Artist, Shannon Tindle, most recently worked on DreamWorks Animation's The Croods and Rise of the Guardians. But, it's her few pieces of artwork from a scrapped project involving Bruce Timm that caught my interest. Bruce, recently stepped down as the Supervising Producer of Warner Bros. Animation, but don't fret cause Gary Miereanu explained that Bruce would "be back - in a very big way." One possibility, that we posted back in late March (click here) was that Timm was creating a Justice League cartoon series. Now, I've come across Tindle's post from April 12th titled, "70's Justice League": "Last year I got a call from Warner Bros. asking if I'd be interested in working with Bruce Timm on a Justice League video. I think I was in the car before I finished the call. I met with Bruce who told me he was looking to do a graphic interpretation...

This is the review of Buried on Pure Movies (directed by Rodrigo Cortés and starring Ryan Reynolds, José Luis García Pérez, Robert Paterson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Ivana Miño, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino and Kali Rocha. For most people, being buried alive is one of the most terrifying situations imaginable This is just what happens to Us truck driver Paul Conroy (Reynolds), buried in a box six feet under the Iraqi desert, with nothing but a trusty lighter and an unreliable mobile phone. After remembering that his convoy was attacked by Iraqi terrorists, he realises he must somehow orchestrate his own rescue.

Chicago – Many films have attempted to portray the unimaginably terrifying experience of being buried alive, from George Sluizer’s bone-chillingly bleak thriller, “The Vanishing,” to Quentin Tarantino’s crowd-pleaser, “Kill Bill Vol. 2.” Yet Rodrigo Cortés’ “Buried” is the first film in cinema history to take place entirely within the rectangular confines of a coffin.
Claustrophobic thrillers such as “Phone Booth” and “127 Hours” utilized cutaways to flashbacks, fantasies and supporting players to break up the monotony of the protagonist’s immobility. But Cortés has the audacity to make his audience feel as trapped as his main character. He refused to compromise his vision in order to make the film more marketable to the mainstream, and the resulting picture is a staggering feat of filmmaking ingenuity and artistic conviction. It’s also a hell of a good thriller.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
No Strings Attached – Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline
The Way Back – Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell (limited)
Movie of the Week
The Way Back
The Stars: Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell
The Plot: A group of gulag escapees journey 4,000 miles to their freedom.
The Buzz: This is Director Peter Weir’s latest — that’s enough buzz right there.
In watching the film’s trailer, one gets the feeling that The Way Back is more of an adventure tale than it is a tale about the gulag. But we’re not talking carefree adventure here; this looks to be a story predominantly about survival, and survival in the most brutal of conditions. Knowing the film is based on a true story, combined with the way in which it has been marketed, allows for one to somewhat safely assume a happy ending (otherwise it...

Buried
Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo
Directed By: Rodrigo Cortés
Written By: Chris Sparling
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Samantha Mathis, José Luis García Pérez, Robert Paterson, Stephen Tobolowsky
Lionsgate Home Entertainment
Release Date: January 18, 2011
What would you do if you awoke to total blackness, barely able to move or breathe, and completely unaware of your location? What would you do if you soon realized that you're not only unaware of your location, but that you're actually in a wooden coffin, buried within the earth, set to ponder your horrific fate until the moment the last bit of life drifts away from your tormented body?
If you're anything like me, you'd likely slip into an uncontrollable panic wishing only that death would come as quickly as humanly possible. But for Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds), who finds himself in this very position in director Rodrigo Cortés's new thriller, Buried, giving up is not an option.

Does claustrophobia set in easily for you? Then you may want to steer clear of the video aisles of your favorite stores as last year's intense buried alive flick (starring the future Green Lantern) is coming on home.
Being that this is another light week release wise, you don't have too many other options. That is unless you're in the mood for high speed chases featuring coffin-looking vehicles that could end up causing just as much anxiety.
Or maybe you'd just like to find comfort in another Roger Corman fest from a kinder, gentler era - a triple treat that has nothing to do with coffins. Yay!

Here's an HD TV spot for "Buried", directed by Rodrigo Cortes and starring Ryan Reynolds, Robert Paterson, José Luis García Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis and Warner Loughlin. In the film, Reynolds plays Paul Conroy, who wakes up 6 feet underground with no idea of who put him there or why. Buried with only a cell phone and a lighter, his contact with the outside world and ability to piece together clues that could help him discover his location are maddeningly limited. Poor reception, a rapidly draining battery, and a dwindling oxygen supply become his worst enemies in a tightly confined race against time - fighting panic, despair and delirium, Paul has only 90 minutes to be rescued before his worst nightmare comes true. Lionsgate has been keeping their cards close to their chest in regards to their forthcoming thriller Buried, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq awakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. Ryan Reynolds, Robert Paterson, José Luis García-Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino all star. With most of the film supposedly taking place within a coffin, it's hard to really share new footage with audiences. If you click over to Empire you'll find a new clip that gets even more claustrophobic.

As I’ve said before, I’ve been loving all the marketing for Ryan Reynold’s new movie, Buried. Latino Review have put up a new international trailer (not sure where it originated) for the directed by Rodrigo Cortés movie which also stars Robert Paterson, José Luis García Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky and Samantha Mathis.
It’s scheduled for released in the UK October 1st.
We’re off to a screening of it this evening and are really rather excited about it!

As you (should) already know, the majority of Lionsgate's Buried takes place inside a coffin. Ryan Reynolds plays a U.S. contractor working in Iraq who awakens to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. With the plot keeping the audience nice and confined, there are only so many images that can be released -- inside you'll find another dozen of looks at Reynolds six feet under. Buried arrives in theaters September 24. Directed by Rodrigo Cortes, Robert Paterson, José Luis García-Pérez, Stephen Tobolowsky, Samantha Mathis, Warner Loughlin, Erik Palladino all star.

The official Buried website have released this awesome new motion poster for Buried, the movie starring Ryan Reynolds who, from what we’ve seen, spends most of his time stuck in a coffin underground in the dark! I’ve embedded the poster below for your viewing pleasure.
This new motion poster goes nicely with the one we posted a while back but this time we get to see Reynolds trying to fire up his lighter to find out where he is. So far i’m loving the marketing campaign (teaser trailer here) for the movie, I just hope it’s good and isn’t just a copy of the Quentin Tarantino directed CSI from a few years back which has a similar subject matter.
