Total Film Magazine wants you to witness the badassery of Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa for George Miller’s upcoming prequel with new covers for the entertainment publication. On the first Furiosa magazine cover, Taylor-Joy’s road warrior sports the latest in Wasteland fashion: tire tread armor, worn leather straps, and black grease paint covering the top half of her shaven skull. For the alternate cover, Furiosa evokes an unholy Wasteland clergy look with a red cloak, bandaged chest, fire-roasted pants, and a mechanical arm to help crush War Boys’ balls into dust.
Directed by Miller from a screenplay he wrote with Nico Lathouris, Furiosa has the following synopsis: As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe.

Film Adaptation of J.K. Rowling Children’s Book ‘The Christmas Pig’ in Early Development (Exclusive)
J.K. Rowling’s bestselling children’s book “The Christmas Pig” is set to get a film adaptation.
Variety understands the project is in a very early stage of development in-house and a production company has not yet been attached.
Rowling’s production company Bronte already produces the BBC/HBO adaptation of her adult detective series “Cormoran Strike.”
“The Christmas Pig” was first published in 2021 with illustrations by Jim Field. At the time of publication, Swift Films made a series of promotional videos for the project.
The book tells the story of a boy named Jack, who loses his childhood toy Dur Pig — nicknamed Dp — on Christmas Eve after his stepsister throws it out of the family car. Although Jack is offered a replacement called Christmas Pig as consolation, he misses his old faithful friend and casts Christmas Pig (abbreviated to Cp) aside.
To cheer Jack up, Cp proposes a plan to rescue his best toy.

This article contains mild plot spoilers for George Miller’s Furiosa!
Director George Miller is continuing the Mad Max franchise with the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which is set to reach theatres on May 24th – and with that date just over a month away, the film got some promotion during the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and George Miller took the stage during the Warner Bros. panel. Miller told the eager CinemaCon crowd that Furiosa takes place over 18 years, whereas Fury Road’s story lasted three days. Miller then quipped that if the apocalypse actually happened, Anya would be the one he’d want to hang out with as she has the rigor and commitment.
Speaking about Hemsworth, Miller said he couldn’t think of anyone to play Dementus, and he’d had the script for a long time.

Drama In UK Drama ‘This Is Going to Hurt’
Antitrust the process: Not great news for the UK’s fabled TV drama community this week as we brought news that the antitrust investigation spooking producers will be prolonged for at least six months – and likely far longer. A reminder: the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) probe is examining whether BBC Studios, ITV Studios and four other storied indies colluded by informally fixing freelancers’ wage rates. The extension will see the CMA implement “further investigatory steps” and assessment of evidence” for the next six months, and those Max spoke with said the authority has an enormous wealth of evidence to get through. “Stressed” and “jittery” was the vibe described by one connected source about those being probed, who now face months...

Goodbye, The Lazarus Project. Unless a mysterious sci-fi organisation steps in to reset time to before Sky chose to cancel the mind-bending time travel drama, that’s our lot. After airing two seasons, they won’t be making a third.
The news was first announced in The Sun, and later confirmed by trustworthy outlets including TV Zone and RadioTimes.com. It had previously been rumoured that if season three were to go ahead, creator Joe Barton would be stepping back to a producer role and welcoming in new writers, who would have to do without some of the major cast members including Tom Burke. It is a well-known fact that George Miller is one of Australia’s best directors and filmmakers. His best-known work is the Mad Max franchise, which starred with Mel Gibson in the titular role; he was later replaced by Tom Hardy in Fury Road, a movie that also introduced the character of Furiosa, initially played by Charlize Theron. Furiosa was such an amazing addition to the franchise that Miller decided to give her a standalone prequel movie, where Anya Taylor-Joy will be playing a younger version of the character.
Furiosa is set to arrive in theaters on May 23, 2024, in just a couple of months, and ahead of the movie’s premiere, Warner Bros. has just blessed us with another trailer for the movie, revealing more information about Furiosa’s past, as well as her conflict with Warlord Dementus, who is played by Chris Hemsworth. Turns out, Anya Taylor-Joy has a shaved head in “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel “Furiosa.”
The “Queen’s Gambit” star recently told Empire magazine that director George Miller told her to not shave her head for the role; however, in the new trailer, a buzzed cut is boasted by the star, mirroring Charlize Theron’s look as Furiosa for “Fury Road.” Taylor-Joy is almost certainly sporting a wig in the film; we sure haven’t seen her growing back long locks in the time since.
“I feel very lucky that, from the second I read the script, I just knew this person. I felt so fiercely protective over Furiosa, and fiercely protective of her interests,” Taylor-Joy said of taking over the character from Theron. She also told IndieWire that “Furiosa” was the “dirtiest and the bloodiest” she’s ever been onscreen.

Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for George Miller’s “Furiosa”, the post-apocalyptic prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The film stars Anya-Taylor Joy as wasteland warrior princess Imperator Furiosa, a role originally plated by Charlize Theron in the 2015 series reboot.
The film follows a young Furiosa as she is ripped from her refuge in the Green Place of Many Mothers and, for the first time, forced to face the insanity of the desolate world beyond. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke star alongside Taylor-Joy.
The new trailer shows Taylor-Joy going full Furiosa by cutting her hair and wearing her robotic arm prosthetic. It begins with a flashback to an even younger Furiosa getting kidnapped by a gang of marauders on motorbikes. As a young adult, she then goes on a revenge rampage against Hemsworth’s unnamed ringleader. Just like “Fury Road,” there is plenty of car carnage and wasteland weirdos teased in the trailer.

Director George Miller is synonymous with the Mad Max franchise, which helped cement his status as one of the best action filmmakers in Hollywood. 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, won the director critical acclaim and reinvigorated interest in the hit franchise.

The film was anchored by Charlize Theron’s brilliant performance as Imperator Furiosa. However, when Miller announced that he was working on a Furiosa-centric prequel/spin-off film without Theron’s involvement some fans were understandably bummed. In a new interview, Miller has opened up about choosing to recast Theron for the prequel, and here is what the director revealed.

When director George Miller needed to fill the role of Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road, he turned to actor Hugh Keays-Byrne, who had previously played the villainous Toecutter in the original Mad Max. Sadly, Keays-Byrne passed away in 2020, before Miller could get the prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga into production – so in this movie, which is set to reach theatres on May 24, the role of Immortan Joe is being played by Lachy Hulme. Hulme’s casting in the role was confirmed by Empire, and they also scored a great quote from Hulme about the scope of the film. He told them Furiosa is “David Lean, but with motorbikes instead of camels. When you see 4,000 custom-made motorbikes come over a hill, you shit your pants.“
Hulme pulls double duty in the Furiosa, as he also plays a character called Rizzdale Pell, who is “one of the gang members...

George Miller is digging deep into the wild world of Mad Max with his next movie, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. While Charlize Theron made the role of Imperator Furiosa what it is today in the 2015 hit, Miller intends to explore the character further, with a young Anya Taylor-Joy taking over to narrate her story from the start. But Miller’s recent comments regarding the film might just suggest that fans of the epic duo, Hardy and Theron, may have a reason to anticipate their return to the saga.

Furiosa Tells A 15 Year Story In The Mad Max World: ‘It’s An Odyssey, No Question’ – Exclusive Image
When George Miller unleashed Mad Max: Fury Road on the world in 2015, it bowled audiences over for several reasons. There was the unhinged action, with mind-bending car-based carnage that put pedal to the metal. Then there was the intensity of the filmmaking itself, channeling Max’s own madness into a jolt of cinematic adrenaline. But its secret weapon came in a different form – not Tom Hardy’s Max, but another lone figure in the water-sparse Wasteland who, with her buzzcut, blackened brow, and biomechanical arm, immediately became a cinematic icon. Her name was Imperator Furiosa, and she set the screen ablaze. Now, she’s about to take centre stage in this summer’s wildest blockbuster – buckle up for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

The last time TV audiences saw Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott – detective fiction’s reigning will-they-won’t-they king and queen – they were hugging outside a fancy perfume shop. The private investigators had solved Troubled Blood’s cold case, exposed a serial killer, and had time left over for some belated birthday shopping for the newly divorced Robin.
An almost-kiss between them turned into a heartfelt hug and Strike’s declaration that Robin was his best friend, leaving them still tantalisingly apart but ready for their next adventure.
That next adventure is now on its way, confirms Deadline and the BBC. Filming is currently underway on The Ink Black Heart, with Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger back in the lead roles, and Tom Edge back as the show’s screenwriter and creator.

A fresh set of actors are about to be enrolled in what the film series cast cheekily nicknamed ‘the Harry Potter Pension plan’. US streamer Max’s plan to re-adapt the Potter books into a TV show running for 10 consecutive years and starting in 2025/6 should keep the lucky new cast in greasepaint and copies of The Stage indefinitely.
But who will they be? Lead characters Harry, Ron and Hermione will almost certainly be played by unknowns, but the Hogwarts ensemble – Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Hagrid and co. – will be picked from the current crop of British acting talent, just like their counterparts were over two decades ago. Who working today could follow in the footsteps of Sir Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Dame Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane and the rest?
