“There will always be war,” intones an authoritative voice at the end of the second trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. “But to get home, Furiosa fought the world.”
A narrator isn’t exactly something new to the world of Mad Max, as the 1981 sequel Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior opens and closes with voiceover, as does 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. But in those cases, the narration served a basic expositional purpose, providing basic information for those who have not seen the previous films — something particularly important for The Road Warrior, as few Americans had the opportunity to watch 1979’s Mad Max.
But as Anya Taylor-Joy steps in for Charlize Theron in Furiosa, the narrator serves a different, more important in-universe purpose.
In a recent interview with EW, Furiosa director George Miller shed some light on this voice from the shadows. “That’s a narrator called the History Man,...

The summer is here, and with the arrival of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Jurassic World right around the corner, the heat is really kicking up. Still, no movie has had me as excited as Mad Max: Fury Road.
The trailers have been insane, and no movie in years has sold me so quickly with the theory of wild, adrenaline-rush like this one.
You’ve seen plenty in the trailers to get your mind racing, but the new set of images really give you a lot of information (I think) about how cool this really might be.
Just take a look at this one –
courtesy Warner Bros.
Sure, you’ve seen the idea in the trailer, but just the sheer insanity of everything in this image. If this movie doesn’t turn out to be the most fun of the year, that in itself will be a feat.

I think that I can speak for the other writers on Dtb but Mad Max: Fury Road is probably one of the most anticipated films on our 2015 checklist. I grew up watching The Road Warrior (aka. We’re halfway through April dear readers, and that means the summer movie season is closer than ever. On this week’s Trailer Trashin’, I take another look at one of my most anticipated films of the year, George Miller’s action extravaganza Mad Max: Fury Road.
Premise: In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, loner “Mad” Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) meets Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman who wishes to cross the desert. Captured by the forces of warlord Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), Max’s only hope for freedom is Furiosa, who is on the run from Immortan Joe because she stole his most precious resource: five young women who have been kept as objects and whose purpose is to mother the next generation. They need Max’s knowledge of the desert to safely cross it and escape the madness of their enemies.
My take: The trailer kicks off with Max, who...

In anticipation of the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere, the 35+ year history of George Miller's dystopian franchise is celebrated in a new featurette. Also included in our latest round-up is a newly announced Blu-ray from Scream Factory that should please Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross fans, as well as the special features and cover art for Warner Bros.' Warner Bros. is betting big on its forthcoming apocalyptic extravaganza Mad Max: Fury Road. A return to the arid landscapes that dominated the road warrior’s earlier outings, this blockbuster positively smoulders in the brand new trailer that careened online today.
For the main thrust of previous previews, the focus has orbited around the titular figure played by Tom Hardy. His story arc finds him adrift in a dusty, inhospitable wasteland with no sense of direction – until he befriends Charlize Theron’s tough Imperator Furiosa. Desperate to return to her homeland, she and Max team up and face the evil tyrant Immortan Joe whilst charging across the cracked desert plains.
And now that the general story has been established, it’s time for hell to break loose in today’s fun time, balls-to-the-wall preview. A maelstrom of bespoke vehicles, seemingly crafted from the remnants of an atomic blast, pummel beneath...

For those movie fans keen to return to the arid deserts of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Warner Bros. has delivered your Christmas present early. In advance of its release next spring, we now bring you a new trailer for the eagerly-awaited Mad Max: Fury Road.
Revisiting the world first introduced to audiences back in 1979’s Mad Max, starring Mel Gibson, director George Miller amps up the action tenfold. The state of the world is much as it was then; society is on the brink of collapse due to global water and oil shortages and the savages are out to reap the benefits. Enlisting The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy in place of Gibson, this updated Max Rockatansky has new crazed adversaries to battle.
For the most part, the teaser orbits around the destruction caused by Nicholas Hoult’s larger-than-life villain, coming across like a spry version of the X-Men’s silent mutant,...

After another longer-than-expected absence, I’m back, dear readers, and I’m hoping to get this column back on something approaching a regular schedule. More importantly, this week finally sees the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, which I hope to be watching by the time you’re reading these words. But it’s never too early to look ahead to what’s coming out next year, and this Trailer Trashin’ column examines our first look at a film that’s definitely on my radar for next year: Mad Max: Fury Road.
Premise: An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed and fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world are two rebels on the run, who just might be able to restore order. One is “Mad” Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a...

