The Rookie started Season 7 down one regular cop, so what happened to him? Was the exit on or off screen?
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 premiere
For those who forgot, Season 6 of The Rookie ended with the cops exposing how corrupt lawyer Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan) had used shrink Dr. Blair London (Danielle Campbell) to get information on cops she could sell to criminals. That exposed scores of detectives to blackmail that hampered investigations.
Nolan worked with the FBI to track Monica down with a big firefight that had him shot in the hindquarters while Monica escaped. However, in the middle of the chaos, recurring criminal “frenemy” Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) escaped prison alongside Jason (Steve Kazee), the abusive drug-dealing ex-husband of Nolan’s wife, Bailey.
As Season 7 opened, the crew tried to track Jason and Oscar, but a drug house bust couldn’t turn them up.

The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley has teased just how much of a threat Jason (Steve Kazee) poses to Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (Jenna DeWan) in season 7 of the police procedural. The Rookie season 6 finale ended on a shocking cliffhanger, with Monica (Bridget Regan) breaking both Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Jason out of prison. The latter is Bailey's ex-husband, whose rage toward her means he's likely going to target her now that he's free. However, there's been no confirmation yet about when he's going to show up, and how his presence will impact Nolan and his new wife.
Speaking with TVLine, Hawley revealed how on-edge Nolan will be during the start of The Rookie season 7, which takes place just a few weeks after the end of season 6. The showrunner teased the protagonist will get blindsided by bad information about where Jason is, while he continues to prioritize Bailey's protection. He...

The good news is that The Rookie Season 7 is moving forward full steam, with new episodes airing with little to no breaks until the finale in May.
As Monsters and Critics reported, the new season will bring more bad guys for the Mid-Wilshire team to take down.
The premiere episodes prove that fact more than ever, with two of the show’s most evil villains on the loose.
Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) ex-husband Jason (Steve Kazee) escaped prison and are roaming the streets of Los Angeles.

The Rookie season 7 trailer reveals a first look at the cast's action-packed return, with Nathan Fillion's John Nolan taking center stage once again. The Rookie season 6 finale featured a major cliffhanger, with Monica (Bridget Regan) letting both Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Bailey's (Jenna Dewan) ex-husband, Jason (Steve Kazee), out of prison. This sets the stage for more drama and danger in the upcoming episodes, albeit with some time for the group to prepare for the arrival of familiar threats. Even so, it appears season 7 will be dealing with the dangerous aftermath of what transpired.
Now, ABC (via TV Promos) has released the first trailer for The Rookie season 7, which sees Nolan and other cops on the LAPD return for another action-packed batch of episodes. The group, featuring Tim Bradford (Eric Winter), Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox), and Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) among other cops preparing to raid a...

The Rookie season 7 showrunner Alexi Hawley confirms there will be two holiday episodes in the forthcoming season when new episodes start airing. The Rookie season 7 didn't come back during its usual Fall time slot on ABC, with the full season instead pushed back to 2025 to accommodate for new shows airing on the network. However, this also means the show can experiment with how it presents its new episodes, potentially in acknowledgment of the new stretch of time during which it's going to air.
Now, Hawley has confirmed on BlueSky that The Rookie season 7 will include "a Valentines Day and an April Fools episode," the two holiday specials now officially in the lineup. It appears the creators will be taking full advantage of its late start, promising fun episodes that will be thematic for the upcoming storyline. This also indicates plenty of surprises could happen during these particular episodes, though it's...

We finally know when The Rookie Season 7 is going to premiere! The ABC drama ended its sixth season back in May, but when it aired, we knew that we’d have to wait until 2025 for it to return. The good news? Season 7 should air uninterrupted as a result. Below, we’re taking a look at everything we know about The Rookie Season 7, from its cast to the premiere date and more. Where did The Rookie’s Season 6 finale leave off? By the end of the final, there are three major threats free: Monica (Bridget Regan), Oscar (Matthew Glave), and Jason (Steve Kazee), and it’s that last one, Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) ex-husband, who’s the one we should be most concerned about, executive producer Alexi Hawley told TV Insider. “I think Jason’s probably the most immediate problem,” he said. “I think obviously Jason is the one with the most specific,...

