It will be worth it. That’s what the first two seasons of Good Omens have taught us as we await the third to return. The Prime Video series, based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett and now expanding on that story, began by following the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) over the leading up to their attempt to stop Armageddon after the birth of the antichrist. The second season moved beyond the book and saw Aziraphale and Crowley hiding the amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell before it ended in heartbreak. We know it will be some time before we find out what happens next, so below, we’re gathering everything we know about the future of Good Omens, including teases we got from Gaiman. Where Did Good Omens Season 2 Leave Crowley & Aziraphale?...

Life in post-strike Hollywood was definitely a topic of conversation at Sunday’s Writers Guild Awards, with former WGA West president David Goodman saying “the strike is over, the fight goes on” while adding “as individuals we’re replaceable.”
That sentiment has never been more applicable than now, as the ongoing contraction in Hollywood continues to impact how many writers remain out of work since walking off the picket line in September.
In March, Deadline kicked off a Hollywood Contraction series by checking in with the above and below-the-line communities to see whether opportunities have picked up since the end of the strikes.
The response hasn’t been positive. Because of fewer shows in the works and the disappearance of pilot season, the availability of gigs are now few and far between — with many considering a life outside of Hollywood.

In Season of Mists, the fourth volume of The Sandmancomics series, Neil Gaiman penned a ghost story set in a British boarding school to demonstrate the problems being caused by Lucifer’s plan to get back at Dream. Gaiman liked the characters enough that he brought them back for a Vertigo Comics crossover event, and they wound up receiving their own spin-off comic from Toby Litt and Mark Buckingham.
Now, the Dead Boy Detectives are receiving their own TV series from Steve Yockey and Beth Schwartz. Set in the same universe as The Sandman, this show follows all the zany thrills and heartwarming moments of Charles and Edwin’s adventures solving supernatural mysteries that no one else can.
“Charles was more or less me as a boy,” executive producer and Sandman author Gaiman tells Tudum. “I loved writing him and Edwin, and was proud to send them out into the world.

Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” Netflix has set an April 25th premiere date for the show, and with that date just a few weeks away, a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above to see the titular characters deal with paranormal cases while My Chemical Romance plays on the soundtrack.
Since these characters were introduced in the comic book The Sandman, it seems fitting that they ended up on Netflix, as the streamer is also home to the live-action The Sandman series.

Ah, April. Spring isn’t just in the air, it’s on our television sets. Baseballs are zipping through the air. Flowers are blooming in the park. Desperate TV networks are capitalizing off national holidays with religious programming. It’s all happening, and Netflix is playing along. Not only did the streaming giant get an early jump on the Emmy race by launching the confusing awful ambitious “3 Body Problem” in March (giving voters enough time to wade through its arduous episodes), but April has its own awards contender in “Ripley.”
I would be surprised if any other April original series draw the TV Academy’s attention, but we should never write off a series executive produced by Norman Lear (“Good Times” gets the animated reboot treatment this month), nor can a nature documentary series from Netflix be considered out of the running. Greg Berlanti isn’t known for producing...

A car crash interview with a delusional prince, a new series adaptation featuring Patricia Highsmith’s most infamous creation, the second part of Zack Snyder’s pricey space opera and a paranormal detective show set within Neil Gaiman’s celebrated Sandman universe are among the big titles hitting Netflix in April.
Debuting April 4 is Ripley, Netflix’s glossy new take on Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. Fresh from the critical acclaim he received for All of Us Strangers, Irish actor Andrew Scott will be inhabiting the role of Tom Ripley in an adaptation that will be screened in black-and-white. It wasn’t until I started writing this article that I remembered something. A new Hellboy movie, titled Hellboy: The Crooked Man, is coming soon, likely to see release sometime this year.
Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights last year to Millennium Media’s reboot, which will star Jack Kesy in the title role. But we’ll report more on that project in the coming months.
In the meantime, Deadline has announced today that a documentary on Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, titled Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters, is also coming soon.
Deadline reports that Nacelle (“The Toys That Made Us”) has acquired the doc, with no release date announced at this time. The documentary “tells the story of Mignola — one of the most successful independent comic book creators, who has inspired generations of writers and artists — and how he came to create a world-renowned comic book universe.

Legendary writer Neil Gaiman knows a thing or two about Norse mythology. His book "American Gods" (which was turned into a TV show that went through a lot of problems) features characters like Odin and Loki. Gaiman also wrote an enjoyable book called "Norse Mythology," described on the book jacket as "a bravura rendition of the great northern tales." Gaiman has also created some of the most renowned comics of all time, most notably his "The Sandman" series. With all that in mind, it seems like Gaiman would be perfect to write a story about the Marvel character Thor. And as it turns out, that almost happened.
In a new Tumblr post, Gaiman revealed that a few years ago he was asked to write an animated series about Thor for Marvel. Gaiman took the gig seriously and dove into research. But the project fizzled when he butted heads with what Marvel had in mind.

‘Dead Boy Detectives’ is an upcoming supernatural detective comedy-drama TV series developed by Steve Yockey, based on DC Comics characters by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner. The show follows Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who opt to stay on Earth investigating supernatural crimes instead of entering the afterlife.
Initially announced in 2021 as a spinoff of ‘Doom Patrol’ on HBO, the series switched to Netflix in February 2023. The decision was reportedly due to conflicts with the vision for HBO Max’s DC Universe by DC Studios’ co-CEOs and marketing constraints. Neil Gaiman confirmed on April 20, 2023, that the series would share a universe with ‘The Sandman.’
After much anticipation, the show finally has a release date set for April 25, 2024, which is just over a month away. It’s close enough to start feeling excited! You can also view the latest official photos of the show.

Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” Today, Variety was able to confirm that Netflix has set an April 25th premiere date for the show.
Since these characters were introduced in the comic book The Sandman, it seems fitting that they ended up on Netflix, as the streamer is also home to the live-action The Sandman series.
George Rexstrew, making his screen debut, and Jayden Revri of The Lodge play the title characters in Dead Boy Detectives. The third lead of the show will be Kassius Nelson of Last Night in Soho. The eight...

Back when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was still in development, Neil Gaiman was brought on board to develop an animated Thor series which would have led into the first movie.
The writer revealed this on Tumblr when a fan asked him if he’d like to work on Thor if Marvel asked.
“Long ago — around 2006 — I was asked to create a Thor animated cartoon, and I got all excited, and the brief was it had to be set before the Thor movie,” Gaiman said. “I did a deep Thor dive, reread everything Jack Kirby drew, came up with a whole story shape that ran a few seasons showing young Loki going from hero-worshipping his big brother to Going to the Bad, and then they told me I wasn’t actually allowed to have any of the characters at any point be different in any way from how they were in the Thor movie,...

After spending decades in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic book series The Sandman actually made it into production and was released into the world as a Netflix series in August of 2022. (Read our review Here.) Season 2 of the show went into production last year, then had to be put on pause for a while due to the writers and actors strikes. Thankfully, The Sandman season 2 was able to resume production as soon as those strikes came to an end – and now, during an interview with Collider, cast member Kirby Howell-Baptiste has confirmed that the new episodes will bring more Death to the screen. Death being the character she plays on the show.
Of course, it wouldn’t be difficult for the new season to feature “more Death,” since Death was only in one episode of the first season. But Howell-Baptiste said that in addition to being present in more episodes,...

How do you capture Jenne Casarotto? She was at the intersection of theatre, film and television. It all, seemingly, swirled around her.
Not just around her.
It was the brilliant team that she assembled at Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, the agency that’s been at the epicenter of UK arts culture for over three decades. Correction: The company’s reach extended far beyond the environs of London’s Soho.
One would see her in Venice, Cannes, Toronto and Sydney. One would not be at all surprised to be at a screening at, let’s say, Sundance, and there’d be a tap on the shoulder when the lights came up. “That was great stuff, wasn’t it?” She’d say gleefully.
It was a bit of a test because she’d expect you to be honest with her. Well, it was godawful, actually, and she’d nod sagely, her eyes twinkling behind her specs.

While the Marvel Universe continues to chug along and James Gunn attempts to resuscitate the DC universe into something worth watching, we will yet again go back to the world of graphic novels for our inspiration on book vs movie. It’s really a very untapped realm as there are so many good horror comics out there, many without adaptations yet. The ones that have been adapted are very fun and interesting. Today is the mostly forgotten early 2000s movie From Hell (watch it Here), which is based on the stunning and epic graphic novel from famed wizard and all-around cranky dude Alan Moore. Like many graphic novels, the journey to page and then screen was a long and arduous one. It is based on the very real killings in Whitechapel that were later attributed to Jack the Ripper. While both have a lot of truths to them along with...

“I don’t know, and if I did… I might not be allowed to tell you,” he admitted. “I truly don’t know, Marvel are correctly protective of their information.”
So while Hiddleston neither confirmed nor denied his involvement, his cryptic response keeps the door open.

Scottish star David Tennant has an impressive repertoire of acting projects that puts him among some of the most versatile actors of his generation. Prominently known for his character in the popular BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, Tennant’s manic turn as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was also a massive fan favorite.

Neil Gaiman, the creator of Good Omens, once detailed on Tumblr that his entry through the pearly gates into Heaven may depend on one thing: the fact that he was the first to put David Tennant and Michael Sheen together.
You may wonder what could’ve prompted the renowned author to reach such a conclusion. Interestingly enough, the on-screen pair’s shared presentation at the BAFTA TV Awards 2020, when they announced the winner of the Best Mini-Series, was what caused it.
The bit, though brief, reflected the two stars’ shared chemistry. While their affiliation has left an indelible mark on the pop-culture tapestry, it is relatively new, dating back to 2019 with Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens Season 1.

Following that came their pandemic sitcom, Staged—the series that became the backbone of the award-show segment that induced Gaiman’s response.

Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel Anansi Boys is heading to the sequential art world of comics.
The 2005 novel, a New York Times best-seller that won the Locus and British Fantasy Awards, is being adapted by Dark Horse Comics, which has set screenwriter and comics author Marc Bernardin to pen what will be an eight-issue miniseries.
Shawn Martinbrough, perhaps best known as the longtime artist of the Robert Kirkman title Thief of Thieves as well as Marvel’s Luke Cage Noir, is drawing the book, which will have colors by Chris Sotomayor and letters by Jim Campbell. The first issue is due to hit stores June 26.
The novel told the travails of “Fat” Charlie Nancy, who leads a boring life as a boring Londoner until he discovers two things: that his recently deceased father was, in fact, Anansi, the trickster god of African folklore, and that he has a twin brother he’s never met.
