The SNL 50: Homecoming Concert at Radio City Music Hall Friday was one of the starriest and genre-bending concerts in recent history.
The concert, which took place ahead of the show’s big three-hour anniversary special Sunday, saw performances from Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Lady Gaga (who took took part in a musical sketch with Lonely Island and returned with a performance of “Shallow”), Nirvana, led by Post Malone, Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dog, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef, David Byrne, Arcade Fire and St. Vincent, Eddie Vedder, Devo, The White Stripes and more.
The artists who performed had a connection to SNL, as did the invite-only crowd, which was made up of those who had worked at the late night sketch show or had a connection to someone who had.
Jimmy Fallon hosted the night, kicking it off with an energetic performance honoring the Blues Brothers. But before he took the stage,...

Dave Chappelle won best comedy album at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, his third win in a row in the category and sixth win overall.
The Recording Academy presented the comedy album trophy during the premiere ceremony, which took place before the televised event later on Sunday. Chappelle was not present to accept the trophy.
Chappelle won for The Dreamer, his 2023 New Year’s Eve Netflix special. The new hour was Chappelle’s seventh for the streamer, and his first since the ultra-controversial 2021 special The Closer, which brought the comedian under fire for jokes about the transgender community.
In The Dreamer, Chappelle still targeted several different marginalized groups, including trans people and the disabled. “I love punching down!” he said at one point in the special.
Chappelle’s win beat Ricky Gervais’ Armageddon, Jim Gaffigan’s The Prisoner, Nikki Glaser’s Someday You’ll Die and Trevor Noah’s Where Was I.

Dave Chappelle has been nominated six times for Best Comedy Album at the Grammys and now has won six times, continuing his undefeated streak in the category with his Feb. 2 victory for The Dreamer. He now stands alone as the Grammys’ second-most-awarded comedian, breaking his tie with George Carlin and Richard Pryor and just one trophy shy of seven-time champ Bill Cosby. His previous five victories were for The Age of Spin and Deep in the Heart of Texas (2018), Equanimity and The Bird Revelation (2019), Sticks and Stones (2020), The Closer (2023), and What’s in a Name? (2024).
This year Chappelle defeated first-time nominees Ricky Gervais (Armageddon) and Nikki Glaser (Someday You’ll Die), three-time nominee and fifth-year Grammy host Trevor Noah (Where Was I?), and eight-time nominee Jim Gaffigan (The Prisoner). All four are awaiting their first Grammy.

Here’s that list of upcoming stand-up tours, separated into cost-based tiers. Fire up that PayPal and let’s go buy some laughs…
The Bargain Basement $50 Tier
If there’s a no-brainer show on this list, it’s the wicked Wanda Sykes with tickets starting at only $53. She’s much funnier and more accomplished than several of the comics on this list — and what a bargain!
The $60 Glut Tier
There are more comedians in the $60 to $70 range than any other group on this list, including Shane Gillis, Brett Goldstein, Brian Reagan, Nate Bargatze, Jo Koy, Tom Segura, Patton Oswalt and the red-pilled Whitney Cummings.

Some may not be aware there's a little something extra at the very end of the credits for 13 Going on 30. It's not an extra scene in the vein of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's signature stingers (some of which have included 13 Going on 30 star Mark Ruffalo), but audio of teenage girls gleefully singing along to "Love is a Battlefield," much like in an earlier scene in the movie. I only just noticed this while rewatching the movie and was delighted by all it represents.
13 Going on 30 is 2004 fantasy romantic comedy about a 13-year-old girl named Jenna Rink, who, in 1987, dreams of being popular and wishes she were "thirty and flirty and thriving." She later wakes up in 2004 at the age of 30. Jennifer Garner stars as 30-year-old Jenna, while Christa B. Allen plays the role of young Jenna. Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer, Jim Gaffigan, and Andy Serkis also star.

Up until taking on Gov. Tim Walz on Saturday Night Live, Jim Gaffigan tended to stay away from politics in his comedy.
But the Emmy-winning comedian doesn’t regret the times he spoke his mind, including a 2020 tweet in which he called Donald Trump “a liar and a criminal,” despite losing some Trump supporters as fans.
“I regret that people think that I was criticizing people that support Trump. And that was never the intention,” he explained on The Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh podcast. “I regret—someone said like, now I can’t follow you anymore and I kind of said ‘F you’ to them.
What are the 10 worst movies of 2024? There has been some debate about whether you should write an article listing the “10 Worst Films of 2024.” For me, I think it’s imperative to keep studios in check. Yes, it was an excellent year for film, and you can read our ranking of “The 20 Best Movies of 2024” as well, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t a few cinematic experiences so awful they made you regret your most precious resource: time.
Yes, some misfires had their hearts in the right place. However, most were intentionally bad and ploys to steal your money and your sanity. Check out our list and let us know if you agree.

