When I started watching Skylines, I’ll admit the first thing that surprised me was that this is in fact the third movie. Thankfully with the recap given, this didn’t stop me from enjoying what was to come…
With the friendly alien hybrids now living on Earth, danger looms as a new virus starts to turn them against humans. Captain Rose Corley (Lindsey Morgan) finds herself coerced into leading an elite team of mercenaries on a mission to alien home world in order to try to save what is left of humanity.
The first thing I liked about Skylines is the fact there are plenty of familiar faces who are dependable at providing strong performances.

I had initially started this review with a brief history of the place in my heart that I have for the Skyline franchise but you know what? Let me just say that I am a total sci-fi nerd, I love alien invasion film and I especially love a flick that has the balls to have insane ambition and looks to create a wide reaching universe. Skyline has always been that franchise! A franchise that knows exactly what it is and where it wants to be; a franchise that for the budget they have, always pulls out the stops and impresses from start to finish; a franchise that lets be honest doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

Update: THR now reports that Renner actually broke his arms on the set of Tag, not Avengers: Infinity War.
Movie sets can be dangerous places. Sometimes people get injured and sometimes people die. Cameraman Conway Wickliffe was killed on the set of The Dark Knight in 2007, when the pickup truck driving parallel to a stunt car crashed into a tree. On 2012's The Avengers, stuntman Jeremy Fitzgerald slammed into a pile of bricks and tore off a chunk of his scalp. But, not even the actors themselves are out of harm's way. On the set of The Expendables, Sylvester Stallone injured his neck so badly during a fight scene with Steve Austin that he required a metal plate inserted into his neck during surgery. It happens, but thankfully today's news is not a death.
Variety reports that while filming Avengers: Infinity War, Jeremy Renner said he "broke his arms" during a stunt.

'Logan' movie with Hugh Jackman as the mutant Wolverine: 20th Century Fox's gamble results in one of the best superhero movies. 'Logan' movie review: 'Wolverine' trilogy concluded 'in surprising and rewarding fashion' The trailer for Logan, the final film in the standalone Wolverine trilogy, is set to Johnny Cash's funereal cover of “Hurt,” the already-depressing song by Nine Inch Nails. If there was ever a warning that a superhero film was going to trudge down a grim path, that's as unsubtle an indication as you're gonna get. It's a warning worth heeding, though. Logan is a long, grave, and violent neo-Western; a Dark Knight of the soul that earns its R-rating before its first scene is complete. For audiences whose appetite for Marvel's vaguely juvenile destructo-thons has congealed into cultural obligation and drudgery, Logan is a welcome expansion of what a superhero saga can be. And even...

In the Marvel Universe, there are few people as deadly with projectile weapons as Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, a circus performer-turned-superhero and mainstay member of The Avengers whose trademark is a bow and arrows. The character, played by two-time Academy Award–nominated actor Jeremy Renner, made a brief appearance onscreen this year in Thor and will have a featured role in next year's The Avengers, which is currently in production.
In a chilling case of life imitating art, stuntman Jeremy Fitzgerald nearly became a real-life victim of Hawkeye's dead-eye accuracy when a stunt he was performing for The Avengers went terribly wrong. According to TMZ, Fitzgerald was filming a scene last Friday in which he was supposed to be hit by an arrow and tumble 30 feet off of a building. However, Fitzgerald got tripped up and ended up slamming head-first into the building, narrowly missing "a razor sharp rain gutter.

The production of "The Avengers" has left a stuntman injured. Jeremy Fitzgerald, one of the stuntmen in the superhero flick, got scalped when he smashed his head into a brick while filming a scene with Hawkeye. However, Marvel claimed that the stuntman was "fine".
"He slid briefly along the side of the building," a spokesperson for Marvel further detailed incident as quoted by TMZ. "He got right back up and did several more takes," the spokesperson continued.
During the shooting on Friday, June 24, Fitzgerald was supposed to get hit with an arrow before falling 30 feet off a building. Unfortunate for the stuntperson, he caught his foot during the fall and found himself hitting the brick.
Feeling the injury was not heavy enough, Fitzgerald went back to work with a bandage on the bleeding scalp. According to the publication, Fitzgerald "narrowly missed a razor sharp rain gutter during the accident".

