He was first famous for calling himself "The Joan Collins Fan Club" but after a while got into copyright difficulties so had to revert to his own name.

He did a voice-over for a television commercial for Citrus Bloo toilet cleaner. The exact same commercial was originally voiced by another camp comedy legend, Kenneth Williams.

He attended Berkhamsted Boys' school (private) in Hertfordshire and hated every minute because he was bullied for being camp.

In the Independent on Sunday 2006 Pink List - a list of the most influential gay men and women - he came no. 39, same as last year.
