A newly released rough mix of “Photograph” from Def Leppard’s archives shows a different side to the Number One rock chart hit. Where the version that came out on Pyromania and dominated rock radio in 1983 finds the band singing “Photograph” and Joe Elliott responding, “I don’t want your … / I don’t need your …” the rough mix has less vocals and more space. It sounds almost like a new wave song with more prominent (and funkier) bass, less reverb, and a lot more jangly guitar in the chorus. The cowbell remains the same.

Exclusive: Hot off the Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness premiere of the genre film Pearl, writer-director Ti West has signed for management at Lbi Entertainment.
He continues to be repped by UTA and lawyered by Stephen Clark.
West made some headlines during his Pearl TIFF premiere when the A24 film ended, and was followed by a teaser trailer for MaXXXine, the character played by Mia Goth who first appeared in the film X.
West has become an emerging filmmaker who will grow into bigger budgets and subject matter, as James Wan has. He’s got an original film idea he’ll develop after MaXXXine wraps up his trilogy, and he is percolating several TV projects on which he’ll be writer and EP, directing the pilots at least.
Lbi’s Chris Donnelly signed him for management.

When Def Leppard’s members realized they wouldn’t be exploring the world on the Stadium Tour last year, they decided to conquer the backs of their wardrobes instead. A new online museum that they’ve dubbed the Def Leppard Vault (a nod to their 1995 greatest hits comp, Vault) collects images of artifacts from throughout the group’s 40-plus–year history and commentary from the band.
“After months of digging through our personal rock & roll closets (and warehouses, no less!), we present you our history,” frontman Joe Elliott said in a statement.

Def Leppard recorded a nearly note-perfect rendition of the title track of their 1987 blockbuster album Hysteria, as well as a heavy cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” at Spotify’s recording studio for the streaming service’s “Spotify Singles” series. “Hysteria” features a little bluesier guitar soloing here and there and it lacks the gargantuan wall of vocals on the original, but it’s an otherwise faithful performance of the song, which made it to Number 10 on the Hot 100.

This season has not been kind to West Brom, after they excelled last season by finishing in the top eight of the Premier League. A slow start to the season saw Steve Clarke sacked, which did seem harsh considering how well he did for the team the previous season. Pepe Mel has since become the club’s new permanent manager.
The theme of this slideshow is to look and the reasons why West Brom could still find themselves in trouble despite the managerial change. The Baggies lay 17th in the table at the time of writing, level on points with Sunderland who are currently stranded in the relegation zone. As always, this will be a considered review that will incorporate strong opinions alongside those all-important stats from Who Scored.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert wants to bring Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Naughton to the West Midlands.
The Sunday Mirror reports that the 25-year-old fullback could be available for a cut-price £3 million. Lambert is keen on Naughton, who played under him at Norwich City two seasons ago.
Naughton has been in and out of the team at Spurs, covering either right or left back when injury and suspensions have left the likes of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose unavailable. He and Walker joined Tottenham together from Sheffield United in 2009 for undisclosed fees.
Since Tim Sherwood took over as Hotspur head coach from Andre Villas-Boas, Naughton has played just one game. Villa have chopped and changed their fullbacks this season with Leandro Bacuna and another Blades academy product Matthew Lowton getting games on the right.
Joe Bennett and Antonio Luna – a summer signing from Sevilla – have vied for the left back berth.

Can Southampton do the double over West Brom in revenge of last season’s meetings?
The big news in the build-up to this match has been the appointment of Pepe Mel as head coach of West Brom after weeks of negotiation between the two parties – speculation suggests that initially Mel did not want to work with the current backroom staff at the Midlands club.
And it has not taken long for the comparisons to begin between Mel and Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Both managers are renowned for playing attacking, high-intensity football and both have had similar track records in Spain, helping their respective punch above their weight, before poor runs saw them lose their job respectively.
The Baggies will be hoping to that appoint of Mel can have a similar effect to that of Pochettino,...