Charles Melton didnt start acting professionally until 2014, opting to drop out of college and move to Los Angeles to pursue a whole new career path. The former high school athlete had been interested in acting but focused on other aspects of his life. He even took a brief detour into modeling before acting, which did land him work as a model in an episode of Glee.
Since then, Melton hasnt slowed down one bit. His longest-running role has been playing Reggie Mantle on Riverdale for six seasons, but his acting roles in both TV and movies move beyond teen dramas as well. Hes proven himself an incredibly versatile performer and even earned award show buzz in 2023 after his star-making turn in the movie May December.

Romcoms benefit from unexpected casting choices, adding a fresh twist to the genre and attracting new audiences. Actors like Adam Sandler, Kristen Stewart, and Emilia Clarke have all successfully challenged their usual roles in romcoms. A good performance in a romcom can change the way audiences see an actor.
Romcoms tend to go for the same kinds of actors, so it's refreshing to see a new face in the genre, especially one which fans would never have expected. This could either be when a dramatic actor tries out their comedy skills, or when a different type of comedian fancies themselves as a romantic lead. The humor of romcoms is a peculiar genre, so cynical or overly crude comedians don't often fit in.
Because of all the tropes which define the genre, it's a pleasant surprise to see romcoms which shake things up. One of the easiest ways to do this...

The Rookie season 7 introduces new characters like Miles and Seth to refresh the series and focus on episodic storytelling. Miles is a seasoned Texas transfer while Seth struggles under pressure, bringing new dynamics to The Rookie team. The addition of new characters in season 7 promises a return to more episodic storytelling and a shift away from serialized plots.
The Rookie season 7 is primed to introduce several new characters, which is a good sign for the upcoming outing's big story promise. ABC's police procedural follows the career of 40-something cop John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) the oldest rookie at the LA Police Department (LAPD). Since 2018, the series has churned out six uneven seasons, but The Rookie season 7 promises to be a return to form, especially where the show's episodic storytelling is concerned. Despite attempts at a twist, The Rookie's season 6 ending was somewhat predictable, which means the upcoming installment must make some big changes.

You should be very afraid of what Monica (Bridget Regan) and Oscar (Matthew Glave) teaming up means for The Rookie heading into the May 21 finale. At the end of the penultimate episode, Monica made a deal with Oscar to get what she wants (information on the man who wants her dead) and agreed to help him escape from prison. “Monica and Oscar are often the smartest people in the room, which is the best thing in a villain. You want them to be scary because yes, they might be psychopaths, but at the same time they’re also super clever,” executive producer Alexi Hawley tells TV Insider. “I think that makes them really dangerous and they also, as actors really walk this great line of living in the villainy, but in a way that doesn’t feel broad or heightened. They play very grounded versions of these characters in a...

Back in 1998, Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler charmed the world with their film "The Wedding Singer." Set back in 1985, Barrymore played Julia, a catering waitress who is engaged to a complete jerk named Glenn (Matthew Glave). She meets wedding singer Robbie (Sandler) at the reception hall where they both work, and it's the very definition of a meet-cute. However, Robbie is also engaged to a jerk named Linda (Angela Featherstone), who doesn't appreciate his low-paying job. Of course, Julia and Robbie end up together after he serenades her (with rock star Billy Idol's help) on the flight to her wedding in Las Vegas. Look, this would be a pretty awful situation in the real world, but in a film, it's adorable.
Since then, Barrymore and Sandler have re-teamed for two other romantic comedies: "50 First Dates" in 2004 and "Blended" in 2014. The two actors have been friends for years, as well as co-stars,...

Biopics about star athletes or artists tend to have the same broad shape: the rise to achievement and fame, the fall from triumph (often fueled by some combination of addiction and ego), the restoration to a harder-won glory. A great biopic, like “Get on Up” or “I, Tonya,” will tease a profound portrait of the subject out of that form; a middling one will oversimplify the subject just to hit the right beats. But then there’s a film like “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.” That’s not a movie title — it’s the title of a parable. And it’s well chosen, since “Big George Foreman” is about a life that feels so outlandishly ready-made for the ups and downs, the lessons and inspirations, of the superstar biopic genre that you don’t even have to mess with it.

On Feb. 13, 1998, New Line unveiled The Wedding Singer in theaters in time for Valentine’s Day audiences. The Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore rom-com went on to earn 123 million globally at the box office. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below.
We’ve all heard him, usually at weddings and bar mitzvahs where alcohol often blurs true appreciation of his talents. Song stylist extraordinaire, he has the uncanny ability to make virtually any song, even “In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida,” sound like “Hot Hot Hot.”
Now, thanks to Adam Sandler, he has been finally given his due in The Wedding Singer, a (for the most part) winning romantic comedy that plays off the per former’s sweet, loopy personality. Despite a saggy middle stymied by sappy good intentions, the picture stands as Sandler’s best effort.
Demographically, expect some thing of a trade-off. While all the lovey-dovey stuff might turn off some of his partying young male fans,...

