Ben (Raymond Lee) reunites with Hannah (Eliza Taylor), who reveals she came up with a formula to help him get home—the same Darpa code Ian (Mason Alexander Park) is working on in the present. However, someone needs to swap places with Ben—and Gideon Rydge (James Frain) is planning to do just that and change the timeline. He is Hannah’s son Jeffrey and blames Ben for his father’s death. Gideon kicks Addison (Caitlin Bassett), Ian, and Jenn (Nanrisa Lee) out of Quantum Leap. They reunite with Magic (Ernie Hudson), who was forced to resign and is ...

Heading into the two-part finale, the Quantum Leap team is short one member, with Gideon (James Frain), who provided the chip Ian (Mason Alexander Park) used to find Ben (Raymond Lee) and was none too pleased with what happened in the aftermath, insisting Magic (Ernie Hudson) fire Jenn (Nanrisa Lee). Instead, Magic resigned. “There’s a point when you live to fight again, and so sometimes you got to give up this battle, but you know that this is not the end of me,” Hudson tells TV Insider. “I’m more than what I appear to be. There’s something about the arrogance that Gideon has that assumes I have no other options or that I’m going to quietly disappear and let you come in and do whatever you want to do. So I think right away Magic is thinking, ‘Okay, what are the options?'” He also has...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 11 “The Outsider.”] If you thought Gideon Ridge (James Frain) shook things up when he made his entrance at the end of Episode 10, that’s nothing compared to what happens in the latest Quantum Leap. Gideon is none too pleased with Ian (Mason Alexander Park) for using the quantum chip he made for them that helped them find Ben (Raymond Lee)—he was missing for three years, though no time passed for the leaper—without his knowledge and refusing to give it back. Someone has to go, and since Ian is the best shot at finding Ben, it can’t be them. Tom (Peter Gadiot), as the Department of Defense representative, tells Magic (Ernie Hudson) he has to fire Jenn (Nanrisa Lee). Instead, Magic decides to resign. “Once he found out the truth about what Ian had been up to, I think he realized that something had to be done,” ...

We knew there’d be serious consequences for what Ian and Jenn did — hijacking the quantum chip from the affluent tech boss Gideon (played by James Frain), who then waltzed into their headquarters unannounced — but that didn’t make the fallout any less jarring.
Tuesday’s episode of Quantum Leap found Ian and Magic sitting across from Gideon, who made it clear someone would have to pay for stealing from him.

Joseph Kosinski is flying high off the success of “Top Gun: Maverick,” which debuted to a record-breaking 160 million over the Memorial Day weekend frame. The sequel is the first bonafide box office success for the director, who started his feature directorial career with Disney’s “Tron: Legacy.” That sequel earned 400 million worldwide, but that sum wasn’t enough for Disney to allow Kosinski to pursue an intended sequel under the title “Tron: Ascension.”
In a new interview with Vulture, Kosinski confirmed he had storyboarded and written the entire third “Tron” movie when Disney pulled the plug on the project in 2015. As the filmmaker said, “I got so close. I really tried.” Kosinski’s idea for “Tron 3” was to invert the franchise’s core structure. Instead of human characters being sucked into a video game world, the video game world would bleed into the real world and the film would...

“Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” is getting a new cut for its home entertainment release, and the extended version of the horror film gives a peek behind the scenes at the masterminds who designed the escape room death traps.
The “Escape Room” sequel will be available for digital release and on DVD and Blu-Ray with an additional 25 minutes of footage on Sept. 21. Among the changes are an alternate beginning and ending that hint at the villains behind the curtain of the Minos Escape Rooms.
TheWrap has an exclusive first look at the additional scene that reveals a brand-new subplot that didn’t make the theatrical cut. Here we meet one of the apparent higher-ups at Minos as he converses with his game master — and prisoner — Claire, as she unwittingly helps them design a series of traps that can kill the hero, Zoey.