West Bromwich Albion have named Pepe Mel as their new head coach on an 18-month contract.
The Spaniard, 50, spent three years at the helm of Real Betis, but was sacked in early December and replaced by Juan Carlos Garrido. He has had 14 years in management.
Albion dispensed with Steve Clarke before Christmas, leaving assistant Keith Downing in caretaker charge over the festive period. He will remain in the dugout for the away trip to Southampton with the incoming Mel watching from the stands.
Mel held talks with the Baggies last month, but they broke down as he wanted to bring his own backroom staff to The Hawthorns. It is understood he has since agreed to work with Downing and Albion goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely.
Talking to West Brom’s official website, club Sporting & Technical Director Richard Garlick said:

Woeful West Ham’s Fa Cup mauling at the hands of Nottingham Forest has left manager Sam Allardyce on the brink at Upton Park, according to the sack race.
The 5-0 3rd round defeat on Sunday was the Hammer’s worst in the third round since way back in 1926 and compounded what has already been a truly miserable season so far.
West Ham are currently a point and a place off the foot of the Premier League table with the relegation-haunted side win-less in their last five games in all competitions.
Tonight they face Manchester City in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-finals and another demoralising defeat could lead to Allardyce getting the boot, regardless of the fact the club’s owners only this week issued a vote of confidence.
Allardyce’s odds of becoming the next topflight coaching casualty have tumbled in recent...

West Brom must be starting to lose patience with Nicolas Anelka. At the start of the season, it looked like the Baggies had pulled off a clever piece of transfer business with the signing of the 34-year-old. However, it’s a gamble that has ultimately backfired on the club – and maybe cost Steve Clarke his job in some respects.
At the end of the day, the club are involved in a relegation battle at the bottom of the table – and simply can’t afford to rely on Anelka any longer. This is all especially the case with the French forward likely to be banned for a lengthy spell due to his anti-semitic goal celebration during his side’s 3-3 draw with West Ham.

Relations between Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay and the club’s owner Vincent Tan are approaching break point as the Malaysian billionaire will not be freeing up funds for January.
Mackay said he wanted to sign three players in the winter window following the win over West Bromwich Albion – a result which conversely cost Baggies boss Steve Clarke his job. Bluebirds chief executive Simon Lim has swiftly told the man that took Cardiff into the Premier League he won’t receive a ‘single penny’.
The club hierarchy has also accused Mackay and former head of recruitment Iain Moody of overspending in the summer, which explains the sudden hard-line stance on transfers and why the latter was sacked. Without that key ally, the Scot has been vulnerable but refuses to quit.

West Brom have sacked manager Steve Clarke after a disastrous turn of results left them just two points and two places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Clarke had earlier led the Baggies through an impressive period of form that saw his side pick up a 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford followed by spirited draws against Arsenal and Chelsea.
But Albion’s 1-0 defeat by Cardiff on Saturday – their fourth straight league loss – proved to be the end of Clarke’s reign at the club, a year-and-a-half after replacing Roy Hodgson.
Clarke’s dismissal was followed by the sacking of Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas on Monday, meaning a quarter of Premier League clubs have dismissed their managers this season as West Brom launch their search for a replacement.

West Bromwich Albion have sacked head coach Steve Clarke after 18 months in charge at The Hawthorns.
Former Chelsea right back Clarke, 50, saw the Baggies slump to a fourth successive Premier League defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday, leaving them two points and as many places above the drop.
Albion have only won seven of the 34 league matches they have played in the calendar year of 2013. The West Midlands outfit lost top scorer Romelu Lukaku in the summer when his loan spell from Chelsea came to an end and he was sent out to Everton instead.
Clarke had spells as assistant at Chelsea, West Ham and Liverpool before stepping up at West Brom into his first full-time management role. He won less than a third of his 59 games in charge.
A Baggies club statement confirmed Clarke had been placed on gardening leaving along with number two Kevin Keen.

