In November, Amazon revealed they’re working on a Mass Effect TV series. Jennifer Hale, the voice behind Commander Shepard, recently told Eurogamer she’s eager to join the project and hopes the original cast can be part of it too.
Hale expressed her excitement, saying she’s always open to reprising her role as Shepard: ‘You will always get a yes vote from me on Shepard coming back in any form. That was such a gift, and it’s a gift I will always be extremely joyful to receive.’ One big question, though, is whether Shepard in the show will be male or female.
Hale isn’t one to tell creators what to do, but she’s clear on one thing: ‘The only thing I must say about that TV series is I want to play! Any capacity, I will be there with bells on!’ She also hinted she...

Marvel has been busy celebrating the holidays in a big way, which shouldn’t really come as a big surprise. Along with new daily episodes of What If…?, the studio has also shared a special treat for fans of X-Men ‘97. A Yule Log video is now streaming on the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel.
The video shows a fire burning inside the X-Mansion, with a picture of Professor X above the flames. Nearby, there’s Magneto’s helmet sitting in a chair next to a pillow that looks like it’s been attacked by Wolverine’s claws.
You can also spot Scott Summers’ glasses, which help keep his optic blasts in check, as well as a photo of him with Jean Grey. His signature battle visor is placed beside it, reminding viewers of the X-Men’s ongoing fight for justice.

As we look ahead to the new year, Disney+ is gearing up to release exciting new content for its global audience. We're talking about shows such as Goosebumps: The Vanishing, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again and Andor season 2. However, for various reasons, there are some Disney+ shows that won't be returning with additional installments in the new year.
It could be because they were billed as miniseries, meaning that they were designed to conclude after only one season, which wrapped up this year. Another reason for them not returning could be that they won't be finished with the filmmaking process in time to make a 2025 release. There are also some Disney+ shows that won't be back next year because they ended or were canceled this year. Whatever the reason for them not returning, we're definitely going to miss them!

There are a lot of Marvel Studios projects to look forward to in 2025. That's certainly a good thing, because as great as the offerings from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been this year, there haven't been that many of them. We had Echo at the beginning of the year on Disney Plus, Deadpool and Wolverine released in theaters this summer, and Agatha All Along closed things out with a spookily sensational run on Disney Plus that had the world guessing the whole way throughout.
The third and final season of What If...? is set to premiere this holiday season, and separate animated series X-Men '97 enjoyed a critically-acclaimed run earlier this year. It's been a good year for Marvel, but there were also a number of titles that were supposed to release this year that didn't due to delays.

Space opera video game series "Mass Effect" is officially making the jump to television. Variety reports that Amazon MGM Studios has ordered a "Mass Effect" series from writer Daniel Casey ("F9"). Executive producers include Karim Zreik of Cedar Tree Productions, Michael Gamble of "Mass Effect" owner EA (Electronic Arts), and Ari Arad (son of famous "Spider-Man" producer Avi Arad).
A "Mass Effect" TV series was first revealed to be in the works at Amazon back in 2021. Previously, there were also plans to turn the "Mass Effect" video games into a movie, but that never rose out of development hell.
It's easy to trace this news back to Amazon's recent success with adapting the "Fallout" games into a TV series. Amazon MGM Studios also recently announced a "God of War" TV series (showrun by "Star Trek" and "Battlestar Galactica" legend Ronald D. Moore) and "Mass Effect" fits right in with these other plans.

After a relatively conservative round of announcements at San Diego Comic-Con, D23, and New York Comic Con regarding upcoming Marvel Studios releases, no one anticipated that the biggest wave of announcements would come in the form of a Disney+ promo dropped just before midnight on the streaming platform.
In the 60-second spot, Marvel confirmed the release dates and windows for over half a dozen live-action and animated Marvel Studios titles set to come within the final two months of 2024 and across 2025.
The list for 2025 included highly anticipated live-action shows such as Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, and Wonder Man, as well as a handful of animated originals that have been long in the works.
There were a lot of amazing shows confirmed to be coming to Disney+ in 2025, but there was one notable hit series missing from the promo — an omission that seems to hint that the show won’t be...

