The women of The View have never been afraid to speak their mind and hold power to account throughout its 25-year history. Joy Behar has been there since the beginning and has challenged people on their views during that time. Her latest segment on the show, “Joy’s Banned Book Club,” aims to shine a light on books that are being removed from school libraries around the country.

With the rise of conservative extremism around the country, state and local leaders are using their power to restrict access to books in schools. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, for example, has used his “Stop Woke” Act as a way to remove books that have been taught in schools for decades such as To Kill a Mockingbird.

The View cohost Joy Behar announced on-air during today episode that the show will introduce a weekly segment called “Joy’s Banned Book Club,” with the inaugural selection of the 2005 children’s book And Tango Makes Three.
The book, written by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell with illustrations by Henry Cole, is based on the real-life story of two Central Park Zoo male penguins who form a bond and raise a newly born chick. Since its publication, And Tango Makes Three has won numerous literary awards, but last month the book was deemed unsuitable for elementary students and banned by the Escambia County School Board, near Pensacola, Florida, for what the board called “sexual innuendo.”
“This is not some kinky Shades of Grey for penguins,” Behar said on the show today. “It’s a sweet, graceful way to introduce children to the concept of acceptance of same sex relationships and non-traditional families.

It's bad enough that Stabler doesn't listen to Bell.
As of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 6, she has two officers who do whatever they want rather than listen to her instructions.
Reyes' disobedience was probably a one-time thing, but still.
Reyes went on a personal mission to stop Leonard from abusing a new generation of foster kids. Someone should have realized that's what he was doing as soon as he went off the grid.
Bell knew his secret and that he would stop at nothing to get justice for his foster brothers, even the murderous Vaughn.

Rick Gonzalez's acting was beyond impressive during this confrontation. It was impossible to tell whether Reyes' tears over not being sexually abused like the other boys were real or fake. His eyes got incredibly huge when Leonard claimed he comforted broken boys.

The bodies are piling up.
Organized crime cases always end up like this, with as many deaths as a Shakespearean tragedy. The closer Stabler and Bell get to the truth, the more people end up dead.
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 4 featured a bloody suicide and a bunch of near misses for Reyes and Kenny. Thank goodness Reyes made it out of his undercover assignment in one piece.
Bell's attitude toward undercover work was the weakest part of an otherwise solid episode. That has got to go!
She carries the ghost of Gina Capanelli every day. So we are going to do this my way.

Okay cinema, you’ve been taunting us with films concerning things we can’t enjoy because of the pandemic. A couple of days ago it was renting an online getaway home, before that, it was road trips and movies set in faraway lands. Now, it’s the concert experience. This somewhat new release isn’t about a touring rock n’ roll band or a hard-partying country crooner (they’ve been doing a variation of the movies’ solution with drive-in concerts and simulcasts). We’re entering the world of classical music, with a profile of a celebrated pianist, so an indoor venue, a hall or auditorium, is preferred for the acoustics and intimacy. Oh, playing the “keyboard virtuoso’ is an actor that garnered lots of press and praise earlier this year for returning to the role that made him world-famous several decades ago. But he still wants to show us his...

Happy Saturday, ladies and gentlemen. Today, we once again bring the review round-up to you fine folks. Today we’re catching up on a pair of films that I simply wasn’t able to get around to and put reviews up of until now. The two movies getting this particular treatment here are independent titles, as you might imagine, and as tends to be the case, they’re quite different from each other. The dueling indies in question are the drama Coda, as well as the historical thriller Incitement. Are either of them worth your time this weekend? Read on to find out what I thought… — Coda Patrick Stewart deserves to get more starring roles in major motion pictures. Even just a small independent drama like this is the sort of thing that he can really sink his teeth into. Sadly, while Coda does have a quality Stewart performance, it...

"So just play, Henry... Play for them. I'll be listening..." Gravitas Ventures has debuted an official trailer for indie drama called Coda, the feature directorial debut of writer turned filmmaker named Claude Lalonde. This premiered at a film festival last year but hasn't shown up anywhere else, and will be released on VOD at the end of this month. Patrick Stewart stars as a famous pianist struggling with stage fright and sadness late in his career finds inspiration with a free-spirited music critic he connects with. Katie Holmes plays the critic, named Helen, and the cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, Letitia Brookes, and Drew Davis. Never heard of this film before, which is strange, but it looks rather sweet. Always like films about pianists. Here's the official Us trailer (+ poster) for Claude Lalonde's Coda, direct from Gravitas' YouTube: A famous pianist named Henry Cole (Patrick Stewart) struggling with stage fright...