Baggies captain Chris Brunt cancelled out Yoan Gouffran’s opener before Moussa Sissoko scored the pick of the goals to win it for the hosts at St James’ Park.
The Magpies saw their stunning form continue here, following up recent wins over top flight heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. Albion meanwhile saw an unbeaten run of three matches come to an end.
Alan Pardew welcomed Toon right fullback Mathieu Debuchy back from a ban in the only change to the side that started the victory over Norwich. Baggies boss Steve Clarke meanwhile made three alterations after seeing a two goal lead slip against West Midlands rivals Aston Villa on Monday.
Billy Jones and Liam Ridgewell returned on the flanks of defence, so Steven Reid and Goran Popov made way.

Injury News:
Both teams will be without several key men for this weekend’s three o’clock kick off. Starting with the home team, Brendan Rodgers will still be without chief creative talent Philippe Coutinho but believes the Brazilian should be back for next weekend’s clash with table toppers Arsenal. The little playmaker has been back in full training this week and should be chomping at the bit to return.
Another continuing absentee is expected to come in the form of left back José Enrique. The Spaniard missed last weekend’s draw with his former team Newcastle United with a long standing knee problem which seems to crop up every few weeks. Aly Cissokho is...

Can Liverpool keep up with their push for top spot in the Premier League or will their poor form against West Brom continue on Saturday?
Team News
Liverpool will welcome Lucas Leiva back into the side when they play host to West Brom, after the midfielder missed the 2-2 draw with Newcastle due to personal reasons.
Defender Jose Enrique is likely to miss out with a knee injury, while this game will come too soon for not-yet-fit Philippe Coutinho, who is expected back next weekend.
West Brom will continue to be without Scott Sinclair, with the winger still sidelined by a hamstring injury.
Goalkeeper Ben Foster also remains out, but the Baggies have no new injury concerns.
(BBC)
Key Stats
West Brom have won four of their last five encounters with Liverpool.
Daniel Sturridge has scored 13 goals in his last 13 league games.

A hard fought draw at the Hawthorns ended Arsenal’s impressive run of away victories but on reflection they will consider themselves fortunate to escape with a point.
If ex-Gunner Nicolas Anelka had his shooting boots on he may have condemned his former club to their first defeat since the opening day of the season. Twice in the opening moments of the second half Anelka had guilt edge chances to double the Baggies advantage only to miscontrol the first opportunity in front of an open goal and then narrowly curl the ball wide when bearing down on Schezney.
The first half was a rather tame affair with West Brom happy to surrender possession while defending deep and Arsenal unable to find the passing rhythm that had served so well this term.

It may be heresy to say this but Arsenal may need to sacrifice this week’s Capital One cup tie against West Bromwich Albion this week.
After their flying start to the season, I won’t mention Aston Villa; some of the Gunners seemed to be running on empty in the second half against Stoke and look in badly need of a rest.
I think it would be disrespectful to a solid Baggies outfit, buoyed by a comprehensive win over Sunderland on Saturday, to think that a second string Arsenal could get a result at the Hawthorns.
Of course Steve Clarke could also rest some of his players for the upcoming tie but, with no other distractions he may see this as his side’s best chance of silverware. (Also on reflection still probably Arsenal’s!) On the basis that they should finish comfortably mid table this...

Jose Mourinho revisits Goodison Park for the first time in 6 years and much has changed since he was last in the away dugout at the impressive ground. Only 2 Everton players have survived from their 2006-07 campaign under David Moyes. Tim Howard was on loan from Manchester United and Leon Osman, who played in midfield in that season alongside Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill and Lee Carsley.
There have been impressive changes at Chelsea too in that time. Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard are the only ‘old guard’ that remain in the Chelsea side, an impressive feat in an ever-changing team. Since then, Frank Lampard has become Chelsea’s all-time top scorer as well as also making his 100th appearance for England (as well as Ashley Cole, who currently has 105 to his name)
What makes for most intriguing reading however is that Chelsea had 3 current...