Heartstopper‘s Joe Locke is having a week. He’s been keeping one of Marvel’s worst-kept secrets for two years, and after the latest episode of Agatha All Along, he can finally breathe a sign of relief. I say worst-kept because anyone familiar with Marvel Comics has known his character’s identity for years. Sure, Marvel could always pull a fast one, but all signs have pointed to Locke’s “Teen” being Billy Kaplan, also known as Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan, the Scarlet Witch’s son. Whether you’re shocked by Teen’s true identity or not, Billy’s arrival in the MCU stirs the cauldron into something fierce, especially since we don’t know if he’s a good or bad witch. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Locke opens up about waiting for the reveal and what his place in the MCU could mean for the Scarlet Witch’s return.

Comic book fans have known from the start that Joe Locke's Teen was likely Billy Maximoff/Wiccan, and his true identity was finally revealed in last week's fifth episode of Agatha All Along, "Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power."
Revealing that he secretly has powers, Billy seemingly killed Agatha Harkness, Lilia Calderu, and Jennifer Hale after Alice Wu-Gulliver's death at the hands of the title character.
However, in this newly released midseason trailer, we see that Agatha manages to survive after rising from the ground to ask, "What does Billy Maximoff want at the end of the Road?"
If we had to hazard a guess, it's probably his mother, Wanda! The Scarlet Witch seemingly died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Billy is bound to have some questions for her...including the location of his father, Vision, and brother, Tommy, we'd bet.

Joe Locke is finally able to breathe after the fifth episode of “Agatha All Along” dropped on Disney+. That’s because the installment, titled “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power,” ends with the long-awaited reveal that Locke’s character Teen is actually Billy, the son of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch whose also the teenage superhero Wiccan. Fans expected the twist, but it still delivered shock and awe as a Scarlet Witch-like crown formed on Billy’s head.
“It’s so nice. I feel like I’m breathing. I love it,” Locke told Entertainment Weekly about the big secret finally being out there in the world, adding that he took four doses of melatonin the night before the episode started streaming so he’d be able to calm his nerves and sleep.

In last Wednesday's episode of Agatha All Along - read our recap here - we learned that Joe Locke's Teen is Billy, the son of Vision and the Scarlet Witch.
When we last saw him as a little boy, he faded into nothingness when the Hex came down. However, there are plenty of ideas from Marvel Comics that Marvel Studios can use to explain Wiccan's shocking resurrection.
The closing moments of "Darkest Hour / Wake They Power" saw Wiccan use the powers he'd kept a secret to fling Agatha Harkness, Lilia Calderu, and Jennifer Hale into quicksand-like mud. Meanwhile, a Scarlet Witch-inspired crown appeared on his forehead to the tune of Billie Eilish's "You Should See Me in a Crown."
"The show starts getting real," Locke tells Entertainment Weekly. "The show starts with Billy being very much the familiar, the secondary to all the witches. Now we know he is also a witch,...

Marvel Studios has experienced a lot of success in 2024, bouncing back after 2023, which was a pretty lacklustre year for all involved. From the release of TV-ma series Echo to the triumphant return to the movies with Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as this season's release of Agatha All Along, it's been the comeback for the ages for Marvel. But perhaps their greatest success has been that of X-Men '97.
The first series under the Marvel Animation banner (and second animated series in general), the Disney Plus show is a sequel to the classic X-Men: The Animated Series, with some of the original cast members returning. Like its predecessor, it was praised for its mature approach to the storytelling and the thoughtful way that it explored a number of narratives throughout its 10-episode first season.

