Dominik Garcia-Lorido may not be a household name, but she’s had a solid career nonetheless. She made her first on-screen appearance in 1995, and although that was her only acting job in the 1990s, she started to work most consistently in the early 2000s. Some of her roles have been on the smaller side, but she’s also made some significant appearances. She is probably best known for playing Mercedes Lazaro in the TV series Magic City and Mercedes Fellove in the movie The Lost City. Dominik doesn’t appear to have any projects in the works at the moment, but it

There are plenty of fairy tales told about small town girls who cross paths with a famous actor or rock star and fall in love and the two live happily ever after. This is not one of those stories. Desolation is a nightmare, about a girl falling for a movie star and relocating with him to a very haunted Hollywood, and Et has the first trailer.
Katie (Dominik García-Lorido) ignores all the red flags when actor Jay Cutter (Pitch Perfect's Brock Kelly) boasts about the high-profile homicides that happened in his building and soon finds herself seeing dead people, ghostly children and, naturally, a seriously sinister priest. "Are you sick?" he asks. "Have you been having any nightmares? Have you been diagnosed with mental illness? Hallucinations? Loss of appetite? Voices? Paranoia?"

Jason Statham is one of the most magnetic action stars of his generation, although you wouldn’t know it from the middling to mediocre line-up of moderate-budgeted releases he has headlined over the last decade. The actor’s steely cool and casual intensity is often the best part of fleeting, forgettable genre films. However, if given a meatier character or some prime dialogue to chew on, Statham shows a drive, confidence and vulnerability that his other vehicles only hint at.
It turns out that Statham needed a refreshingly low-key slice of old-school noir from veteran screenwriter William Goldman, of All the President’s Men and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid fame. Wild Card is certainly not a classic near the pantheon of those films, but it is above average for a high voltage flick with Statham’s name above the marquee. Goldman adapted the lurid thriller from his novel,...

Given the cult status of The Mechanic, it’s no wonder that it has only taken four years for director Simon West to reunite with his no-nonsense star Jason Statham for another bout of high-octane action. Only this time around, the filmmaker is shifting the action to Sin City for Wild Card, which will see the Stath step into the shoes of an ex-marine with an uncontrollable penchant for gambling.
With a script from William Goldman — creative mind behind Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid and The Princess Bride – there’s certainly an air of promise with the pair’s latest outing. Centering around Nick Wild (Statham), Wild Card will see our protagonist get in deep with the sharks when he steps up to protect a friend, only to find that he has gotten on the wrong side of some of the most ruthless mob bosses in town.

Hey, your bi-annual (or so) dose of Jason Statham is just around the corner! We just saw the actor in "The Expendables 3" a few months ago, and next summer he'll be back for a double whammy of "Furious 7" and "Spy." But beforehand, he's hitting the tables in "Wild Card," and the U.S. version of the trailer has dropped today. Based on a book by that name, a remake of a 1986 Burt Reynolds movie no one remembers, directed by Simon West (forever chasing career high "Con Air"), and featuring a pretty eclectic cast including Michael Angarano (killing it on "The Knick"), Milo Ventimiglia, Dominik García-Lorido, Anne Heche, Sofia Vergara, Jason Alexander (Costanza!), Hope Davis and Stanley Tucci (the latter two deserving so much better), the movie is your basic Statham-cracks-skulls action thingy. Here's the official synopsis: Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional.

Following the first photo last week, the U.S. trailer is now out for the Jason Statham action thriller "Wild Card". Helmed by Simon West and penned by the legendary William Goldman, this one seems quirkier and more stylised than the typical "Statham movie".
Statham plays a Las Vegas bodyguard who helps a friend get revenge on a sadistic thug. Trouble is, said thug is the son of a powerful mob boss and the bodyguard soon finds himself on the run from the mob. Michael Angarano, Milo Ventimiglia, Anne Heche, Sofia Vergara, Jason Alexander, Hope Davis, Stanley Tucci and Dominik García-Lorido also star.

While fans of Magic City are understandably upset by the show's cancellation, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht recently explained that the decision wasn't a difficult one when it came to finances.
At the TCA press tour, he said, "It was a fine show but it was extremely expensive. It had decent audience but distributors weren’t interested in co-marketing it with us, and we felt season two had a pretty reasonable and satisfying landing spot."
Magic City revolves around the world of Miami's Miramar Playa Hotel in 1959. The TV series stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, and Danny Huston, with Steven Strait, Christian Cooke, Jessica Marais, Yul Vazquez, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Kelly Lynch, and Elena Satine.

Goldman wrote the novel on which the '86 original was based, as well as that movie's screenplay; it's not clear how different the remake will be. (To clarify this film has nothing to do with the 1995 movie "Heat" starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.) Statham's snagged the lead role of Nick Escalante, a character made famous by Burt Reynolds in the original. Escalante has a gambling problem that he supports by working as a bodyguard for his buddies around Vegas. Things get very personal for him after his ex-girlfriend Holly (Dominik Garcia-Lorido) has a rather nasty run-in with a businessman named Danny DeMarco. Milo Ventimiglia...

Stanley Tucci and Anne Heche have been cast in Heat.
Jason Statham's action-thriller remake has also added Cedric the Entertainer, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia to its lineup, reports Deadline.
Based on William Goldman's novel, it was previously adapted in 1986 with Burt Reynolds in the lead role.
It centres around Statham as a gambling addict mercenary working for hire in Las Vegas.
Goldman - best known as the screenwriter for The Princess Bride - is working on the Heat script for Expendables 2 director Simon West.
The film will also feature Sophia Vergara, Michael Angarano, and Dominik Garcia-Lorido.