Hull City are closing in on the transfer of West Brom striker Shane Long, according to Sky Sports News sources (and now being reported by ITV News).
The 26-year-old has reportedly been granted permission to take leave of the Republic of Ireland squad this evening and return to England as speculation grows of a potential move to the Kc Stadium. ITV News reports that Brom have given Long permission to hold talks with Steve Bruce’s newly promoted side over a switch.
Long recently spoke of the speculation surrounding his future, which is currently undecided with just one year left of his current deal and the option to sign for an extra 12 months.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, the former Reading man remarked:
“We’re still in talks. I have a year and an option left.
“I am looking forward to playing with West Brom and we’ll see how talks go.

Sky Sports News have just confirmed that Steve Clarke is currently attempting to bring Everton striker Victor Anichebe to the Hawthorns, to join Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon, who has been subject to a £6m bid.
Clarke has already brought in Morgan Amalfitano in on loan from Marseille for the rest of the season, and is looking to bolster his attacking options further after his side failed to score int he third consecutive game against Swansea yesterday, when they were beaten 2-0.
Last night, MailOnline said that West Brom had made a bid of £3.5million for the powerful Nigerian striker, who is contracted until June 2015.
That bid was turned down, according to MailOnline, but Sky Sports News have just confirmed that the Baggies are in talks with the Merseyside club for the striker. Any deal would have to be permanent, as West Brom have now used up their allocated number of temporary signings.

West Brom striker Nicolas Anelka is on the verge of retiring following the tragic death of his agent.
The Frenchman only joined the Baggies a month ago and featured in their first game of the season against Southampton, but was allowed to miss this weekend’s game against Everton on compassionate grounds.
Following his arrival at the Hawthorns after a brief spell with Italian champions Juventus, Anelka was considered manager Steve Clarke’s biggest coup in a transfer window that has also seen Scott Sinclair arrive from Manchester City.
However, the Baggies could soon find themselves with a shortage of firepower should the journeyman quit the game, leaving them with just Shane Long and the unsettled Peter Odemwingie as their only senior strikers.

West Brom have confirmed the signing on a season-long loan of Udinese striker Matej Vydra, according to Team Talk.
The Czech will be well known to English fans having enjoyed a successful loan spell at Watford last season, where he scored 22 goals to fire the Championship side to the final of the play-offs, form which alerted West Brom boss Steve Clarke.
Clarke, speaking on the club’s official website, said he was delighted to have landed Vydra.
“I’m delighted to welcome Matej to the club, he had a really good year with Watford and we believe he’s got the qualities to score goals at a higher level. Hopefully, he’ll show that this year with us.”
And the former Chelsea and Liverpool assistant manager also revealed he had been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old before making a move to land him on loan.
“We had Matej watched throughout last season.

West Brom could be set to hand Jermain Defoe a Premier League lifeline by hijacking Queens Park Ranger’s bid for the Tottenham striker, according to The Sun.
The 30-year-old has emerged as a surprise £6 million target for Qpr which would see him reunite with former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road.
Defoe is said to be open to a transfer but is concerned that dropping into the Championship would harm his World Cup credentials ahead of next summer’s tournament.
Baggies boss Steve Clarke could therefore hand the striker a Premier League lifeline and the chance to stay in the topflight by bringing him to the Hawthorns.
Defoe netted 15 Premiership goals last season but knows he will likely have to play second fiddle to the Lilywhite’s record signing Roberto Soldado when the new campaign gets back underway.
Soldado is expected to finally complete his £26.4 million move from Valencia today,...

Arguably, last season West Brom were the surprise package of the Premier League finishing in an impressive 8th position, but not before flirting with European positions at various stages of the season. In the end it was 3 defeats in the final 4 games that put a small dampener in what was a largely successful debut season for manager Steve Clarke.
The use of the loan system to grab Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea was an undoubted shrewd and clever move made by the manager that came to be repaid by the Belgian’s impressive tally of 17 strikes in the Premier League (which propelled him above any player’s total from his parent club).
However, he has now returned to the fold at Chelsea under José Mourinho and has told the club’s TV channel he wants to be an integral part of the team for the upcoming season.

