From ‘Say Anything’ to ‘Palm Springs,’ Hulu nail every era of the rom-com.
Rom-coms are my favorite genre because when they really work, they deliver one of the best story experiences. Put simply, they both make me laugh and move me emotionally. Now, I’m not talking about the made-for-tv kind with generic meet-cutes and soft lighting, but the real deal: big-screen, laugh-out-loud, emotionally layered stories that actually stick with you.
So I started digging across the streamers, looking for the good ones. And while it’s obviously subjective, the best collection I found was on Hulu. Not the most rom-coms, but the right ones for me — a killer mix of 2000s nostalgia, indie hits, and buzzy modern entries that all hit that sweet spot. Here’s why Hulu is the best streamer for rom-com lovers who want quality, not quantity.
Everything you need to know about the best streamer for rom-com movies.

Spoilers for "Poker Face" season 2 follow.
"The Game is a Foot," the season 2 premiere of "Poker Face," offers Cynthia Erivo the role of a lifetime. Or rather, it offers her five roles of a lifetime, which she embraces whole-heartedly.
Erivo is introduced here playing Amber Kazinsky, a trodden-upon woman who finds out she's about to be denied her inheritance from her mean, dying mother. Turns out the money will instead be given to Amber's long-lost sibling Felicity, also played by Erivo. After Amber begins a scheme to kill Felicity and take over her life, the episode introduces us to Amber's other sister Didi, once again played by Erivo. We're soon introduced to Cece and Phoebe Kazinsky, and you're never gonna believe who plays those two. Long-time Erivo fans have known that the actress can do a lot more than play Elphaba from "Wicked," but now casual viewers know it too.

The director of the 1999 teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About Youis developing a sequel trilogy, more than a quarter of a century after the film starring the late Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles premiered. Per People, Gil Junger, who directed the original film, is working on a follow-up titled 10 Things I Hate About Dating, along with the original movie’s producer, Andrew Lazar.
It doesn’t end there, as Junger is proposing that 10 Things I Hate About Dating is just the first film in a sequel trilogy to the movie that also starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, David Krumholtz, Andrew Keegan, and Gabrielle Union. Junger is reportedly penning the script for the first film with Naya Elle James. Junger’s planned trilogy also includes two more titles called 10 Things I Hate About Marriage and 10 Things I Hate About Kids.

"How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways?" That's the tagline featured on many of the posters for the 1999 teen classic,10 Things I Hate About You. Based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," the film was a fun balance of the playwright's sensibilities and the teen movie boom that exploded during the late 90s. It's one of the best-received films of its kind from that era and is still beloved today, which could be why the film's director, Gil Junger, is confident that a sequel will be successful. In fact, he has ideas that will go beyond making just one follow-up.
During a chat with People, Junger revealed that he is working on a follow-up to 10 Things I Hate About You and is penning the script with Naye Elle James. The director also says that the film's original producer, Andrew Lazar, is on board,...

The 1999 high school comedy, 10 Things I Hate About You, helped usher in Heath Ledger as a new breakout star on American shores. The movie was a modern day retelling of the Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew and featured an ensemble cast that also included Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, Allison Janney and Larry Miller. The teen romance film would also become a hit as it opened second at the box office (having gone up against The Matrix) and grossed over $50 million worldwide on a $30 million budget. It would also spawn a TV show adaptation on ABC Family in 2009. Deadline is reporting that the director of the original film, Gil Junger, is now planning to make a sequel trilogy to the 1999 comedy.
The sequel trilogy will also have a nod to the late star, Heath Ledger, who played the school’s rebellious student, Patrick Verona.

There was a point in time when Hollywood studios thought 3D was the shining, sprawling future of cinema. Granted, a lot of 3D movies throughout the past 15 years have been gimmicky to the point of predictability, or they've been otherwise "regular" 2D movies with the three-dimensional effect artlessly and indifferently tacked on for a higher ticket price, which might account for why the novelty gradually wore off over time and stopped being the talk of the town..
Still, during the tech's heyday at the turn of the 2010s, a lot of thoughtful filmmakers made interesting, productive use of 3D in a variety of ways, creating a collective body of work that ensures dark multiplex goggles will be remembered as a genuine new frontier -- as opposed to a quaint little fad -- in film history books. Lily James is diving headfirst into Photo Booth, a psychological thriller that could be her Gone Girl moment or her final bow as a leading lady. In a role that echoes the cold brilliance of Rosamund Pike’s iconic turn as Amy Dunne, James trades her usual charm for something darker, sharper, and way more dangerous.
This is a career gamble that could either crown her as a queen of psychological cinema or pull the curtains on her headlining era. One thing’s certain: if she channels even half of Amy Dunne’s icy chaos, Photo Booth could be a game-changer.

MCU and Extraction star Chris Hemsworth continues to carve out his legacy as an action hero as he signs on to lead an action thriller for Amazon that has been described as a “Die Hard on a submarine.” Which, for an elevator pitch, is a pretty solid one.
Titled Subversion, the action outing is all set to be directed by Patrick Vollrath, who will helm the project for Amazon MGM Studios. The thriller has been written by Andrew Ferguson, and you can check out the synopsis for Subversion below, courtesy of THR.

