Following an acclaimed pilot that aired last year, hit web series “Dreaming Whilst Black,” has been commissioned for a full six-part TV series for BBC Three and iPlayer.
The pilot was adapted from the hugely popular web series co-written by Adjani Salmon and Ali Hughes. It gathered kudos for creator, star and co-writer Salmon, including the 2022 BAFTA craft award for Emerging Talent: Fiction, The Royal Television Society’s 2022 Breakthrough Award and the Soho House 59 Gen Now Award.
Loosely inspired by real life events, “Dreaming Whilst Black” follows aspiring filmmaker Kwabena (Salmon) in and out of reality as he tries to make it in “Babylon.” The problem is he’s broke, Black and born into a Jamaican family who wishes he was an accountant.
Global entertainment company A24 will co-produce and distribute the new six-part series internationally. It will be co-produced by BAFTA and Emmy nominated Big Deal Films.

Euphoria maker A24 is on board to co-produce and distribute a full season of acclaimed BBC Three comedy Dreaming Whilst Black.
The order comes after an award-winning pilot last year and four years after creator Adjani Salmon released his original short-form online series of the same name through the BBC. The series will air in 2023, with indie film studio A24 selling it internationally.
The pilot’s producer Big Deal Films is co-producing the six-part series, which comes from Salmon, whose pilot last year won him a BAFTA Craft Award for Emerging Talent: Fiction and the Royal Television Society’s 2022 Breakthrough Award among others. A wedding, an engagement and a journey to another planet — fans got all that and more in the series finale of “Roswell, New Mexico” on Monday night. And according to showrunner Chris Hollier, a lot of the night’s events were always the plan for the pod squad — except maybe Malex’s wedding.
Don’t worry, Michael Guerin (Michael Vlamis) and Alex Manes (Tyler Blackburn) were always meant for each other. Even Blackburn told TheWrap he’d have been “pissed” if the men didn’t get the ending they deserved. And indeed, Hollier told TheWrap this week that the “Roswell” writers “always knew there was a happy ending” for the pairing.
“We’d always talked about, like, the fact that we were starting Season 4 with a proposal, we expected people would have a wedding,” Hollier explained. “So how can we surprise them with what that wedding would be? And the answer was,...

Nathan Dean as Max Evans and Jeanine Mason as Liz Ortecho in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 4 episode 13
The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 13 serves as both the season and series finale. Picking up seconds after the end of episode 12, “How It’s Going to Be“ begins with Clyde easily stopping Isobel and Max’s attack. Rosa (Amber Midthunder) concentrates on tuning in on Clyde’s frequency and manages to free herself from his restraint.
Rosa surprises Clyde by smashing him over the head with a board, which gives Max (Nathan Dean) time to prepare to use the blue flame. Unfortunately, Clyde also uses the flame and knocks everyone over before kidnapping Rosa and escaping in a car.
The #PodSquad discuss their next move and Bonnie suggests they need to destroy the portal before Clyde can use it. Michael (Michael Vlamis) thinks they should hold off on that drastic move and Max agrees.

Jeanine Mason, Michael Trevino, Amber Midthunder, Nathan Dean, and Lily Cowles in ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ season 4 episode 11
Clyde meets with Jones as The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico season four episode 11 opens with a flashback to their time on Oasis. Jones offers Clyde a position in his inner circle, convincing Clyde that he’ll share his enormous powers if he accepts.
Clyde agrees and is branded with the alien symbol. Jones welcomes him to the family.
Flash-forward to the present-day and Rosa (Amber Midthunder) confronts Liz (Jeanine Mason) about her erratic behavior and warns her sister that her addiction to the alien mist is going to end badly. Rosa notes Liz has moved out of Max’s place and is basically destroying her life, but Liz doesn’t care.

Now, this is the Roswell we know and love.
Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 Episode 5 was the best installment so far this season, and coincidentally it was also the hour where we got a lot of information dropped into our lap. And while sometimes an hour feels so top-heavy with reveals that it becomes bloated and overwhelming, this was the exact opposite.
We got just enough to whet our appetites and move into the next phase of the season.
The big shapeshifter reveal at the end of Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 Episode 4 hung over the hour significantly as we learned some more about Tezca's mission and just whose body she was inhabiting.
Things have been off with Max since Jones showed up on the scene. And, hell, if we're being honest, things have always felt off with him. And while he's tried to almost suppress his alien side, especially as...