Updated: Escape Room 2 will now open on July 16 instead of next year, where it had been scheduled for the first weekend of 2022. Sony already has the Kay Cannon-directed Camila Cabello musical Cinderella on July 16. For now, that movie will stay there as Sony monitors overseas markets.
There’s a chance that both Escape Room 2 and Cinderella will stay on that date given that they are targeted at different demographics. Warner Bros also has its HBO Max release Space Jam 2 on July 16 as does Searchlight with its Sundance horror acquisition The Night House.
Previously, January 25: Sony/Screen Gems Escape Room 2 will now open on Jan. 7, 2022.
The sequel to the $155M-plus horror film was recently taken off the theatrical release calendar. Previously Sony had the movie set to open on Dec. 30, 2020, then prior to that, Aug. 14, and then even before that date, April 17.

“Escape Room 2” has moved up its release to July.
The sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller will now debut on July 16, 2021, nearly six months earlier than its planned release date of Jan. 7, 2022.
With the box office beginning to revive after the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s possible that “Escape Room 2” moved up in the schedule to compete within the summer blockbuster timeframe. The first “Escape Room” was a hit at the box office, earning $155 million. “Godzilla vs. Kong” recently raked in the largest box office gross during the pandemic with $31 million, and this past weekend featured a fierce box office battle between “Mortal Kombat” and “Demon Slayer,” signaling to the industry that moviegoers are certainly eager to return to theaters.
The first “Escape Room” film follows six strangers who are brought together to participate in an escape room game, but soon learn they are pawns in a puzzle that could lead to life or death.

“Quantico” star Tracy Ifeachor, “Star Trek: Discovery’s” James Frain (left) and “Rocks” actor Sharon D. Clarke are set to star in BBC drama “Showtrial” from “Bodyguard” producer World Productions.
The five-part series, which will air on flagship channel BBC One, is now in production. Ben Richards (“The Tunnel”) writes, while Zara Hayes (“Poms”) directs.
Ifeachor, Frain and Clarke have been cast alongside Sinéad Keenan (“Little Boy Blue”), Celine Buckens (“Bridgerton”), Kerr Logan (“Strike”) and Lolita Chakrabarti (“Vigil”).
Filmed and set around Bristol, “Showtrial” explores how prejudice, politics and the media distort the legal process. The show centers on Talitha Campbell, the estranged daughter of a wealthy property developer, who is charged with conspiring to murder fellow university student Hannah Ellis.
The trial that follows places victim and accused — and their families — in the eye of a media storm. Into that storm enters Cleo Roberts, the duty solicitor on the night of Talitha’s arrest.

Right before the credits roll on the last episode of Community’s sixth and final season run, the hashtag “#andamovie” is displayed on a blank screen. This is an acknowledgement from creator/showrunner Dan Harmon and the series’ writers that the beloved sitcom has almost fulfilled a long-running request from its passionate fanbase.
For “six seasons and a movie” or alternatively the hashtag “#sixseasonsandamovie” has been Community’s fans rallying cry for through its run and even beyond its latest (and seemingly final) cancellation after six seasons. In fact, #sixseasonsandamovie remains a popular hashtag across social media feeds today, over five years after the final episode premiered.
So where does the phrase “six seasons and a movie” come from? And how did it come to be the de facto chant for legions of Community fans? The answer lies in the show itself…and also on a hilariously ill-fated, little known 2011 NBC series.

Starting off with a geek-dom S.O.S... I'm going to need some input on why Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Episode 6 is called "Lethe" and whether it really had anything at all to do with what happened.
I'm a huge Greek mythology fan and immediately recognized the title as the name of the river that grants oblivion or forgetting.
So, I think, maybe it's a reference to the memory that Sarek's mind is obsessed with as he is dying?
But, despite his comment to his Vulcan suicide bomber co-pilot, V'latak, it's not like he ever forgot that day. And Burnham hadn't forgotten it either so that doesn't work.
Then I look to Lorca and his whole "I blew up my previous crew to save them from Klingon torture and humiliation" revelation from Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Episode 5. But, again, he's never forgotten what he's done so pfft to that.