Natasha Lyonne is set to make her feature directorial debut — with a big assist from artificial intelligence.
The “Poker Face” star is teaming up with Brit Marling and renowned computer scientist Jaron Lanier to create “Uncanny Valley,” a “hybrid film” that combines live action and AI. The new flick was announced on Tuesday by Asteria Studios, the self-described “ethical AI film and animation studio” that Lyonne co-founded alongside Bryn Mooser.
“Uncanny Valley,” per a release from Asteria, will be “powered by ‘Marey,’ the first clean foundational AI model developed by the engineers at Moonvalley, ensuring creative integrity and copyright transparency.”
Lyonne, in a statement shared with TheWrap, said it is “astounding” what can be created with AI when it is used “ethically and creatively.”

Darren Aronofsky and Mark Heyman have worked together several times over the years. Heyman was Aronofsky’s assistant when he made The Fountain, then he was the co-producer on The Wrestler, a writer on Black Swan, and an executive producer on Mother! So now that Heyman is set to make his feature directorial debut with the horror film Pendulum, it’s good to see that Aronofsky is there to back him up, producing the film through his company Protozoa. Back in October, we heard that Joseph Gordon-Levitt of The Dark Knight Rises and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F had signed on to star in the film. Phoebe Dynevor of Bridgerton and Fair Play joined in March. Now, Deadline reports that Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead and The Bikeriders has been added to the cast.

Bill Hader has gotten HBO to take a big sip of Flavor Aid. Variety has announced that the comedian and studio are pairing up to move forward on a series centered around the Peoples Temple leader, Jim Jones, and the tragic events that took place at the compound known as Jonestown. Hader is working alongside Daniel Zelman on the project, with the Saturday Night Live alum also reportedly in talks to don a pair of shades and step into the role of the unhinged cult leader. The duo of creatives will co-showrun, co-write, and executive produce, with Hader taking on even more responsibilities as the title’s director.

Time travel is one of the coolest concepts of sci-fi; the whole idea of manipulating and bending time to take yourself to a time of your wish is fascinating, and Hollywood has surely tried its hand at it. There are plenty of movies out there that play with the concept, but let’s be real, not everyone can nail it, oftentimes making movies with confusing paradoxes and stories filled with plot holes.
However, there have also been several movies that came out over the years that did justice to the concept and made cinematic gold. From directors bending the rules of time to creating thrillers and romantic comedies; there is something for everyone, especially to those who like sci-fi.
Recent movies follow multiple concepts of time, from time loops, alternate timelines, and paradoxes, directors tapped into a vast playing field that is guaranteed to fulfill a nerd’s dream. So...

Wade through the interface of Apple TV+, and you are pretty much bound to find one or two shows you’ve never heard of. In its relatively short six-year life cycle, the streamer has amassed an impressive library of titles featuring big name A-list actors and lush production values that you probably haven’t heard of at all. “Hello Tomorrow” starring Billy Crudup? “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey” starring Samuel L. If you’re not already obsessed with Poker Face, you’ve got time to catch up before Season 2 drops, and trust me, you’ll want to. The show follows Charlie Cale, played by the always iconic Natasha Lyonne, a human lie detector with zero filters, a messy past, and a habit of stumbling into murder scenes like it’s her full-time job. She’s not a cop, not a private eye, but just a woman on the run with a beat-up car, a killer sense of intuition, and the world’s worst luck when it comes to staying out of trouble.
Season 1 had major Columbo energy with a modern twist. Each episode was its own little mystery movie, with Charlie solving a fresh murder in a new town while dodging the rich and shady people trying to take her out.

Tom Hardy is, no surprise, terrific as mob fixer Harry da Souza in Guy Ritchie’s series “MobLand,” which debuted on Paramount+ on Sunday night. As with his previous criminal characters, he brings the necessary ruthlessness and brute power to the role.
While we wait for more episodes to roll out, why not revisit some of his best performances working with some of the best directors in the business, including Christopher Nolan, Nicolas Winding Refn and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
From an alien-possessed reporter to a gleefully garish supervillain, we love him at all decibel levels.

In this stacked cast, Hardy plays a lower-level operative who’s stumbled onto a dangerous secret, one that’s already gotten a number of people killed. It’s rare to see the actor...

Netflix has just turned the Bat-signal on to attract all subscribers and it's not a hoax. In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Batman Begins, the streamer decided to bring the whole trilogy helmed by Cristopher Nolan (Oppenheimer) into the catalog. With entries still ranked among the best superhero movies ever made, the trilogy still serves as reference for tone and how to create the perfect villain. You can stream all movies as early as today.
It's baffling to realize, but it's been almost 20 years since Nolan decided to bring a different approach to the superhero genre. The British director decided to set Batman Begins in a more grounded version of Gotham City, and made the bold move of only showing the title character one hour into the movie. Before that, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has a whole arc in which he loses his parents, flees Gotham, spends a...