West Brom will be without Youssouf Mulumbu, who will serve the first of his three-match bans against visitors Arsenal following his dismissal against West Ham last week.
However, the Baggies are boosted by the return of James Morrison, who returns from a hamstring injury.
Arsenal look like they will have to wait a little longer for the return of Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere.
The duo are back in training but have only “an outside chance” of featuring, according to assistant boss Steve Bould.

Arsenal have fond memories of the Hawthorns. They clinched Champions League qualification on this ground on the final day of last season and will be hoping for a similar success this weekend as they continue their push for a top four spot.

It’s often been said about Steven Gerrard, given his penchant for dramatically decisive and crucially timed moments of magic, that the Liverpool captain is working to a script; that his moments of magic are so regular and wondrous that they could only be written by storytellers.
This was one script that got lost in translation.
As Liverpool-born Gerrard placed the ball on the penalty spot, where hordes of Liverpool players had previously fought to no avail in a crushing evening against West Bromwich Albion, Gerrard knew he had done this a thousand times before. In his garden as a child, on the training pitch as a man, and in some of Liverpool’s biggest games as a captain.
But this time, Gerrard was going to miss.
It was inevitable, really.
It was in the way Luis Suarez had bought the penalty from Jonas Olsson after fairly minor contact, and...

Ahead of the game, there’s a question mark hanging over Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who was forced to pull out of England’s midweek friendly with Brazil at Wembley thanks to a thigh problem, and will be assessed. Brendan Rodgers will no doubt hope for the kind of miraculous recovery that allows Manchester United and Arsenal’s injured international players to suddenly perk up after a friendly they were supposed to play is over.
Raheem Sterling, who also pulled out of the squad, is also fit, while Rodgers might welcome new Brazilian signing Philippe Coutinho into his first team, after his first week of training. He may need some time after a delayed start to his Liverpool career.

West Brom have had an impressive start to the season under new manager Steve Clarke, and their opponents this week will not be looking forward to their visit to the Hawthorns as they currently prop up the rest of the table.
It appears that so many signings in a short amount of time may have had a detrimental affect on Mark Hughe’s squad, and after his promise to the fans of not being involved in a relegation dog-fight this time around, he will be hoping that those words do not come back to haunt him. It does not look pretty for Qpr at the minute, with the team having conceded the second most goals (13) behind Southampton (18) so far this term, and added with the weight of history against them – Hughes has never won a match at the Baggies as a manager – the omens do not look good.

Liverpool have jumped ahead of rivals Manchester United in the pursuit of signing Real Madrid playmaker Kaka, according to a report in Spanish news source Soy Madrista.
The source claims that Madrid may be willing to sell their Brazilian international outright, preferring to see the former World Player of the Year leave the Bernabeu permanently than allowing the 30-year-old to leave on loan as previously reported.
Despite the Merseyside club being unable to offer Champions League football next term or a realistic challenge for the Premier League title, the Anfield club may be able to offer Kaka more first team opportunities than at Old Trafford as new Kop boss Brendan Rodgers attempts to stamp his authority on his new side. At the weekend he didn’t get off to the best of starts with a 3-0 hammering at West Brom, now in the charge of former boss Kenny Dalglish’s...

Didn’t Steve Clarke read the script? His West Brom side were supposed to put up a brave fight and give a good account of themselves before falling to a couple of goals from a solid, progressive Liverpool. I know football can be unpredictable but, really, I wasn’t expecting that. To not only not win, but to lose, and in a way that screeched a terrifying reminder of last season right in our humbled little ears. Ouch! So yes, that was a painful defeat. Shoot me right in the face, that was tough to watch. But it’s not as black and white as it seems. Is it ever?
For half the game we weren’t bad. Not spectacular, not great, not really even good, but we weren’t bad. We were controlling events, crafted a couple of opportunities (including a header which Suarez should be kicking himself for missing) and looked steady enough.

