At Paris Fashion Week, the autumn / winter 2024 collections have been strongly influenced by the 1960s — quite notably at Dior — and it’s no different for French luxury shoe brand Roger Vivier. Holding its presentation at a different-than-usual location in Paris, at the Maison de l’Amérique Latine, the brand welcomed guests with a long glamorous red carpet at the entrance.
Camille Razat from Emily In Paris stopped in to see the new “Vivier Op-tical”-themed collection, while iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve caused a stir as she stopped in with cameras following her. Other guests included actresses Kelly Rutherford and Naomie Harris, model Paris Jackson and Spanish model Rossy de Palma.

Pamela Salem, who portrayed Miss Moneypenny in the non-Eon James Bond movie Never Say Never Again, has passed away at the age of 80.
While Pamela Salem’s turn as Moneypenny was a one-off – and in a film that is widely not considered part of the 007 canon – her go at the beloved character can’t be ignored. Interestingly, despite how frequently the character appears in the Bond universe, she has only been played by a small selection of actresses: Lois Maxwell, Caroline Bliss, Samantha Bond, and Naomie Harris. But only Salem has the distinction of playing Miss Moneypenny just one time.
But not once was there any strange bad blood between Pamela Salem or her predecessors, particularly Maxwell. As per a 1984 interview (via The Hollywood Reporter), Salem said, “I had seen Moneypenny before, of course, in the earlier films played by Lois Maxwell…At first [the media] tried to stir things up between...

A Look at Video Game Movie Adaptations With Highest Box Office Success (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Video game movie adaptations, especially video games with large fanbases, have always been a touchy subject. The ‘physics’ of video games is different; translating all that action and storyline into a film is not the most straightforward task, and when you factor in the expectations of an entire fanbase — the whole ordeal becomes downright daunting. Luckily, video game adaptations have taken off in the past decade, especially on TV in 2023 — and quite successfully! Their box office numbers prove that.
But, as mentioned above, these movies are brutal, considering their more fantastical elements and ‘animation.’ The latest addition anticipated for success in this category is the upcoming Minecraft, scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.
Minecraft has a star-studded cast, including Jason Momoa, Matt Berry, Danielle Brooks, and possibly Jack Black. Let’s just wait and see how it pans out.

Actor Jamie Foxx collaborated with Heat director Michael Mann for the film Miami Vice. The stylish feature would include a scene that required Foxx to be physically close with his love interest. But Foxx took creative liberties with the shot, which threw Mann into a panic.

Foxx considered his love scene in Miami Vice to be a memorable experience. But it wasn’t so just because of Harris. Although Harris would be with Foxx to initiate the scene, Harris’ body-double would later be called in to complete the take. Foxx was as impressed with the body double’s physique as he was her professionalism.
“Her body was whoa,” Foxx once told The Sydney Morning Herald. “Whoever picked her was right on. She had never done it before. So, they were setting up the shot,...

Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival has cancelled its swanky Women in Cinema gala event at the upcoming Venice Film Festival in response to the ongoing actors’ strike.
Red Sea CEO Mohammed Al Turki announced the move on his Instagram account on Monday.
“Due to the actors’ strike and in solidarity with the actors. We are unable to proceed with the Women in Cinema event,” he wrote.
Venice, running from August 30 to September 9, is one of the first big film events to feel the heat of the actors’ strike, with original opening film Challengers pulled after its announcement due to the fact its key cast, topped by Zendaya, would be unlikely to attend.
Festival head Alberto Barbera has pulled together an impressive line-up nonetheless but it remains to be seen how much talent will be swilling around the Lido with little end in sight for the actors’ strike which began mid-July.

Opening in March 2022, the production has sold over 200,000 tickets. By the time it closes, the show will be the longest running mask show that the company has presented in London.
Over 600 people have worked on the show, making it the largest project in Punchdrunk’s history. The epic retelling of the end of the Trojan war, set between the neon-drenched backstreets of downtown Troy and the menacing but opulent shadow of Greece, is played out across two vast warehouse buildings. Part of the old Woolwich Arsenal, these buildings provide Punchdrunk with its first permanent home in London.

Exclusive: Tobias Menzies was hiding in plain sight at a rally held by UK actors union Equity in support of its sister union SAG-AFTRA.
Cameras and microphones were being shoved in front of the likes of Brian Cox, Imelda Staunton, Jim Carter, Hayley Atwell, David Oyelowo, Naomie Harris and many others, but Menzies was just out of shot.
Had Menzies been wearing a bespoke suit, shirt, tie and nice polished shoes, the penny might have dropped for some in the media scrum.
He won an Emmy for his portrayal of Prince Philip in Seasons 3 and 4 of Netflix and Left Bank Pictures’ The Crown.
Then there’s Nicole Holofcener’s sharply observed — satisfyingly so — arch comedy You Hurt My Feelings, which is available on digital platforms in the U.S. and streaming on Prime Video in the U.K. from August 8.

Succession star Brian Cox has said the actors strike will “affect British Equity far worse than it will probably affect SAG-AFTRA.”
“We are at the thin end of a really horrible wedge,” he said as he addressed the London Equity rally this afternoon in support of striking actors. He didn’t elaborate on why Equity would be harder hit by the strike, which has just entered it second week.
The veteran British star stressed that things are also harder in the U.S. due to the lack of a national health service.

It’s been 20 years since 28 Days Later initially hit the screens. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland managed to revitalize the zombie genre by adding new wrinkles to a well-worn concept. Plus, it was simply a fantastic film with an excellent story and strong, three-dimensional characters. 28 Days Later was a huge hit at the box office. So naturally, executives decided to make a sequel four years later. Neither Boyle nor Garland had anything to do with the sequel. The story also didn’t see the return of original cast members Jim (Cillian Murphy), Selena (Naomie Harris), or Sarah (Megan Burns).
