In 1973, Suzanne Rogers debuted on Days of our Lives as Maggie Simmons, an orphaned young farm woman, who was crippled. She became the love interest of amnesiac Mickey Horton (John Clarke) and, later, his wife. Over the decades, Maggie regained her ability to walk unassisted, lost custody of one daughter, adopted another, and gave birth to yet another. Also, she discovered a son she never knew she had in Daniel (Shawn Christian). Rogers won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1978, the inaugural year of category. The actress left Days in 1984 after being diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune, neuromuscular condition that Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) also had on Empire. Rogers returned to Days a year later. In 2003, she fell victim to a cast purge when yet another serial killer swept through Salem. Also, fortunately, Maggie and all the ...

It's always fun when actors associated with one show you love pop up on another.
Almost a year after Days of Our Lives' Shawn Christian guest starred on Chicago Med, another alum from the long-running soap will appear on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 11: Jen Lilley.
Although Lilley is not playing her Days character on Med, the patient she plays might have something in common with Theresa Donovan: a substance abuse problem.
According to spoilers, Asher and Archer will use AI to help treat opiate abuse. Since photos have them working with Lilley's character, this patient is likely abusing painkillers.
This should be a compelling storyline for several reasons.

In a surprising twist, Orpheus, Evan, Kristen, Gwen, and Dr. Rolf were all sprung from prison and let loose on Salem!
Our TV Fanatics, Jack and Christine, are joined by Kathy from MyHourglass, a Days of Our Lives fan forum, to debate the shocking pardons, if Evan will get Shawn Christian, will Brady try to keep Rachel from Kristen, and who really killed Abigail!
Orpheus, Evan, Kristen, Dr. Rolf, and Gwen got full pardons and were released from prison! Rate this twist from 1 (I hate it) to 10 (This is awesome!)
Kathy: 7 or 8. It's not surprising that Orpheus had a plan to get out with his son. I wonder what tasks Kristen has in store for Dr. Rolf and Gwen? The use of the governor was a nice twist.
Jack: I'll give it a 4. Orpheus has always been one of my favorite villains, but he's been misused in schemes that are far beneath him lately.

Chicago Med returned with an emotional episode involving secrets between fathers and children.
On Chicago Med Season 7 Episode 20, Choi was up to his old tricks, this time driven by the anger he harbors over his father taking his secret to the grave.
He wasn't the only one dealing with secrets, either, as Scott was forced to take care of a mob boss' seriously ill child and Vanessa's patient triggered her curiosity about her bio dad.
Choi's story was, in some ways, typical Choi.
In the last several years, Choi's gotten on my nerves more than once because he thinks he knows better than the patient how to live their own lives.
This time around, his reason was sympathetic but still wrong. He was triggered by his upset about learning that his father had a male lover that he never knew about.
Charles tried to tell Choi that what his patient did was not Choi's business,...

Random Media has obtained the world rights to The Experience, an Lgbtq+ coming-of-age drama written and directed by Katerina Gorshkov. Allison Kove, Ava Capri, Shawn Christian, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Sabina Gadecki, star along with Brigitte Nielsen and Gordon Thomson. The pic, which hails from Black Stallion Productions, will get a day-and-date release in November. Set against the backdrop of a ‘tough love’ wilderness program for the wayward children, the plot examines the life of Scarlet (Kove), a teenage girl whose ongoing behavior – partying, piercings and suicide attempts – have landed her at ‘The Hills of Heaven’ camp. When a mysterious girl named Dillion (Capri) arrives at camp, Scarlet begins to open up and maybe even fall in love. However, just when these girls are making a meaningful connection, they are forced to reconcile their reality in ways they cannot begin to fathom and question the very fabric of their own existence.

It's hard to watch your idols fall.
And Officer Jeremy Hawke fell hard on The Rookie Season 1 Episode 6 and he could have taken Nolan down with him.
It was a little difficult to determine why Nolan was so enamored by "The Hawke."
Nolan certainly isn't a testosterone junkie, so was it just that Jeremy saw potential in him at the Academy when no one else did? Perhaps it was that Nolan was starting a new life, was probably lonely, and Hawke was one of his first new friends.
Any guy who uses his own nickname obviously has ego and identity issues. It's funny that what Nolan saw as confidence, Bishop saw as arrogance.

Taylor Cole loves playing bad girls, but this summer, she's back on the side of the law.
The actress and ex-model spent the final season of CBS' "CSI: Miami" as a lab technician-turned-field agent. Shortly after that, she echoed her former role on NBC's "The Event" as a presumed-dead but still-lethal villain who all but destroyed the team's headquarters in the season finale of "Hawaii Five-0."
Now Cole is back in a Florida setting -- and pursuing justice again -- in Season 3 of A&E Network's Sunday drama "The Glades." She's just settling into her new role as police bureau chief Jennifer Starke, but it shouldn't take long for her to shake up the already shaky relationship of Detective Jim Longworth (Matt Passmore) and unhappily wed nurse Callie Cargill (Kiele Sanchez).

Daytime dramas may be facing tough times, but the 45-year old NBC soap Days of Our Lives is taking steps to remain relevant and attract new viewers. They're generating some major buzz by turning to an underrepresented group – the gays.
This summer saw college-aged Sonny Kiriakis (played by Freddie Smith) pop up in the fictional town of Salem. The character is out and unapologetic about his orientation, and he's been busy befriending (and battling homophobia with) some of the younger set on the show.
While Sonny did have to tell some family members and residents that he was gay, the show let Sonny be a self-assured, confident young man who wasn’t about let anyone’s issue with his sexuality push him back in the closet.
The story coming up for goody-two-shoes Will Horton (Chandler Massey), however, is going to be fueled with much more angst and drama. Will apparently...