They aren’t always the best sources for rumours, but an account on Twitter purportedly belonging to a football agent working with various players around England has suggested that Andy Carroll may very soon be the subject of a £16m bid from Tottenham Hotspur.
Here’s the offending Tweet:
Whether or not there is anything in the Tweet remains unconfirmed, but Carroll has already been the subject of two highly publicised bids this summer from West Ham and former club Newcastle United, and it seems Liverpool are looking to cash in on their £35m England frontman. He has also previously been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, where Andre Villas-Boas only has Jermain Defoe to play up-front at the minute.

Let the games begin.
New managers, new signings and brand new expectations will come to the fore at the Hawthorns, as yet another Barclays Premier League season kicks off.
It’s a rather strange sequence of events that has landed Brendan Rodgers and Steve Clarke up against each other on the first day of the 2012/13 season. The two worked together under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea up until 2008, with Clarke very much Rodger’s senior in a dynamic coaching staff involved around promoting youth.
Last season the two sat in competing benches as it drew to a close – Rodgers managing a surprisingly successful Swansea team at the Liberty Stadium, while Clarke stood as a first team coach with Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish at the helm. It would end up being the last game for those three men at their current clubs, with Dalglish being dramatically dismissed as manager of Liverpool as the summer started,...

Russian side Rubin Kazan are to reject West Bromwich Albion’s loan enquiry for former Newcastle United and Inter Milan forward Obafemi Martins, according to the Daily Mail.
Rubin seem dead set on the Nigerian international leaving on a full transfer rather than a temporary move to Steve Clarke’s side, or any club that may be interested for that matter. Rubin Manager Kurban Berdyev is pushing to recoup around £3 million and is adamant that no loan move will be considered.
The player’s own wage demands of around 40k a week would also provide a major stumbling block for a permanent move to the Hawthorns, with the club’s hierarchy unlikely to want to pay such high wages on a forward who has been less than prolific over his club career. It’s difficult to see Steve Clarke paying such high wages when the likes of Peter Odemwingie, Shane...

Ben Foster has completed his move from Birmingham City to West Bromwich Albion.
Foster spent last season on loan at the midlands club and the Baggies have been chasing his signature on a permanent basis for some time. He was voted the club’s player of the year last season and played a major role in the club securing a place in the top 10 of the Premier League.
He had also been strongly linked with a move to Qpr, but the Londoners signed Robert Green from West Ham instead. Foster had always maintained he would be happy to stay at West Brom, however, and this afternoon confirmed the news of his transfer on Twitter.
“Really happy to have just signed for West Bromwich Albion, thx to the fans for making me feel so welcome last year, can’t wait to get started”

After interviewing a number of experienced candidates for the job, the West Brom owners last week hired former Liverpool number two Steve Clarke to fill the managerial vacancy at the Hawthorns. The Baggies job will be his first as manager of a football team.
Here’s five reasons why his appointment is a huge gamble;
1. Curse of the Number 2
Steve McLaren, Carlos Queiroz, Ray Harford, Les Reed, Sammy Lee, Tony Adams, Terry O’Connor…the list of assistant managers who have failed in the top job could fill every page of a newspaper. The list of successes – including Bob Paisley, Bill Nicholson, Roberto Di Matteo (arguably) – is much shorter, but, importantly, all of them were promoted internally.
Steve Clarke is not only stepping into the manager’s shoes for the first time, but he is also moving to a new club. Roy Hodgson did a steady if unspectacular job at West Brom,...

Rafael Benitez, Michael Laudrup, Andre Villas-Boas, Fabio Capello, Roy Keane, Ralf Rangnick, Alex McLeish and Juan Carlos Garrido. That is just a short list of experienced managers who are currently unemployed. Not for a second do I think that all of them would be available to a club with the financial constraints of West Brom.
With Chris Hughton taking the Norwich job, Steve Bruce going to Hull and Roberto Martinez’s loyalty to Dave Whelan making a mockery of all other manger – chairman relationships. Where exactly were West Brom supposed to look for a new manager?
“From the outset, we decided to pursue candidates who are renowned for their coaching ability and Steve was very much at the forefront of our thoughts because of the clubs he has worked at and the high regard he is held in within the game”.
Dan Ashworth, West Brom Technical Director, said that to the West Brom website.