The Mutants are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's right, the X-Men's arrivals are on the horizon, as the Marvel Studios franchise has been slowly laying the groundwork for their entrance into the film series throughout the Multiverse Saga, with nods and references to iconic X-Men characters, themes, and storylines along the way.
But the next phase in that plan to introduce the characters will come in the form of a movie. Yes, Marvel Studios is indeed developing an X-Men movie, with a writer already attached to the project. And with Kevin Feige already confirming that the Mutants Era is here, it's only a matter of time until we meet Marvel's Mightiest Mutants in the form of Charles Xavier's team of superheroes.
Naturally, fans are wondering which of the classic X-Men heroes will be involved in the project. We've seen two live-action iterations of the team thus far,...

Back in March, the surprising news broke that Marvel Studios/Disney had fired X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo shortly before the animated revival show's world premiere.
Since then, the internet has been rife with rumors and speculation about what might have led to DeMayo's dismissal, and last month, Marvel finally released a statement on the matter.
"Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation. Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel."
Though no specific details were revealed, we have since heard that DeMayo was terminated for sending lewd photos to members of his staff, and there have been further reports of him being physically and sexually inappropriate with several of his colleagues.
DeMayo has denied this, suggesting that his firing was simply due to homophobia, and claiming that he was stripped of his X-Men '97...

After a thrilling first season, it looks like X-Men ’97 will be coming back with a bang. Although the animated series only made its way to Disney Plus earlier this year, it has had fans hooked right from the get-go. However, it is not just fans of the show who have lost their collective minds about the upcoming second season. In fact, even Jennifer Hale, who voices Jean Grey, added to the suspense with a cryptic message about what fans can expect from the awaited season.

Jennifer Hale has been a fumbling alien, a screaming six-year-old and a superhero who saves the world. We've been waiting a long time for the debut of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now it's finally happening. Just like the multiple teases that Marvel Studios has made over the past few years, their arrival won't happen right away, but with the success of Deadpool and Wolverine, it's only a matter of time.
There is an X-Men movie in development, with reports claiming it could be a part of Phase Seven (which would place it after the Multiverse Saga concludes), but there is speculation that we could see multiple X-Men characters surface in the MCU before that movie. There is an X-Men movie in development, with reports claiming it could be a part of Phase Seven (which would place it after the Multiverse Saga concludes), but there is speculation that we could see multiple X-Men characters surface in the MCU before that movie. Every mutant in the world of the “X-Men” has some sort of physics-defying superpower, from Jean Grey’s (Jennifer Hale) peerless telekinetic prowess to Scott Summers’ (Ray Chase) laser eyes to Wolverine’s (Cal Dodd) claws that go snikt. But the power at the heart of the appeal of Disney and Marvel’s animated series “X-Men ‘97” is the show’s ability to bridge time and make the current moment in animation feel like days of future past.
“X-Men ‘97” is, in the words of head director and supervising producer Jake Castorena, meant to be a direct spiritual successor to “X-Men: The Animated Series,” the iconic 1992 series produced by Saban Entertainment that ran until 1996. The new show, created by Beau DeMayo (who was subsequently fired from the project before it premiered), returns to many of the same characters, settings, and relationship dynamics, even to many of the same voice actors as the original.

Beau DeMayo was fired as X-Men '97 showrunner back in March prior to the show's world premiere, but he had already completed work on the scripts for the second season of the acclaimed animated revival series.
Now, Marvel Studios has hired a new scribe to replace him for the in-development season 3, with Deadline reporting that Matthew Chauncey, who has previously worked on episodes of What If...? and Ms. Marvel, will succeed DeMayo as head writer on X-Men '97.
Chauncey will work alongside director Jake Castorena, with original '90s series EPs Larry Houston and Eric and Julia Lewald remaining on board as consulting producers.
Exact season 2 plot details are still under wraps, but during a recent interview with Discussing Film, Castorena was asked if they intend to hold on to the '90s aesthetic, and if he anticipates the show taking influence from later comic book runs for the second season.