Late Night with Seth Meyers is done ... for now. The late-night TV show behind "A Closer Look" has closed up shop for the year.
And what a year it was for Late Night with Seth Meyers. An election year is a long year for the entire country, and things were no different for Seth Meyers and his team.
So even if it weren't the holidays, we'd expect Meyers and everyone else at Late Night to take a break. The show wrapped up its 2024 last week and now looks to recharge.
NBC will air rerun episodes starting Monday, December 23, during Late Night's normal timeslot. The first one up is a repeat of the October 8 show featuring Nathan Lane, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Appearances by the Meyers family, Liam Neeson, Jenny Slate, Tim O'Brien, Jim Gaffigan, and Allison Tolman are also on the schedule this week. The network also plans...

Oh my, it looks like the animated critters have taken over the multiplex during this pre-holiday weekend. While Mufusa’s growls and roars are echoing through the hallways, another CGI-rendered creature is threatening to dash right off the screens. Now, they do have a few other things in common as they are both sequels, with this flick actually the third in a franchise. And it’s not based on a beloved thirty-year-old animated classic, but rather a still-adored video game dynasty (which predates The Lion King by three years). Oh, and this one includes “real live” actors alongside the “pixel pals”. So what new kicks (and spins and dashes) are in store after two previous outings in Sonic The Hedgehog 3?
Well for one thing we’re introduced to a new character (to the film series that started four years ago). At a Tokyo Island G.U.N (Guardian Units of Nations) prison,...

“Saturday Night Live’s” cold open took direct aim at the internet obsession about Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of the United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson with a sketch that featured Sarah Sherman as true crime maven Nancy Grace.
“Y’all psychos find him a sex symbol,” Sherman as Grace told the audience in diving into the shocking story of the brazen Dec. 4 slaying in Manhattan of Thompson walked to an investor conference. With over-the-top tabloid delivery Grace observed that Mangione “has women and gay guys hot and bothered,” describing him as “Dave Franco with Eugene Levy’s eyebrows.”
Kenan Thompson appeared later in the sketch as a man on the street who happened to encounter the killer. Interviewing him at the McDonald’s where the alleged killer was caught, Grace asked Thompson’s character “can you believe people were attracted to this sexy slayer?”
To which Thompson replied, “Women love bad boys.

An Almost Christmas Story features a small cast of voice actors, including Jim Gaffigan, Mamoudou Athie, Natasha Lyonne, and John C. Reilly. The short animated film received an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it features four songs, including two original songs, all performed by John C. Reilly. HBO has long been a home for some of the most-talked about comedy stand-up specials such as Eddie Murphy’s Delirious! and Chris Rock’s Bring The Pain as well as over a dozen from George Carlin.
However, over the last few years, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned network has faced streaming competitors with bulging wallets.
This is what made this morning’s news that HBO scored half of the nominations for a Golden Globe in the Best Performance In Stand-Up Comedy On Television category, going head-to-head with Netflix, which has the other three specials, significant.
HBO has Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die, Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking and Ramy Youssef: More Feelings competing against Netflix’s Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, Adam Sandler: Love You and Ali Wong: Single Lady.

Some partnerships are not built to last.
In 2019, Cindi Berger and Mark Owens merged Hollywood’s two largest publicity firms, Pmk*Bnc and Rogers & Cowan, forming a marketing colossus with Berger as chairman and Owens as CEO.

Comedians are unusual creatures in that they show affection through criticism, Jim Gaffigan said this week on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast. It’s the conceit behind roast comedy — we only hurt the ones we love.
There’s one comedian who’s “the most powerful roaster or roast comic that's ever existed, and this includes Don Rickles,” Gaffigan claimed. “More powerful than any who came before him. I think Martin Short is beyond a doubt the quickest, the meanest, and so funny.”
“Without a doubt,” O’Brien agreed.
Because he’s a nice person at heart, Gaffigan said, Short will use his Jiminy Glick character to get away with comic punches that Short himself might be hesitant to throw.