I've been piecing together a synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road for awhile now, but have finally updated the site with the official synopsis for the film along with three new pictures (via JoBlo) from the movie. First... From director George Miller, originator of the post-apocalyptic genre and mastermind behind the legendary Mad Max franchise, comes Mad Max: Fury Road, a return to the world of the Road Warrior, Max Rockatansky. Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max (Tom Hardy) believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Charlize Theron). They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

Warner Bros. unveiled the first official trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, giving fans an explosive introduction to the upcoming reboot starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Sdcc attendees who stayed for the Warner Bros. panel were the first to see the new trailer but now we all get a chance to see the first footage from the highly-anticipated film from the director who brought us the franchise in the first place, George Miller.
“The film is going to be epic,” Jasin Boland, the photographer who took the production stills told the Sydney Morning Herald. “What [production designer] Colin Gibson and George have done creating that world is so exciting for people involved in the process. It quite possibly could reinvigorate the whole live-action action film again. And Tom is intense. He’s going to be a great Mad Max.”

Moviegoers last saw Max Rockatansky roaming the desert wasteland in 1985, but longtime fans of director/writer George Miller’s apocalyptic road rage series will be reunited with the widowed wanderer in May of 2015, when Mad Max: Fury Road hits theaters, and you can get a taste of the post-apocalyptic mayhem to come with the first trailer that was originally unveiled yesterday at Comic-Con.
Directed by George Miller and set for a May 15th, 2015 release, Mad Max: Fury Road features Tom Hardy in the role of Max Rockatansky (previously played by Mel Gibson) and Charlize Theron as the tough-as-nails Imperator Furiosa. Fans of The Road Warrior should be happy to hear that the movie will essentially be one long chase scene with low amounts of dialogue and digital effects. Here’s the updated synopsis of the film, which was shot in Africa’s Namib Desert (updated synopsis courtesy of Collider!):

This is a new photo that has surfaced from the set of Mad Max: Fury Road featuring Tom Hardy in the title role. This is only the second image we've seen of Hardy in the role, the first can be found here. The movie has completed shooting and is now in the post-production phase. So this photo was probably taken awhile ago. Hardy does look pretty badass in the role, but let's be honest... it's going to be hard to fill the shoes of Mel Gibson. Gibson was so awesome in those original films.
The long awaited Mad Max sequel is set to be released in 3D on May 15th, 2015

Warner Bros. has announced that George Miller's long-awaited sequel Mad Max: Fury Road will be released in 3D on May 15th, 2015. It's pretty incredible to see all of the films being released in 2015. It might just be the best year of movies ever.
Miller is done shooting the film and is currently in post-production. The director previously described the story of the movie as follows,

Slowly but surely George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road is going to make it to the big screen! It's been awhile since we've seen anything from the film, but today we have a new photo of Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky. It's actually just a better look at an older image that leaked last year. Hardy looks so freakin' badass in this role, and I seriously can't wait to see how this movie turns out!

It's been over 8 months since production wrapped on George Miller's action sequel 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and we're all still wondering just where the hell is it? Well it appears that following its South African shoot there's now the requirement for an additional three weeks of shooting down under in Sydney, Australia which will begin on 22 November. Casting calls are being made for varying roles such as 'odd, idiosyncratic faces' and 'slim builds' and also a supporting role for an Aboriginal elder. 'The Dark Knight Rises' star Tom Hardy become the new Max for this fourth installment and faces off against Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron ('Monster'). The mahoosive cast also includes Nicholas Hoult ('Warm Bodies'), Riley Keough ('Jack and Diane'), Zoe Kravitz, Nathan Jones, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Megan Gale, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Courtney Eaton, Josh Helman, Jennifer Hagan,...

Mad Max: Fury Road has been a long time in the making, but after years doing time in development hell, the George Miller-directed film finally rolled cameras this year and just wrapped principal photography after a six-month shoot in Namibia and South Africa.