The Roswell, New Mexico TV show is one of those rare TV series that was cancelled before its newest season even debuted. While it appears that this CW show's fate has been sealed, could a fifth season renewal be possible if the ratings for season four are good enough? Stay tuned.
A sci-fi drama series, the Roswell, New Mexico TV show stars Jeanine Mason, Nathan Dean, Michael Vlamis, Lily Cowles, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino, and Amber Midthunder. Based on the Roswell High book series (which was also the basis for a 1999 TV series), this series centers on Liz Ortecho (Mason), who returns to town after a decade away. After reconnecting with her old crush, Roswell Pd Officer Max Evans (Parsons), she learns that he, his sister Isobel (Cowles), and their friend Michael (Vlamis),...

The best part of this first hour is just seeing the residents of Roswell back on-screen.
It feels like forever since the events of Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 Episode 13, yet it also feels like no time has passed as we jump right back into the shenanigans and the drama right away.
Roswell, New Mexico Season 4 Episode 1 is a set-up hour. It's full of check-ins and relationship talks and a little mystery, leaving us with a gasp-worthy ending you may not have seen coming.
It's been a minute since the series has talked about the Alighting, otherwise known as the 'bring the savior home' event that Noah talked of way back in Roswell, New Mexico Season 1.
The phrase is uttered here by Tezca, one-third of a new triad that blows into Roswell and literally incites chaos within their first day.

“Roswell, New Mexico” returns for its final season premiere on Monday night, and it’s bringing an old friend back into the fold — at least temporarily. Max Evans’ old partner and friend Jenna Cameron is back, and she needs his help solving what very well may be a crime committed by aliens.
Of course, this time around, Jenna Cameron (Riley Voelkel) is actually Agent Cameron, having taken a job with the FBI. But to be fair, she’s not the only one with a new title. Max (Nathan Dean Parsons) has one too; he’s currently the sheriff of Roswell (even if only in the interim). Their banter is as strong as ever, as Jenna needles Max by informing him that she only took the job “so I could outrank you, Evans.”
Jokes aside, there is a reason that Max was the one called in to help solve a bank...

Fans of Roswell, New Mexico, were given some bad news last week.
The sci-fi reboot has been canceled after four seasons.
The good news?
We still have an entire season to watch before the residents of the alien-filled town say goodbye for good.
The CW dropped the official trailer this week, and it teases the coming events in a big way.
While the show isn't getting a pre-planned conclusion, the ending is supposed to be satisfying enough for longtime fans.
“Mark Pedowitz [and] his team at The CW had the class [and] grace to warn the shows that they might not survive, even if The CW wanted them,” executive producer Julie Plec tweeted of Roswell and Legacies over the weekend.
“Because of that, the season finales of both shows were carefully crafted to also work as series finales.”

If you were a teen or tween during the 90s, then you probably have lots of fond memories of Jason Behr. He broke onto the acting scene during the early 90s, and within a few years, he was landing spots on some very popular TV shows. He got his first big break in 1995 when he was cast in Sherman Oaks. His biggest role came a few years later when he earned the role of Max Evans in the series Roswell. His role in the series helped him build a large fan base, but when the show ended in 2002

Max Evans, whose New Mexico cowboy novels “The Rounders” and “Hi-Lo Country” were made into movies, died on Wednesday in hospice care at the Va Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M. He was 95.
His widow, Pat Evans, told the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper that her husband rode off to the “great mystery in the sky”: “He’s on a whole new adventure now.”
Evans also authored “Sam Peckinpah, Master of Violence,” a book about the making of the 1970 film “The Ballad of Cable Hogue,” and collaborated with Robert Nott on “Goin’ Crazy With Sam Peckinpah and All Our Friends.”
Evans, a native of Ropes, Texas, gained public notice with his 1960 novel “The Rounders,” about two modern-day cowboys foiled by an impossible-to-tame horse. Writer-director Burt Kennedy made a film version in 1965, starring Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda.

Roswell, New Mexico co-showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie is exiting the series ahead of the third season “due to fundamental differences”, MacKenzie said Friday in a statement posted on social media.
In her statement which reads in part, MacKenzie said, “I have made the difficult decision to resign from my role on Roswell, New Mexico. I do not take this decision lightly, but ultimately due to fundamental differences, I must depart and entrust Roswell, New Mexico to capable hands. I am so proud of what we built over the last two years, and I believe in the heart and soul of the show: asking tough questions, striving to make the world better, amplifying marginalized voices, and fighting the good fight.”

Well, Max Evans found his family. Or at least a part of his family, or possibly, if we're going by the logic of the classic Mary Kate & Ashley movie It Takes Two, a guy who is completely not related to him but just happens to look exactly like him. It turns out there was a stowaway on the ship that brought Michael and Isobel's mothers to Earth, and he also survived the massacre. He was a farmer named Mr. Jones for a while, but he's been locked in a cage underground for decades until Max, with the help of Liz's science, accidentally unlocked the cage and woke him up. And now Max, Isobel, and Michael have let him fully out of the cage, and have discovered that he looks exactly like...