Midway through the final season of “Better Things,” Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon) takes a break from a directing gig for a quick chat with the producer. Their day hasn’t been easy. The child actor won’t (or can’t) stop shouting his lines. His mom isn’t helping, demanding her son be called by his character’s name and insisting he has a “hard out” well ahead of wrap. The sitcom’s star, played by Ron Cephas Jones, is friends with Sam and has been cordial to her… until he snaps when she tries to do her job and, you know, direct him.
Throughout it all, the producer, Eli (Lena Waithe), has been silent yet sympathetic. She sees what’s going on, offering a knowing glance or supportive nod while Sam deals with problems that existed long before she took over the director’s chair. As it turns out,...

From Peg Bundy (“Married… With Children”) to Gemma Teller Morrow (“Sons of Anarchy”), Katey Sagal has played strong-willed characters before. But she doesn’t believe she’s ever played someone like Annie “Rebel” Bello.
“I know I’ve played some very hard women, but she’s hard for all of the right reasons. Her reasoning is to empower people to stand up and talk,” Sagal tells Variety.
In the new ABC drama “Rebel,” from “Grey’s Anatomy” showrunner Krista Vernoff and inspired by the real life of Erin Brockovich, Sagal’s title character is a blue-collar legal advocate — who doesn’t actually hold a law degree. In the premiere episode, though, she throws herself up against big corporation Stonemore Medical in order to fight for those who have been harmed by autoimmune symptoms from the company’s synthetic heart valve.

The customary, adrenaline-juiced montage of football prep and clash comes fast, furious and surprisingly early in the football melodrama “Safety,” streaming on Disney Plus starting Dec. 11. There’s a reason for the hurry, hurry, hurry. Turns out, college ball isn’t the most important goal of this heart-tugger, directed by Reginald Hudlin and written by Nick Santora. At least, not in typical gridiron fashion. Not that the college team’s boosters will have cause to belly ache: The screen is awash with their beloved tiger mascot’s paw print and inundated with waves of Clemson orange.
Jay Reeves — in what should be a boost to his nascent career — appeals as the promising football frosh Ray McELrathBey. When Ray arrives at Clemson University in South Carolina, he already faces daunting demands as an earnest student and new recruit in a storied program. And he quickly gets on the wrong side of...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Better Things” Season 4, Episode 10, “Listen to the Roosters.”]
Ghosts are walking among us, and they’re feeling very, very good.
One ghost in particular gets a temporary spotlight in the “Better Things” Season 4 finale (now available on Hulu), as a gray-haired woman in a yellow dress (played by Ellen Geer) shares a bit of foresight with Duke (Olivia Edward), the Fox family medium. Duke regularly connects with spirits, whether it’s the recurring presence of her grandfather in Season 3 or during the otherworldly Season 2 episode, “White Rock,” so it’s not all that surprising when her new friend up and vanishes via an apparitional Irish goodbye.
But before she leaves, this ghost offers a key bit of advice. Claiming she can see the future, Duke (in a moment of prescience) first asks if there is a future (there is), before saying, “I never want to get married or have kids...

Joris Jarsky, Sheila Houlahan and Sofia Vassilieva are the latest to join Warner Bros’ thriller The Little Things starring Oscar winners Denzel Washington, Jared Leto and Rami Malek. Written and directed by John Lee Hancock, the plot follows Deke (Washington), a burned-out Kern County, CA deputy sheriff who teams with Baxter (Malek), a crack Lasd detective, to nab a serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past. Family can lift you up, or they can drag you down.
In the case of Jimmy Downey, his family filled with abuse and crime threatened to pull him under so far he escaped leaving them far behind.
But when Jimmy's beloved mother, Rose, dies, Jimmy heads back to his hometown to face a lifetime of disillusion and disappointment that he was never able to escape no matter how much distance he set.
Michael Rowe, best known by TV Fanatics as Floyd Lawton/Deadshot on Arrow, stars as Jimmy, a police officer brimming with loneliness and unreleased anger.
His escape from St. John's, Newfoundland, to Toronto didn't heal his wounds after watching his father brutalize his mother for years, nor did it ease his pain at walking away and leaving his family to their own devices even if Jimmy was trying to be a better man.

