremors”: although it’s stuttered on a few subplots, the show’s ability to integrate Sarah Lance, a cameo by Barry Allen, Moira’s trial, Mirakuru, Roy/Slade getting injected with it, and a dozen other arcs (Brother Blood! League of Assassins! Solomon Grundy!) has been impressive, to say the least. “Tremors” is another entertaining hour that continues on the same path, especially in the second half of the episode, where the twists, turns, and new directions are flying all over the place – but by the time the roller coaster ended with the re-emergence of Sarah in Starling City, I couldn’t help but wonder if the show’s building a little too much.

Arrow Season 2, Episode 6 “Keep Your Enemies Closer”
Written by Ben Sokolowski & Beth Schwartz
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Wednesday nights at 8pm Et on The CW
Let’s face it: Diggle’s stories have never been that interesting. Whether it was his silly relationship with his brother’s dead wife, or his anger towards Deadshot that only creeped up a couple times a year, Arrow‘s often struggled to make what happens to Diggle feel important in any way, shape or form. That being said, “Keep Your Enemies Closer” is an entertaining little side adventure into John Diggle’s life, even if it really doesn’t solve any of the larger problems with the construction of his character. At the very least, “Keep Your Enemies Closer” is another entertaining, world-building episode of Arrow, albeit one that suffers a little obviously from padding its relationships with unnecessary drama.

Review Ron Hogan 1 Nov 2013 - 07:15
The Tomorrow People begins to show signs of life in this week's uneven episode. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.4 Kill or Be Killed
Last week, we had Cara's cliché of an origin story. Stephen is our original cliché origin story. This week, we get to explore John's incredible cliché origin story. We already know a little about John as a character, namely that he's the leader of the Tomorrow People, he's kind of dating Cara, and that he used to be an agent for Ultra until he changed teams for reasons he won't talk about, but that are implied to be as a result of the terrible things he did while an Ultra agent. Pretty standard stuff, really. Every story needs some sort of character who used to be evil, but turned good, and now has a powerful urge to stop the...

The Tomorrow People Season 1, Episode 4, “Kill or Be Killed”
Written by Nicholas Wootton and Alex Katsnelson
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Wednesdays at 9pm Est on the CW
The Tomorrow People has been off to a rocky start, retreading tired genre tropes rather than developing its characters. This week, the show tries to change that by focusing in on John’s back story and in some ways, it works. Unfortunately, the episode wastes its time on exposition, splitting its focus between too many characters and wasting genre-favorite guest star Jason Dohring in the process.
Much of “Kill or Be Killed” is spent telling, rather than showing. We’re told John and Killian were close. We’re told they came up together and fought side-by-side. We’re told Killian is dangerous, that he went off the deep end when subjected to extreme drug therapy and started bombing random targets, looking for some twisted kind of revenge.

"The Tomorrow People" may have landed on the more sci-fi side of the fence, but with Episode 1.04, "Kill or Be Killed," promising to both reveal more of John's back story and feature a family dinner with Stephen, his mom, and Uncle Jed, how could we resist sharing this clip?
"The Tomorrow People" Episode 1.04 - "Kill or Be Killed" (airs 10/30/13, 9-10pm)
Unfinished Business — When Ultra’s most wanted, Killian McCrane (guest star Jason Dohring, “Veronica Mars”), resurfaces after years of being in hiding, Stephen (Robbie Amell) enlists John’s (Luke Mitchell) help in tracking him down. John reluctantly agrees to help but changes his mind when he learns that Killian isn’t after Jedikiah (Mark Pellegrino) as everyone suspects.
Stephen wants to help, but Cara (Peyton List) explains John’s history with Killian, which brings back a flood of memories from John’s past, making him do something he never thought he would do again.