Where the premiere oriented the audience (somewhat) in the here and now of Burnham and the Shenzhou's crew, Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 Episode 2 is more concerned with where they came from.
It also spends a great deal of effort to further build credibility for this series in the Trek 'verse.
With the conflict ramping up dramatically, we get glimpses of various Klingon and Starfleet vessels and their respective crews.
The cinematic glory is pretty impressive.
And it's not just the tech and the politics that make us feel at home. Before there was Picard, before there was Kirk, before there was Star Fleet, there was Sarek.
What a brilliant move to tie St: Discovery into the 'verse with someone we've actually met before. Repeatedly.
After all, this isn't Star Wars where they can just throw in an early version of R2 or C-3Po to give us the twinges of nostalgia.

Finally, we've got a big bad for the final season.
Still, tech billionaire Oden Reichenbach, who was introduced on Elementary Season 7 Episode 5, seemed too layered to be called a "big bad."
That's thanks to James Frain, a regular for this season whose characters always end up being more than they seem.
One good example would be Theo Galavan, mayor and businessman who sought vengeance on the Wayne family featured on two seasons of Gotham.
A nice touch is the name Reichenbach, an homage to Reichenbach Falls, where Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Authur Conan Doyle meant to kill off Holmes and his arch-enemy Moriarty in the short story "A Final Solution."
Outrage by readers caused Doyle to back off any finality to Holmes' fate.
But the name does seem to indicate that a showdown between Sherlock and Moriarty is coming, which is how it should be.

The Twilight Zone Episode 8
Some scholars and fans of science fiction will tell you that the purpose of the genre isn’t to answer the fascinating question it poses, but instead, to simply ask those questions in ways that make you think.
In this sense, the latest episode of Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone reboot — “Point of Origin” — is exactly like The Twilight Zone of old; it dips us into an interesting premise, but ends before we can figure out exactly how to feel about it. Most forward-thinking people probably have a sympathetic view of “illegal” immigration, but what this episode does is try to push the controversies around immigration into another dimension — literally.

This Thursday on The Twilight Zone, Ginnifer Goodwin plays a suburban housewife “who wants to go home.” But as the official synopsis asks, “Where — and what — is home, really?”
This latest installment of the CBS All Access anthology, rebooted by filmmaker Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) and already renewed for Season 2, serves up a haunting take on immigration and “bystander apathy,” Goodwin says. And to reveal much more would be no fun, though we will note that James Frain (Gotham) and Zabryna Guevara (New Amsterdam) play key roles.

A familiar face is back with some thoughts about Joan Watson’s new ‘do in TVLine’s exclusive promo for Elementary‘s seventh and final season, premiering Thursday, May 23 at 10/9c on CBS.
“Explain the hair,” Sherlock’s former protégé Kitty (played by Ophelia Lovibond) demands. “I know a woman looking to shake things up when I see one.”
Could the Pi’s blond strands be a sign that she’s not enjoying her and Sherlock’s gig as consultants for Scotland Yard? “You aren’t happy in London,” someone says, and it sure sounds like it’s Kitty talking to Joan.

The signpost ahead reads “The Twilight Zone,” ushering viewers to a realm that at once feels familiar and yet is almost entirely new. Executive producers Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg have reimagined Rod Serling’s classic horror/science-fiction/fantasy series from the ‘60s for a whole new generation.
At an event in Hollywood this year, Kinberg revealed why it was the perfect time to bring back the show. “I think the world all of a sudden was in desperate need of ‘The Twilight Zone,’” he said. ‘If you said three, four years ago that like a reality star who had no political experience will be the leader of the free world with access to the nuclear button, you think that’s a crazy ‘Twilight Zone’ episode.”
Kinberg also said that the vision Peele and CBS All Access had meshed with how to tell stories while pushing it to the limits.

Despite all the fanfare surrounding his role in the CBS All Access show’s sophomore run, Star Trek: Discovery season 2 has yet to give us Ethan Peck’s on-screen debut as Spock. In episode 7, titled “Light and Shadows,” however, the search for Spock will continue as his adoptive sister Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) returns to Vulcan to meet with her parents, Sarek (James Frain) and Amanda Grayson (Mia Kirshner).
Sarek and Amanda have been recurring presences throughout the past two seasons, with the Vulcan ambassador and his human wife last appearing in season 2 episode 1 and episode 3, respectively. We don’t know if the visit home helps Burnham get any closer to finding her brother, but it sounds like she’ll uncover some other revelations in the process.