Actor Andy Garcia recently stepped out with a statuesque beauty on his arm -- none other than his daughter, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, pictured above with Garcia at the premiere of "A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III" in Hollywood on Feb. 4.
Dominik, 29, is the eldest of Garcia's four children with wife María Victoria Lorido, whom Garcia married in 1982. They also have kids Daniella, 25, Alessandra, 21 and Andres, 11.
But their oldest daughter Dominik is starting to make a name for herself in the entertainment world, starring on Starz's series "Magic City." Dominik plays Mercedes Lazaro, a Cuban-American housekeeper in training to be a stewardess and love interest to Christian Cooke's character Danny.
Dominik definitely learned from the best growing up, telling the Huffington Post, "I love acting. I would really love to produce my own stuff and other stuff. My dad always produces and I would always sit in producers' meetings with him.

Chicago – The new Starz drama “Magic City” is a beautiful show to look at it with its “Mad Men”-esque degree of period detail and half-naked people looking smooth, suave, and sexy. It’s visual eye candy that tasty enough aesthetically that it may lead some people to believe that it’s a more accomplished piece of work than it actually is. For while there are pretty things to look at it in this “Magic City,” the population just isn’t interesting enough to warrant the trip.

Miami was apparently red hot in the late 1950s and not just because of the unrelenting Florida sun. In the news Starz series "Magic City," Jeffrey Dean Morgan leads a show that puts the luxurious fictional Miramar Playa Hotel at the center of the action.
On Wednesday (Feb. 22), Starz released the first official cast picture and "muy caliente" is an understatement. In the photo (above), Morgan and co-stars Kelly Lynch, Steven Strait, Christian Cooke, Taylor Blackwell, Elena Satine, Jessica Marais, Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Yul Vasquez, and Danny Huston give the reigning retro hotties (the cast of "Mad Men") a run for their money.
"Magic City" -- with its swank surroundings, cute clothes and mob boss storyline sounds like it could at worst be some kind of "Pan Am"/"Boardwalk Empire" mashup. At best, though, it could be a really great show.
We're hoping for the latter, of course.

Chicago – There are many reasons why “City Island” shouldn’t work. It’s entirely contrived, from one end of the script to the other. Every gargantuan misunderstanding in the film has been spawned by festering lies, the kind that sitcoms have thrived on since the beginning of television. Yet what works in a 23-minute TV sketch often becomes tedious and exasperating when stretched to feature length.
This quirky indie comedy from writer/director Raymond De Felitta (“The Thing About My Folks”) aims to be the “Love Actually” of sitcom contrivance, balancing various misconceptions and outrageous twists until they erupt in a shrill expulsion of cathartic revelations. Like so many quirky indies, the film centers on a dysfunctional family, The Rizzos, where each member is secretly living a double life, mirroring the dichotomy of their town’s name, City Island, a small fishing community defined by De Felitta as the Hamptons of the Bronx.

As independent films go in 2010, a movie called City Island sits at number four on the year's biggest true indies, behind The Kids Are All Right but lumped in with the box-office totals of Cyrus, and Babies. The difference between City Island and the others, however, is that City Island hasn't had the benefit of any marketing. I'm sure they exist, but I've never seen a movie poster, never seen a trailer, and I've never seen an Internet or television ad (at least, until this week, when I saw an Internet ad for its DVD release). I'd never even heard of the film until it began appearing in my local movie listings last month. The fact that it managed to make $6 million plus, and stay in theaters for 23 weeks is a testament, I can only guess, to the real power of word of mouth. It sure as hell didn't get by on its movie title.

This week on DVD and Blu-ray I get to re-watch one of the best TV shows of the last decade, see below:
Grab ‘Em Right Away
Lost – The Complete Series Blu-ray
Created by: J. J. Abrams
Starring: Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, Jorge Garcia, Josh Hollaway, Daniel Day Kim, Yunjin Kim, Evangeline Lilly, Terry O’Quinn, Emile De Ravin, Michael Emerson, Dominic Monaghan & Henry Ian Cusick
Why should you buy this? Because (as I said above) it is one of the greatest TV shows of the past decade. It definitely doesn’t surpass my love for The Wire, but it hits a science-fiction/storytelling high that many one-hour dramas would love to reach. Not only does the show take it’s situation seriously, but it takes the treatment of its characters with such truth that you never feel taken advantage of. Even though I do have a few problems with some...

Vince Rizzo (Andy Garcia) is a corrections officer with secrets. The first one is that his lifelong dream is to become an actor. This ambition embarrasses him so much so that he lies to Joyce (Juliana Margulies), his wife, about taking an acting class in the evenings. On these nights he says he has a poker game. In Vince’s world gambling is more appropriate than acting. He has a normal life. He still lives in the house he grew up in on City Island, a small island off of the Bronx, with Joyce and their son, Vince Jr. (Ezra Miller), and has a daughter, Vivian (Dominik Garcia-Lorido, Garcia’s real-life daughter), in college in the city. Frivolous dreams, like acting, have no place in his life. His second secret, his deepest, darkest secret, is that he has a clandestine son from a previous relationship. This fact is so hidden,...