The Haunted Comedy is a genre that probably reached its height in the 1940s with movies like Abbott and Costello's Hold that Ghost.
There was another wave of them during the 1980s with Haunted Honeymoon starring Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner, and High Spirits with Steve Guttenberg and Daryl Hannah.
To be clear, a haunted comedy is not the same as the horror comedies of the 90s like the Scream spoofs of the Scary Movie franchise.
Ghost Light is a comedy first, and one that deals with the goofy antics of the theater crowd.
Tempting Fate Review: Mistakes Were Made!
It's through their idiosyncracies and superstitions that the haunting gets explored.
If you didn't know, one of those superstitions is that the play, Macbeth, is cursed. You can't say the title lest the entire production get cursed.
Quoting lines before the production is also verboten, especially when noting the witches incantations.

We shared the trailer for Funny Story earlier this month.
Starring Matthew Glave, Jana Winternitz, and Emily Bett Rickards, the film follows Walter, an aging TV star, and his relationship with women, most especially with is sometimes-estranged daughter, Nic (Winternitz).
When Nic cancels on a weekend visit, Walter invites himself along with her and her friends on a weekend in Big Sur.
Rickards is Kim, a young woman suffering after the death of her mother whose car kicks the bucket after attending her mother's funeral, a situation that jeopardizes her attendance at the Big Sur get together.
Nic's simple request of her father to give Kim a ride sets into motion the central conflict of the movie and explores how honest someone should be with the people they love.

You've just said goodbye to Felicity Smoak Queen on Arrow, but that is hardly goodbye from Emily Bett Rickards.
Rickards is taking on a role unlike any we've seen her in previously in Funny Story, a movie coming to theaters, digitally, and On Demand May 24th.

What happens when an aging heartthrob accidentally sleeps with his daughter’s new girlfriend the day before officially meeting her? That’s the premise of “Funny Story,” a new comedy from Maker Studios co-founder Michael Gallagher. It sounds like a bit of a problematic premise, but also a potentially hilarious one. An exclusive new trailer shows that “Funny Story” could offer a fresh take on the love triangle rom-com, with an added queer twist.

Just when you think, “Oh, this is the through-line for Season 3,” Pamela Adlon takes “Better Things” in a whole new direction. Over the course of eight episodes, these standout moments slowly build into connections, the connections into loose themes, and the series into an endlessly watchable, yet utterly unquantifiable TV experience. In the end, there’s no one takeaway; there are dozens, and they’re delivered with the kind of beautiful storytelling that appears effortless, but actually requires acknowledgement on levels both granular and grand. “Better Things” is an unparalleled accomplishment, and a true original to boot.
Sam Fox (played by Adlon) starts the season by sending her oldest daughter, Max (Mikey Madison), to college in Chicago. The premise lends itself to expectations: an early fight reconciled in time for a sweet goodbye, with little comedic flourishes filling in the middle. Yet Adlon’s vignette structure ditches that formula early,...

Hey, NCIS fans. We hope you guys enjoyed this past Tuesday's night's episode 13. Now that it's in the books, It's time to go over what's in store for the next, new episode 14. Thanks to the kind folks over at CBS, we are able to do just that. They recently put out a new press release for episode 14. It reveals that episode 14 is entitled, "Once Upon A Tim." So,that definitely cleverly reveals that this will be a Tim McGee-centric episode. It definitely sounds like episode 14 will feature a ton of drama and intrigue as Tim visits his old high school and discovers a very unique password from his past is actually linked to a murder! Nope, I'm not kidding. A freaking murder, guys! Things will only get more crazy from there because an intruder will end up breaking into Tim's house with the intent of trying to steal Tim's computer...

Eligibility for continued survival is determined by the administration of a High School aptitude test – and those that fail are disposed of. "Are you ready for test day?" YouTube Red has unveiled the first trailer for a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller titled The Thinning, from writer/director Michael J. Gallagher. Set in the future, the story focuses on a high school aptitude test that is used to manage the population. Two students, played by Logan Paul and Peyton List, discover the test isn't what it seems and may actually be covering up a bigger conspiracy. This sounds kind of like Logan's Run, but revised to a high school level "aptitude test". The full cast includes Lia Marie Johnson, Calum Worthy, Matthew Glave, Michael Traynor and Ryan Newman. This looks like a mix of Hunger Games and a bunch of other much better sci-fi, but that may be why it's direct to VOD. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael J.