"The Avengers" is currently shooting and in addition to big superheroes and big special effects, the film also has big stunts. And on Friday, stuntman Jeremy Fitzgerald suffered a head wound during a stunt gone wrong. The plan was to be shot with an arrow and then fall 30 feet off a building. Unfortunately, he caught his foot on the way down and slammed his head into the brick wall, peeling a part of his scalp. Fitzgerald considers himself lucky, however, because he narrowly missed a razor-sharp rain gutter during the accident. And the best part... He didn't go to the hospital and didn't get any stitches. He simply put on a bandage and went back to work. "He got right back up and did several more takes," said a Marvel spokesperson. While shooting The Avengers a stunt went terribly wrong when Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye stuntman Jeremy Fitzgerald fell 30 feet and took a chunk of skin a hair off his scalp.
The stuntman told TMZ that his job was simple... It could have been worse, apparently he "narrowly missed a razor sharp rain gutter during the accident."
Jeremy then told TMZ that he "went right back to work after the fall ... no hospital, no stitches ... just a bandage." The guys gotta be some kind of a badass to want to go right back to work after an accident like this. At least he his head wasn't taken off in the fall.

A stuntman working on The Avengers has claimed that he narrowly avoided being decapitated in an on-set accident. Jeremy Fitzgerald lost part of his scalp while shooting the comic book team-up on Friday after a controlled fall resulted in him hitting his head against a brick floor. Fitzgerald was filming a sequence that involved him getting 'struck' by an arrow and safely plummeting 30-feet to the ground below, but was put off course after catching his foot on the way down. Despite his significant injury, Fitzgerald told TMZ that he was grateful to walk away from the incident intact (more)...

Last week, HeyUGuys were invited along to Robert Rodriguez Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas by Twentieth Century Fox for a very special trip to find out how their latest home entertainment release, Predators was created. We got to chat with the awesome production team at Troublemaker Studios, looking at everything from how they made the posters to how they created a real life alien planet out in the back lot – and all this in a little over a year.
In this interview you can find out all there is to know about the special effects legend that is, Greg Nicotero who has worked with Robert Rodriguez on all his movies + Steven Spielberg & Quentin Tarantino to name but a few. I contemplated editing this video down into a 5 minute vid but the man is so interesting that I thought you might as well have the whole thing. If you’d rather...

Stars: Steven Brand, Michael Leydon Campbell, Jeremy Fitzgerald, Emily Hardy, Vanessa Long, Mercedes McNab | Written and Directed by Michael A. Nickles
Leonard Karlsson, convicted for an unspecified crime against a minor is released on parole after five years. Horribly disfigured by other inmates whilst in prison, his face horribly mutilated, he seeks revenge on the 12 jurors who convicted him.
Michael Nickles’ film is a fairly standard horror flick, that while not reinventing the wheel, does come up with flashes of invention within a tried and tested formula.
The opening credits deal with both Karlsson’s crime, conviction and the attack on his person. Glitchy, stylistic, it never specifies exactly what he was accused of, or even if he was guilty. A character later refers to him as a “baby fucker”, but none of the jurors ever discuss the case. It’s a canny decision, preventing unneccesary exposition and...

VFX Shotgun blast to the head of actor Michael Campbell's head in Michael A. Nickles independent horror Xii.
I love the way this is set to such an upbeat tune, I'd love to see a whole horror movie set to ridiculously upbeat music.
If that little vfx shot has peaked your interest in the movie the synopsis is as follows: Claire Norris (Emily Hardy), a young waitress in a small-town diner, sat on a jury, along with eleven others and listened to the evidence against a man accused of a crime against a minor. After days of difficult deliberation, the man - Leonard Karlsson, Jr.(Jeremy Fitzgerald) - was found guilty.
In prison, the "unspoken rule" regarding such crimes was enforced - Karlsson was beaten by the other prisoners to within an inch of his life, his face severely disfigured as a result. Now out of prison, Karlsson returns...
