Universal Pictures has debuted the trailer for ‘The Bad Guys 2,’ the new chapter from DreamWorks Animation’s 2022 action-comedy hit about a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws.

The guys struggle to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys when they are pulled out of retirement and forced to do “one last job” by an all-female squad of criminals.

Good times were had and millions were raised at MPTF’s 18th annual Evening Before fundraiser.

The starry event, held at Century Park in Los Angeles on Saturday night, raked in $2.5 million to support the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s programs and services on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills while hosting a who’s who of Emmy nominees, winners and A-list Hollywood insiders on the eve of TV’s biggest night. Century Park was reimagined as a “relaxed town square” by Studio Komorebi complete with carnival games and food stations with a menu provided by L.A. food stars Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo and their Carmelized Prods.

The Hollywood Reporter and SAG-AFTRA kicked off Emmys weekend in star-studded style on Friday night, toasting top TV talent at their Emmy Nominees Night event.

The celebration, sponsored by Glenfiddich, Heineken and Shake Shack, was held at the Stanley II mansion overlooking Los Angeles and welcomed some of this year’s top contenders, including Shogun‘s Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada and Baby Reindeer stars Richard Gadd, Jessica Gunning, Nava Mau and Tom Goodman-Hill. Though he might not be the most famous name in the business, a look at Wallace Shawns movies and TV shows indicates the long and storied career the actor has had over many decades. Known for his smaller stature and his memorable voice, as showcased in the Toy Story franchise as Rex, Shawn is an instantly recognizable presence in any project. He knows how to steal scenes with small parts, but he has also shown his range in larger roles.

Night one on the 2024 Creative Art Emmys has come to a close, and some very big stars came out with wins.

On Saturday (September 7), the first of two night’s worth of awards were handed out before the 2024 Emmy Awards next week.

In the first night of the ceremony, Angela Basset won her very first Emmy. Maya Rudolph also collected a win, and Dick Van Dyke tied tied a record as the oldest winner at the age of 98.

The 2024 Creative Arts Emmys has handed out its first night of awards.

The annual two-day event, which takes place the weekend before the Primetime Emmys, is currently in the middle of handing out 99 awards to mostly below-the-line categories. Awards announced on Saturday include honors for variety programming, nonfiction and reality.

Saturday’s big winners included Jim Henson Idea Man, Saturday Night Live, Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden, Welcome to Wrexham and The 96th Oscars, which each took home multiple trophies. (Jimmy Kimmel, who won as an EP for The Oscars, joked that the win does not change his mind about not wanting to host again this year). Angela Bassett also landed her first Emmy win (after nine nominations) for narrating Nat Geo docuseries Queens, and The Traitors‘ Alan Cumming broke RuPaul’s record-setting winning streak for reality or competition program host.

The Primetime Emmys air on Sunday night, September 15, on ABC, but that’s not where most of the awards will actually be handed out. The vast majority will go out at the Creative Arts Awards over two nights this weekend on September 7 and September 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. So who will win? Created in 2006 by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, the “Made in NY” Awards celebrate excellence in New York City’s creative community and recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to NYC’s entertainment and digital media industries.

Prior recipients of the “Made in NY” award include 2024 Academy Award nominees Noah Baumbach, Danielle Brooks, Robert De Niro and Jeffrey Wright, as well as Awkwafina, Alex Borstein, Tina Fey, Caroline Hirsch, “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Spike Lee, Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Nas, Rosie Perez and “Sesame Street.”

From 2014 until earlier in 2024, no ceremony was held, and instead individual “Made in NY” Awards were presented to winners at various entertainment events throughout the city including the Gotham Awards and the Nywift Muse Awards.

Halle Berry is leaving the door open to reprising her Catwoman role, which she portrayed in the 2004 film directed by Pitof.

The star of The Union hinted that there’s one way to get her to wear the catsuit again.

“Maybe, if I could direct it,” Berry told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show after the host asked her if she would reprise the superhero role.

During her appearance on the NBC late-night show, Berry also recalled the film on its 20th anniversary from the release.

Neither Dustin Hoffman nor his Tootsie character Michael Dorsey have a spotless record when it comes to women, but the former actor will be damned if he lets Alex Borstein believe that the moral of the movie is that she’s ugly.

Back at the dawn of the MeToo movement in late 2017, seven different women hit Hoffman with sexual misconduct accusations, telling their abusive stories of Hoffman that ranged from harassment to assault. Hoffman would soon release an apology for the lightest of the allegations, and the accusations ultimately amounted to a brief dip in reputation for the actor, whose similarly controversial contemporaries Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Liam Neeson publicly jumped to his defense, claiming Hoffman to be more multifaceted than outright monstrous.

And, in fairness to the two-time Academy Award winner, there was at least one woman with aspirations in the entertainment industry whom he uplifted as opposed to degraded.