The hit show, which brings back the ’90s “X-Men” animated series we all know and love, is heading into its third season with some big changes. Matthew Chauncey has been chosen as the new head writer. He takes over from Beau DeMayo, who left the job earlier this year.
Chauncey is no stranger to Marvel stories. He’s written for other animated shows like “What If…?” and the live-action series “Ms. Marvel.” With his experience writing both cartoons and live movies, he seems like a great fit to guide where the new season goes.
Season one of the revival was a huge hit on Disney+. The early episodes got over 4 million viewers in just a few days. Even the season finale had around 3.5 million people tuning in. That makes it one of the most watched animation finales on the streaming service!
It seems like Disney+ and Marvel are confident Chauncey can keep the success going.

Exclusive: Matthew Chauncey (What If…?) has been tapped to write Season 3 of Disney+’s X-Men ’97, Marvel Animation‘s revival of the classic ’90s animated series, sources tell Deadline.
Chauncey succeeds Beau DeMayo who parted ways with Marvel earlier this year, ahead of X-Men ’97‘s March 20 premiere, after completing work on both Season 1 and Season 2.
Chauncey will work alongside X-Men 97 director Jake Castorena, who has been on the animated followup from the start. Larry Houston and Eric and Julia Lewald, executive produced on the original X-Men: The Animated Series, will remain on as consulting producers. X-Men... 2000?
Although the recent Disney+ show served as a revival of an animated series that aired 25 years ago, the decision was made to keep the action rooted firmly in the original era. But with season 2 already confirmed and reports that Marvel Studios fully intends to keep the show going for as long as possible, could the mutant heroes make the jump into the noughties?
During an interview with Discussing Film, supervising director Jake Castorena was asked if they intend to hold on to the '90s aesthetic, and if he anticipates the show taking influence from later comic book runs for the second season.
"We touched on that, even in season one with E is for Extinction, which was definitely not of the ’90s run per se but in the zeitgeist of the era that came a little later," he replied. "Once so much time passes, that’s pretty much...

Despite being fired as X-Men '97 showrunner (the details are still sketchy) shortly before the series premiered on Disney+, Beau DeMayo has remained active on social media, sharing intriguing insights into the development of the animated revival show and revealing some of his key influences.
DeMayo has previously explained how the iconic "Superman takes flight" sequence from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel inspired a similar moment from episode 6 featuring Storm regaining her powers, and has now revealed that a different scene may have "subconsciously influenced" Rogue attacking the villainous Bastion in the recent season finale.
This was yet another standout moment for Rogue, who unleashed the full extent of her power while channelling the pain and rage she felt after losing Gambit in the Genosha massacre
I was likely subconsciously influenced by this when writing the #xmen97 finale beat of Rogue punching Bastion. That’s not Superman hammering Zod.

My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. So, if you love the heart, optimism, great story, and fantastic animation...

The season 1 finale of Marvel Studios' acclaimed animated series, X-Men '97, hit Disney+ last Wednesday, and the events of "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3" may have given us a pretty good idea of which characters will be undergoing a major personality change when the show returns for its second season.
If you haven't watched the episode yet, spoilers follow.
In the closing moments of the drama-filled finale, the team managed to defeat Bastion and prevent Asteroid M from destroying the planet, but the heroes ended up being transported through time in the process (by who or what remains to be seen).
Xavier (Ross Marquand), Magneto (Matthew Waterson), Rogue (Lenore Zann), Nightcrawler (Adrian Hough), and Beast (George Buza) find themselves in Egypt in the year 3,000 B.C., where they encounter a younger En Sabah Nur (Adetokumboh M'Cormack); while Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale) and Cyclops (Ray Chase) land way into the future in the year 3960 A.

X-Men '97 was a big hit with critics right from the start, but the Disney+ revival series has now become the highest-rated Marvel Studios project - live-action or animated, big or small screen - in the 16-year history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With more reviews now counted for last Wednesday's season finale, X-Men '97 has reached a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. This takes it past Marvel's previous top-rated Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel (98%), and movie, Black Panther (96%), to become the most positively-reviewed MCU project of all time on the popular aggregator site.