It's been a weird season of Roswell, New Mexico so far for Max Evans (Nathan Parsons). After dying via sacrifice in the season one finale, he's been dead for months, appearing only in nightmares had by Rosa (Amber Midthunder) and hallucinations had by Isobel (Lily Cowles). Now, he's been revived, thanks to the heart of an alien enemy and a little help from the formerly dead girl he sacrificed himself for. We all knew he'd be back eventually (he's Max Evans), but it took a while, and it certainly took a toll on both Max and Nathan. "It was definitely harder than I thought it would be," Parsons tells E! News. "First couple of months of filming was sort of...

Nathan Dean had the time of his afterlife working on Season 2 of Roswell, New Mexico.
After sacrificing himself in the CW drama’s first season finale, Dean’s character — rugged cowboy alien Max Evans — spent the first few episodes of the show’s sophomore season on the other side of the veil, which meant that Max had to chill in his pod until Liz could figure out a way to revive him. Whether he liked it or not.

This Roswell review contains spoilers.
Roswell Season 2 Episode 4
The obvious theme of this episode of Roswell is all about playing God—how Max Evans did it when he killed Noah Bracken, Isobel Evans does it when she chooses to reunite Rosa Ortecho with her father to right the wrongs from so many years ago, and you could even say how Liz and Kyle are trying to go beyond the edge of science, or the way Kyle is studying surgeons at work, who if Grey’s Anatomy is to be believed, often think of themselves as Gods.
But this episode was really about family, especially how you make a family. Arturo Ortecho isn’t Rosa’s biological father, but there’s no denying the way he mourned her, or the look on his face when he saw her alive in front of him again. Some 70 years ago, Louise and Nora were hiding out and found Mr.

At the end of season one of Roswell, New Mexico, Rosa (Amber Midthunder) was brought back to life after she was discovered to be preserved in an alien pod underground. Unfortunately, Max Evans (Nathan Dean Parsons) had to sacrifice himself to save her, and now not only does Rosa have to live with that guilt, but she's also got Max contacting her from what may or may not be purgatory, asking her to prevent Liz from saving him. Plus, she can really only hang out in Max's house, hidden away from the rest of the world doing her own kind of social distancing. That's a lot to deal with, and so last we saw at the end of last week's...

There's no need to wonder if Roswell, New Mexico will be cancelled or renewed this time around. The show was renewed for a third season prior to the second season's launch. How will the series do in the ratings in year two? Will The CW end up regretting that early decision? Stay tuned.
A CW sci-fi drama, Roswell, New Mexico stars Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino, Lily Cowles, Trevor St. John, and Amber Midthunder. Based on the Roswell High book series (which was also the basis for a 1999 TV series), this series centers on Liz Ortecho (Mason), who returns to town after a decade away. After reconnecting with her old crush, Roswell Pd Officer Max Evans (Parsons), she learns that he, his sister Isobel (Cowles), and their friend Michael (Vlamis), are aliens. In season two, Max...

This Roswell review contains spoilers.
Roswell, New Mexico Season 2 Episode 1
When we left them last season on Roswell, New Mexico, Max vanquished Noah and sacrificed himself to save Rosa. That makes the dreamy opening – a figment of Liz’s grief struck imagination – all the more cruel. Max Evans is dead. Or, well, not exactly dead, but he definitely can’t come back – at least according to the version of him that Rosa is seeing, thanks to the power of the psychic handprint.
It’s so good to have Rosa back. Actor Amber Midthunder was such a bright spot last season, even when her character’s story was decidedly tragic. There are moments, like when she abruptly tells Kyle that Max is dead, that she sounds exactly like her sister. Seeing the sisters goof around listening to Meredith Brooks and fight over clothes, their relationship feels so deep and full of love.

Welcome back to Roswell, New Mexico.
If you thought things were crazy before, then you're in for a rude awakening.
On Roswell, New Mexico Season 2 Episode 1 Max spends his time floating lifelessly in a pod, while his friends and family deal with the aftermath of his death.
But is he really gone for good? There's no easy answer to that question.
Realistically speaking, there's no way that Max Evans has been written off of the show. Max's death was never concerning, but it was, however, surprising.
Instead of wondering if they're going to bring him back, I was more interested in how.
Max's sacrifice provided a lot more to the series than a shocking cliffhanger. It allowed all the characters to have their own emotional journeys.
Ever since Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 1, Max's family has relied on him more heavily than they seem to understand.
While Liz went ten years without speaking to him,...

