During a recent Today episode, Savannah Guthrie was absent from the lineup alongside her colleagues.
As NBC’s morning program arrived, viewers saw a recognizable replacement in Savannah’s spot.
Craig Melvin, who often appears on Today, was seated between Hoda Kotb and Sheinelle Jones.
“Well, hello, welcome to Today. It is Friday. We’re glad you’re with us,” Hoda said at the show’s start before announcing, “Savannah is off today.”
The NBC anchor recently received some backlash for an interview segment she did with singer and actress Kelly Rowland.
Some online critics deemed part of the interview “disrespectful” as Savannah attempted to get Rowland to answer a specific question.
Savannah interviewed singer on NBC’s Today before her absence
On Thursday’s Today episode, Savannah sat down with singer Kelly Rowland, formerly a member of Destiny’s Child. She’s gone on to a solo music career and has ventured into acting.

Actor Christian Bale posed in front of a John Deere tractor at Together California’s Foster Care Center Groundbreaking event in Palmdale, California, last week.
Bale was staying warm in a black jacket while breaking ground for a foster care facility for kids who need a safe home.
The actor retired from playing Batman for good after The Dark Knight Rises. One decade later, he is using his new superpowers by supporting a facility that can save young lives.
Bale has said that giving up on Batman was more difficult than expected.
“You know, for all the kind of discomfort, and all the heat and sweat and the headaches and everything from it, when you sit back and watch the movie at the end of the day you end up going, ‘That’s f—— cool!’ Bale told Movies.com.

An interview with the U.S. President in the hours before the Super Bowl has become a tradition in recent decades. Now that custom seems to be in danger of dying out.
President Joe Biden will not take part in an exchange during the pre-game festivities leading up to CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl Lviii on February 11, CBS News confirmed. The Paramount Global news operation had been in discussions with the White House in recent weeks. Details about which correspondent might have been eyed for the assignment could not be learned, but the CBS News offer was believed to have been for a 15-minute interview, three or four minutes of which would have aired during the network’s pre-game coverage.
This will mark the second year in a row that President Biden has turned down the opportunity, which typically draws an audience of tens of millions, even in the hours before kickoff.

The View has historically had hosts who have reacted to one another’s comments with heated responses. However, only one on-air spat in the show’s history caused one host to leave after only nine months on the daytime talk series. Who left, and what was the heated debate about?

As moderator of The View, Rosie O’Donnell spearheaded many of the show’s Hot Topics. She was responsible for ushering in each new table discussion as moderator for panelists Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd, and Elisabeth Hasselback.

Joe Biden sat down for a rare, in-studio live interview with A TV news outlet — MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace — and at one point started to lament changes in journalism.
“Talking to a lot of reporters, they tell me — I have to be careful what I say — a number of reporters have indicated that there’s no editors anymore on what they do. And I had one reporter tell me that, ‘You know, I am a reporter but I got one of my editors of newspaper came and said, ‘You don’t have a brand yet.’ A major newspaper. They said, ‘Well, I am not an editorial writer.’ ‘But you need a brand so people will watch you, listening, because of what they think you are going to say.’ I just think there’s a lot changing.”

New Delhi, March 25 (Ians) Silicon Valley titan Gordon Moore, one of the co-founders of chip-maker Intel and the creator of Moore’s Law, has passed away at age 94.
Intel and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation announced that Gordon Moore died peacefully on Friday, “surrounded by family at his home in Hawaii”.
Moore and his longtime colleague Robert Noyce founded Intel in July 1968.
Prior to establishing Intel, Moore and Noyce participated in the founding of Fairchild Semiconductor, where they played central roles in the first commercial production of diffused silicon transistors and later the world’s first commercially viable integrated circuits.
At Intel, Moore initially served as executive vice president until 1975, when he became president.
In 1979, Moore was named chairman of the board and chief executive officer, posts he held until 1987, when he gave up the CEO position and continued as chairman. In 1997, Moore became chairman emeritus, stepping down in 2006.

Everyone seems to have an opinion about Dr. Anthony Fauci. For those on the left, the famed physician and immunologist who led America’s Covid-19 response under presidents Trump and Biden is a beacon that steadily guided the country through the pandemic darkness. For those on the right, as the face of the federal government’s Covid response, he is to blame for any and all pandemic-mitigation measures inflicted upon the American public — plus may be guilty of a “cover-up” (Tucker Carlson’s words) regarding the origins of Covid, since...

Not too long ago, Jen Psaki spent her days trying to explain the inner machinations of Washington to a crowd of skeptical journalists. On Sunday, she will become part of that horde.
But if the former White House press secretary has her way, her new MSNBC program, “Inside With Jen Psaki,” won’t be as grizzled or as cynical as the reporters with whom she often parried. Instead, she says in an interview, “the hope is that when people watch the show, they come away and they learn something they didn’t know before, whether it’s about a person or an issue.”
In doing so, Psaki may have to answer a question as complex as anything she had to respond to at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue: Is there really room for nuance on one of the nation’s cable-news outlets?
On “Inside,” which launches Sunday at noon, Psaki hopes to give viewers at least a little.