“He can hide in the fat suit,” continued O’Brien of Short’s fleshy suit of armor. “And he can say things like, ‘You know, your career never quite took off now,...

Netflixs Unfrosted takes some of its inspiration from a true story, but not all of it. The movie is directed, co-written by, and stars comedian Jerry Seinfeld, so its clearly a real passion project for him. It follows Seinfelds character, Bob Cabana, as he recounts a story about the origin of the breakfast food pop-tarts when he is picked as the team leader to develop a new food for Kellogg.
In addition to Seinfelds involvement in the movie, there is a whole host of talented comedy actors that appear as well, including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Max Greenfield, and Amy Schumer, so the audience could tell they were going to get a more comedic spin on a movie instead of something like a dryer biopic. That means that Unfrosted can be rooted in reality while still telling a funny and fictional tale.

It's Thanksgiving week, and that usually means time off, vacations, and in the world of late-night TV, a hiatus or two. But only one show will be off this week ... and it just so happens to be one of the big ones.
Fall is always a busy time of year for television. New shows premiere and the holiday blockbuster season starts. So that means late-night TV lineups are full of big-name stars looking to promote their latest projects. Throw in everything going on post-election, and late-night TV has a lot on its pre-Thanksgiving plate.
However, don't expect to feast on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert or The Daily Show this week. The CBS show plans to air repeat episodes all week long, beginning on Monday night. The same goes for Comedy Central's late-night show
It hasn't been confirmed when Stephen Colbert will be back in the Ed Sullivan Theater with new episodes.

It’s no secret that Saturday Night Live has been assigning some of its most high-profile political roles to celebrity friends of the show, as opposed to its current bench of talent. In the run-up to the election, SNL brought in former cast members Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey and Andy Samberg to play Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and Doug Emhoff, respectively. Also, Jim Gaffigan was hired as Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz — a pretty good fit, considering that Walz actually did talk about Hot Pockets while on the campaign trail.

But now that the election is over, not every guest star has stopped hanging around Studio 8H on Saturday nights. Dana Carvey has continued making regular appearances on SNL, not just as Biden, but as Elon Musk. And he will continue to do so until at least December.

While sharing an anecdote about recent host John Mulaney, the SNL alum revealed he’s returning to the NBC sketch comedy show next month amid his guest appearances as Joe Biden and Musk.
“When you leave the good nights at SNL, sometimes you do it with the host. You go under the bleachers and you come out. So I think it was John Mulaney. He just went right before me, and I think he was going, and then he started skipping,” he recalled on his Superfly podcast. “And I started skipping too, and skipping feels really good compared to walking or even running. It’s kinda gentle.”
Carvey continued, “So now, if you ever see me on SNL — I’m going back in December — you see me come off the stage,...

It’s a little shocking when Jim Gaffigan walks out on stage for his new Hularious stand-up special, The Skinny. The reason: Gaffigan is, well, skinny. Shockingly so, like down-50-pounds skinny. And the secret behind his weight loss isn’t what you’re thinking, which he says right at the top: He’s not on Ozempic. “I’m on a different one,” he clarifies. “I’m on Mounjaro, which is better because it sounds like an Italian restaurant.”
Gaffigan spends the first 10 minutes of The Skinny getting real about his weight loss, including the knowledge that it might be temporary. While his doctor recommended the appetite suppressant to prevent future health problems, Gaffigan is keeping his “fat clothes” for the inevitable slide.
He’s also aware of the drawbacks of such medications, replacing self-discipline, exercise and healthy eating with “a weekly shot that killed all the passion inside of me.

While he began his career telling jokes about frozen garbage pastries, Jim Gaffigan has since become a solid dramatic actor. Recently, he starred in the surreal indie dramedy Linoleum, and before that, he appeared in not one, not two, but three different Law & Order series, for five episodes total.
The TV procedural empire has frequently given comedians opportunities to take on more series roles, including Kathy Griffin, Martin Short and Gilbert Gottfried, who popped up in two episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, playing an NYPD technical wiz opposite fellow guest star Adam Driver.
Gaffigan guest starred in two episodes of the original Law & Order, one episode of Law & Order: Svu and two episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. And he played different characters in each one, thus destroying the believability of the Law & Order-verse.