Is Max Evans really dead?
That's been the question on the minds of Roswell, New Mexico fans ever since the first season came to a dramatic conclusion last year.
Weeks ahead of the sophomore debut, The CW has dropped the official trailer, and we have a lot of questions.
Despite leaving us hanging over a cliff wondering whether Max stages a surprise return from the dead, the trailer finds Liz confirming his death.
It's a bitter pill to swallow, but on a series filled with otherworldly twists and turns, the more likely scenario is that Nathan Parsons will reprise his role at some point.
Poor Liz has to explain to Rosa why she looks different. Rosa has not aged a day since being killed off 10 years ago, thanks in large part to her being brought back from the dead.
With Rosa being in the pod for the 10 years, it certainly...

“I’m going to explain everything to you,” Liz tells her newly resurrected sister in the extended trailer for Roswell, New Mexico‘s upcoming second season. And she has a lot to explain.
Honestly, where should she even begin? The CW drama’s first season ended with Max sacrificing himself to bring back Rosa, a favor Liz intends to repay. As she explains in the trailer, “Max gave me back the only thing that mattered to me. Now, it’s my turn.”

In the aftermath of the tragic sacrifice of Max Evans (Nathan Dean) and return of Rosa Ortecho (Amber Midthunder) in the season one finale of Roswell, New Mexico, the mysterious town seemed like a place where anything could happen. It’s only fitting then that the second season will see two surprising recurring guest stars: Gaius Charles from Friday Night Lights and Jason Behr, the actor who portrayed Max Evans in the original Roswell series. Cast and producers of The CW/Warner Bros. Television’s sophomore series announced the cast additions during Roswell, New Mexico’s New York Comic Con 2019 panel on Sunday, October 6. Gaius Charles, who played Smash on Friday Night Lights, will recur as Bronson, a local farmer with a strong moral compass that leads him to see the good in people –– and aliens –– in a time of great prejudice. Casting
Jason Behr and Gaius Charles have joined the cast of the second season of “Roswell, New Mexico.” Behr played the role of Max Evans in the 1999 WB series “Roswell,” but his role in this version of the story has yet to be confirmed. Charles, who is well-known for his previous role on “Friday Night Lights,” will portray Bronson, who is described as “a local farmer with a strong moral compass that leads him to see the good in people — and aliens — in a time of great prejudice. Ultimately, his quest to protect those he loves pits him against forces far more powerful than he is.” Both men will recur on the CW drama, which is produced by My So-Called Company, Amblin Television...

In a fascinating bit of retro casting, it was announced Sunday at New York Comic Con’s Warner Bros. Television panel that Jason Behr—star of the 1999 series Roswell—will join the Roswell, New Mexico cast in a recurring role. Also added to The CW/Warner Bros. Television’s sophomore series will be Gaius Charles, who played fan favorite Brian “Smash” Williams on Friday Night Lights.
Behr played Max Evans in the late-‘90s series; that same character (played by Nathan Dean) ended season 1 dead after sacrificing himself to resurrect Rosa Ortecho (Amber Midthunder), the long-dead sister of his love, Liz (Jeanine Mason).
“We are very, very lucky that Jason is joining us for a multi-episode arc, at least four,” said showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie during the panel. “I was sitting and watching him work and thinking, I can’t believe he’s here. It’s been an extraordinary experience.

And with that iconic introduction on October 6, 1999, one of the most fervent online fanbases was formed. Everything’s coming up Rosa! Amber Midthunder, who plays Liz’s older sister on Roswell, New Mexico, has been promoted to a series regular for the CW drama’s upcoming second season, TVLine has learned.
Though the late Rosa Ortecho was only seen in flashbacks for most of Roswell‘s first season, this week’s game-changing finale ended with hunky alien savior Max Evans using his otherworldly powers to revive her, potentially losing his own life in the process.
“Rosa thinks she just woke up from a bad hangover, and she’s about to be very confused,” showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie tells TVLine.

Max Evans will do anything for the love of his life.
On Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 13, the hero of the story thought it would be a good idea to harness his powers, kill the villain, and resurrect the dead.
It was a genuinely emotional season finale that could have served as a series finale, but there has to be more, right?
When we started this journey on Roswell, New Mexico Season 1 Episode 1 Max was pining after Liz, all the while knowing about his involvement in covering up her sister's murder.
On "Recovering the Satellites," Max finally got the opportunity to get the girl, and that's something he never thought was possible.
Max: Listen to me, Michael. There is nothing Noah has to say that is worth keeping him alive.
Michael: I have family, Max. I had a mother. I saw her. She's been a few miles away our whole lives.

We all know those looks, a character spent a season battling their feelings for a crush and then there is that moment.
The other person isn't looking and our favorite character sneaks that glance that screams how in love they are with someone who has no idea.
It hurts our hearts because we just want those two to get together, and yet at the same time we love that for ourselves.