Denise Austin posted a photo of herself in a blue bikini top and black shorts to social media.
The fitness instructor, 66, is still working, promoting her website’s week-long ab challenge to achieve a “flatter stomach” in time for the spring and summer months.
She included Pilates, avoiding sugars and flexing one’s abs for 30 seconds every hour as part of the exercise.
Another tip was to simply stand up taller. Austin said women can look five pounds lighter and make their abs look flatter by imagining a string above their heads pulling them up. They then are instructed to tuck in their abs and pull their belly buttons to the back of their spines.
Austin also suggested eating water-heavy foods such as cucumbers, celery and melons as well as potassium-rich foods like potatoes.

Updated: Biden will take part in an interview with Fox Corporation on Super Bowl Sunday after all. After some confusion, the President is now set to be interviewed by the company’s Black audience-focused channel Fox Soul.
“After the White House reached out to Fox Soul Thursday evening, there was some initial confusion,” Fox Corp. said in a statement shared with press. “Fox Soul looks forward to interviewing the President for Super Bowl Sunday.”
The news follows conflicting reports on Friday that Biden would not take part in an interview with the Fox Corporation for the upcoming sporting event. Representatives from Fox News claimed that an interview was offered but Biden declined, while representatives from the White House claimed that Biden was scheduled to speak with Fox Soul but was asked to cancel the interview. It’s unclear if miscommunication between Fox Soul and Fox News created the issue.

Not even past presidents can avoid being called in for jury duty.
Former President Barack Obama honored his civic obligations in Chicago on Wednesday morning, reporting for jury duty at the Windy City’s Daley Center with his Secret Service detail in tow.
Earlier, Obama was seen leaving his home in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood with a motorcade of black SUVs, CNN reported. After he arrived at the Daley Center, Obama shook hands with fellow would-be jurors and autographed copies of his books.
The former president was ultimately dismissed without having to serve on a jury, the Chicago Tribune reported.

At his campaign rally in Phoenix on Tuesday night, President Donald Trump suggested he still intends to pardon former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was convicted last month of criminal contempt for ignoring a federal judge’s order to stop traffic patrols that targeted immigrants.
Arpaio, 85, a Trump supporter, is awaiting sentencing and faces up to six months in jail.
Trump raised eyebrows last week when he told Fox News that he was “seriously considering’’ pardoning Arpaio soon, a move some Democrats have warned would further inflame racial tensions in the wake of the recent deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

FX would love another season of “Fargo” – you betcha – but admits it might be a while before a fourth trip up north.
Executive producer Noah Hawley is currently focused on Season 2 of “Legion,” as well as his film career, FX Networks chief John Landgraf told reporters Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour.
“We haven’t heard the idea form Noah what the fourth season might be,” he said. “What we’ve encouraged Noah to do is think about it, make sure he has something exciting and really believes in.”
Landgraf said there was a possibility that Hawley may not come up with a new season idea “for some time.”
“He has a really busy schedule,” Landgraf noted. “We’re going to have to share him with our film studio.”

When Attorney General Jeff Sessions proclaimed that he might jail reporters who refuse to divulge their sources, it was no empty threat: A 1972 Supreme Court decision backs him up. The court ruled in Branzberg v. Hayes that reporters are just like anyone else when subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury, and the First Amendment gives them no special rights to refuse. That’s why New York Times reporter Judith Miller was jailed during President George W. Bush’s administration. So exhausted last night. And aggravated. Got stuck in a major traffic jam on the New Jersey Turnpike that was so bad I finally said fuck this, made an illegal u-turn, backtracked and got off the turnpike, and drove through side streets in Newark and Jersey City until I finally got home 3½ hours after I had left my starting point. By that time I had to pee so badly I was actually in pain, and I was cursing as I parked the car because I knew that at any minute I was going to wet my pants, and then of course, the straps on one of my bags broke and the contents went spilling all over the street, so by the time I actually got into my apartment building’s elevator I knew it was a lost cause, despite the Kegel’s, and yes, ladies and gentlemen, I wet my pants.

The annual White House Easter Egg Roll is right around the corner, so what better time to look back at how past presidents have hosted their egg rolls?
This tradition dates back to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes welcomed local children to the White House South Lawn for the first official egg roll. The event, held each year on Easter Monday, has only ever been canceled due to bad weather, World War I and World War II.
The Easter Egg Roll is considered the most high-profile and elaborate public event thrown at the White House, as well as one of the most heavily promoted.
