A 1938 graduate of UCLA, Edward Boyd is best known as an advertising genius, who was one of the first African-Americans hired as advertising executives and salesmen in corporate America. In 1946, he was hired as an assistant sales manager for Pepsi Cola, and he developed what would become known as "niche marketing" by providing powerful and respectful images of African-Americans in Pepsi ads.