In Parts One, Two, Three, and Four of our interview with Melissa Reeves, the beloved and acclaimed actress discussed early career on Santa Barbara, Jennifer's romances on Days Of Our Lives, the Jack & Jennifer phenomenon, and how her faith guided her through public rumor and speculation. In the final part below, Reeves shares her thoughts on her outspoken exit from Days in 2006, saying goodbye to Frances Reid, and her future on and off Days. Which Days hunk is Jennifer going to be spending her "days" with? Find out below:
We Love Soaps TV: You were very candid about your dissatisfaction with your role when you left in 2006. Jennifer had quickly married Frankie after Jack was presumed dead for the millionth time.

During the dry programming of this holiday season, there is no time like the present to catch up with your favorite soap actors and actresses as they work their asses off on web series. Yes, that’s right. Web series. While they are hard working actors year round on their respective soap operas, many have also stepped out to produce and star in their own creative vision via the internet.
When Guiding Light went off the air last year, they were in the middle of one of the most lauded lesbian storylines ever to hit the screen. Olivia and Natalia played by Crystal Chappell and JessicaLeccia, respectively, two women previously involved with and married to men and one, Natalia, a reverent Christian, had fallen in love. The couple became known as “Otalia.” Do a Google search of Otalia and you will find everything from fan sites to discussion threads to an “Otalia for Dummies” page.

If you have been a soap fan for any length of time, then chances are you have a very beautiful but somewhat out-of-date coffee table book of your favorite show, either past or present. During the mid-late 90s, most shows put out an elegant and historical pictorial featuring plot synopses and rare pictures. Authors Greg Meng and Eddie Campbell have updated and upgraded this concept by offering an aesthetically gorgeous and fascinating look behind the scenes in the new book "Days Of Our Lives 45 Years: A Celebration In Photos."
Yes, there are plenty of historical pictures from 1965 onward that have never been published before. You see actors reading cue cards in the Horton living room, Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) getting her hair done in 1974, Josh Taylor (Roman) and James Reynolds (Abe) playing basketball on a lunch break, and more. What Days fans have also never previously viewed are the structural compositions of the show.

HollywoodNews.com: I’ll have red carpet coverage galore from the 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards later today and lots and lots of bits of news that I picked up from here and there.
Chatted up just about everyone I really wanted to including Susan Lucci, Bonnie Hunt, Tuc Watkins, Michael Muhney, Jon Hensley, Eden Reigel, Brandon Beemer, Mark Hapka, Shawn Christian, Carolyn Hennesey, Doug Davidson, Drew Tyler Bell, Zach Conroy and Austin Peck, among many others.
But first let’s tell you who won what and share some of the backstage dish and the photos I snapped.
While there is debate about the quality of the telecast itself (Dick Clark tribute too long, As the World Turns Tribute too short etc), I must say that it was a dream backstage where everyone was in a good mood, the food they served us was delish, and the WiFi was nice and speedy!

Numbers of celebrities have glammed up the red carpet of the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, held at miX Lounge at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, on Sunday, June 27. Terri Colombino, Alexandra Chando, Stephanie Gatschet and Austin Peck were among the early attendees.
Shelley Hennig, who was nominated for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series, kicked off the star-studded event in a dark green short dress with a simple hair-do. In one shot, Shelley posed along with Shawn Christian, who sported a light shirt matched with a dark tie and vest.
Lindsay Hartley, in the meantime, looked stunning in a loose mini dress, paired with black shoes. Judi Evans and Chrishell Stause were pretty in white. Meanwhile, stars who preferred to wear black outfit include Terri, Nadia Bjorlin, Farah Fath, Maura West, Melissa Egan, Leslie Kay, Julie Pinson, Leann Hunley and Elizabeth Hendrickson.

It’s not surprising a film like Small Town Saturday Night never found theaters. Written and directed by Ryan Craig, this small little indie about the small lives of inhabitants of a, wait for it, “small town” doesn’t offer anything controversial in content, revolutionary in technology or relevant by way of movie stars. Yes, Chris Pine stars as Rhett Ryan, a guitar-strumming dreamer on his way to Nashville and bigger and better things, but this thing was made and cut before people knew what a “Chris Pine” was.
This is the kind of movie that recalls past movies, but does it with an earnest that can only come from true experiences from real people. From now until the end of time, characters in movies will continue to say things like “everything will be alright” and “just be yourself,” and, in turn, so will characters in real life.
And why?...

Now that Chris Pine has hit it big in what promises to be one of the bigger franchise reboots of the next decade, it’s interesting to see where he’ll spend his screen time when he’s not sitting off-kilter on the captain’s chair. It’s an interesting question for every star who finds their biggest success at the start of a huge franchise, and often the non-related films they make receive a fair bit of scrutiny as audiences attempt to determine whether or not the actor has a future when that franchise ends. For Chris Pine this still applies, and so his first independent drama choice since playing Kirk has an interesting level of weight behind it, and to his credit Small Town Saturday Night works in his favor, showing off a more contemplative counterbalance to his egotistical jokester from Star Trek.

Frances Reid, the "Days of Our Lives" matriarch who starred on the show for more than 40 years, has died.
Reid died Wednesday (Feb. 3) in Los Angeles, according to several reports. She was 95.
Her career in television spanned most of the history of the medium, stretching back to roles in iconic 1950s shows like "The Philco Television Playhouse" and "Studio One." She also appeared in the CBS soaps "As the World Turns" and "The Edge of Night" in the early '60s.
She's best known, though, for her role as Alice Horton on "Days of Our Lives." Reid was a member of the show's original cast and remained a fixture for more than 40 years; her last appearance on the show was in December 2007. She won three Soap Opera Digest Awards for the role and was twice nominated for a Daytime Emmy; she also was given a lifetime achievement award at the...
