Filmed three consecutive films directed by David Cronenberg: A Dangerous Method (2011), Cosmopolis (2012) and Maps to the Stars (2014). In between films, she also filmed Antiviral (2012), directed by David's son Brandon Cronenberg.

Sarah's paternal grandfather was of French-Canadian descent; the family surname was originally "Gaudon", and is of French origin. Sarah's paternal grandmother was born on Alderney, an island which is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, and had English and Irish ancestry. Sarah's mother's family is Italian, with roots in Abruzzo.

She was awarded the Birks Canadian Diamond, together with Emily Hampshire, by Telefilm Canada and Birks Diamonds to "recognize the accomplishments of up-and-coming Canadian talent who allow our country to be celebrated on the international stage".