Exclusive: The finale of X-Men ’97 has set a promising track record for Disney+.
The episode, which debuted on May 15, saw 3.5M views globally in its first five days on the streaming platform. That makes it the most-viewed full-length animation series finale since Season 1 of What If…?, the Walt Disney Company says.
According to Disney, viewership had been growing consistently over the four episodes leading to the finale.
X-Men ’97 premiered in March with 4M views collectively across the first two episodes in their first five days on the platform.
The exact breakdown of viewership for each episode is unclear, but regardless it does indicate a strong, growing interest for the animated series, since the finale alone was nearly able to match the audience of the first two episodes in the same time frame.
As an added bonus, Disney also says that viewership for the original 1992 X-Men animated series has doubled since X-Men ’97 premiered.

After an exciting, often shocking run of episodes, the season 1 finale of X-Men '97 hits Disney+ next Wednesday, and (former) showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared some "homework" for fans who might want a cryptic hint about what to expect from "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3."
Spoilers for last week's episode and (potentially) Wednesday's instalment follow.
DeMayo posted an image from Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5, episode 18, "Cause and Effect." This episode of the beloved sci-fi series saw the crew of the Enterprise caught in a time-loop, with the ship being destroyed over and over again, and Picard, Riker, Data and co. having to figure out how to reset the anomaly.
Does this suggest that the X-Men will find themselves in a similar situation? "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2" certainly left the team in dire straits, with Jean Grey killed(?) by a Mr. Sinister-controlled Cable, and Wolverine's Adamantium...

There's only two more episodes of X-Men '97 to go, and Marvel Studios has released a clip from tomorrow's penultimate season 1 chapter, "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2."
The preview finds our mutant heroes suiting-up in new costumes for their impending battle with Bastion and his forces.
The outfits are a mixture of the team's classic looks, and the costumes they wore in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men. The clip also sees Jubilee burn Roberto DaCosta's business card, so Sunspot must have decided not to join the fight.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo hinted at the costume change when he shared the unused pilot for Pryde of the X-Men earlier today.
DeMayo was also asked if he's ever heard any talk of adding Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat to the X-Men '97 roster.
"I haven’t, but my suspicion is Jubilee and Kitty slightly compete in terms of their age and Pov on the team.

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).
With the Anti-Monitor on the loose, a whole host of heroes assemble to save the Multiverse, but it looks like that will be easier said than done when they also have Lex Luthor to contend with. Several other villains are also spotted, including The Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face.
In terms of cameos, the trailer ends with another Batman: The Animated Series tease. Batman Beyond also appears, but perhaps the biggest surprise comes when we return to the world of the Super Friends!
The Saturday morning cartoon aired between 1973 and 1985 on ABC and was produced by Hanna-Barbera. That classic animation style returns here and we're hoping the movie has even...

"Magneto was right..."
Former X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has taken to social media to share a "homework assignment" for fans that may want a better idea of what to expect from the middle chapter in the three-part season finale, which airs on Disney+ next Wednesday.
DeMayo posted the cover to 1993's Uncanny X-Men #304, which marked the 30th anniversary celebration of the iconic mutant heroes, and the third chapter in the "Fatal Attractions" storyline.

Towards the end of Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1, Dr. Valerie Cooper frees Magnus from Bastion's prison, and the Master of Magnetism flies to one of the northern magnetic pole to manipulate Earth's magnetic field, using his powers to wipe...

All hell broke loose in the fifth episode of “X-Men ’97,” “Remember It.” The shocking events are so traumatic, in fact, that fired showrunner Beau DeMayo momentarily broke his silence about the show to explain why it was important to reflect that “the X-Men have now been hit hard by the realities of an adult and unsafe world.”
