Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay has launched the nonprofit Yellow Dot Studios as a content production banner to raise awareness about the global climate crisis.
The new venture aims to quickly produce videos, memes and media for viral distribution and will kick off with the debut video “Commercial For Big Money.” McKay, who is also known for movies like Vice, The Big Short, Anchorman, Step Brothers and Talladega Nights, in a statement said Yellow Dot needs to play catch up as the mainstream media is slow to cover the global climate emergency.
“Oil companies’ horrible and destructive disinformation created decades of delay in dealing with climate breakdown. Yellow Dot’s goal is to push back, whether that’s through in-house videos, or videos for climate orgs and activist groups, to help get people involved and activated at a rapid pace,” McKay argued.

Berlin (Germany), Oct 6 (Ians) Andre Silva’s second-half brace helped Rb Leipzig take their first points in UEFA Champions League Group F after seeing off Celtic 3-1.
The Red Bulls staged a lively opening period on home soil as Christopher Nkunku pulled wide from a promising position with only two minutes gone on Wednesday.
Leipzig had to make some early changes as goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi suffered a knee injury after a return pass and had to be taken off.
The hosts thought they had broken the deadlock in the 18th minute, but Nkunku’s goal was ruled offside by Var.
Celtic responded well as Leipzig’s backup goalie Janis Blaswich had to be on guard to deny Kyogo Furuhashi in the 24th minute before the Japan international missed the target two minutes later.

When the biggest cheer of a 90,000 seater football stadium comes from paper aeroplanes landing on the pitch, it’s fair to say there’s a problem.
That problem being the English national side. I’m getting bored harping on about how the England team fails to progress or even just to impress. If anything, I feel like we’ve gone backwards over the last couple of years.
Sometimes I watch the tv (because you couldn’t pay me to go watch England during the qualifiers) and I just want to scream. Maybe Gareth Southgate should allow some England fans to facetime into the team meetings to express the nation’s frustrations! They need to know what they are putting all the English fans through. It’s easy for players like Harry Kane and Joe Hart to say things like it was all about qualifying and they’ve managed to do...

For me, it’s been a long time coming, but the last of the ‘old guard’ has finally bowed out of international football. Out with the old and in with the new and all that. That’s not being disrespectful to Wayne Rooney, he will remain as one of England’s greatest players, and his goal scoring record will be safe for a good while yet. However, like any player, time finally catches up with you. Though when your all time leading goal scorer is dropping back in between the centre backs to receive the ball alarm bells should start ringing. For certain games it was as if England were playing with ten men, and when you have a player roaming around the pitch, the shape and system of a team ultimately suffers.
For me, Rooney should have been dropped for the Euros. I understand why it’s difficult to drop a player like Rooney,...

Oh how I wish the title of this article could be different. Sadly when England come up against Germany in any competition (especially in a semi-final) there’s a good chance it will end in defeat. Sad but true. Before the game, I let myself get carried away thinking of different titles for this piece on English football, such as ‘England’s Bright Future’, or ‘Bring on Russia’. But unfortunately as soon as the referee blew his whistle for the end of extra time, the title wrote itself.
After the major success of England winning the U20 ‘s World Cup, the nation inevitably turned their attention to the U21’s European Championships. The U20’s 1-0 win over Venezuela meant it was England’s biggest international title since Bobby Moore lifted the World Cup in 1966. That’s depressing. Not taking anything away from the U20’s impressive feat, but surely...

England secured qualification for Euro 2012 but it was overshadowed by a late Montenegro equaliser and a Wayne Rooney red card. England dominated the first half, going ahead through goals from Ashley Young and Darren Bent, before Elsad Zverotic pulled one back. Wayne Rooney was sent off for a violent kick in the second half though and Andrija Delibasic levelled the score with a dramatic late header.
An allocation of 1,200 fans travelled to the Podgorica City Stadium to watch England take on the newest international team. Montenegro – formerly merged with Serbia, have only been on the international scene since 2006, and have achieved a meteoric rise through FIFA’s rankings system – climbing from 208th to 26th in the past five years.
It certainly wasn’t going to be an easy game for Fabio Capello’s side. Although Montenegro has a population smaller than Leeds, they have a new manager in the form...

Fabio Capello has announced the full England squad that will travel to Montenegro on Friday, with the hope of securing their place in the European finals next summer. England only need a point to be guaranteed a place in the finals that will take place in Poland and Ukraine next June.
The most notable absentees in this squad are Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard – with Rio out for ‘fitness’ reasons and Gerrard only just having come back from injury after a 6 month absence and, wisely, he will not be risked.
Danny Welbeck and Bobby Zamora have earned another England call-up (both performing excellently this season for their clubs) and Kyle Walker being promoted from the u-21 set-up after an excellent performance this weekend, scoring the winning goal in the North London derby yesterday.
The Three Lions will be out to prove what they can seemingly do in their sleep – qualify with flying colours.

On a bad night for Manchester Bayern Munich displayed trademark efficiency to defeat City 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Two Mario Gomez tap-ins gave the German side three points and moved them top of Group A with two wins from their opening two games. Manchester City had two strong penalty appeals turned down but on balance were outclassed by their opponents who could realistically have won by four or five. Manchester United also threw away a two goal lead to draw 3-3 with Fc Basel.
What a tough group Manchester City have – Napoli, Villarreal and of course their opponents for this game, Bayern Munich. The Sky Blues’ European journey was just beginning but a loss to Die Roten would put Roberto Mancini’s side 5 points behind the Germans just two games in. It was a huge task for the visitors –the toughest match of the group stages as not only...

What better place to start this week than at the beginning? Kind of like Genesis, nothing to do with Phil Collins mind, I refer to that story of God creating the world in seven days. I’m not here for theological debate mind you, despite being told I am quite the pub philosopher.
Following a similar tack to Genesis, with Arsene Wenger assuming the role of God, the Frenchman plucked Arsenal from the doldrums of Bruce Rioch. Light from where there was once only dark, creating stars from nothing and so on and so forth.
The simile would be even more fitting if Genesis then detailed God’s master plan of removing the stars and replacing them with eco-friendly, energy saving light bulbs, a result of the seventh day resting on transfer deadline day. Why one would only be able to purchase light bulbs during the transfer window I don’t know,...

England recorded an unimpressive win to lift the Wembley curse and practically guarantee their place at Euro 2012. A first half goal from Ashley Young ensured victory, but Wales will be wondering what could have been after Robert Earnshaw missed an absolute sitter late on in the game. The visitors equipped themselves well, looking particularly dangerous in the second half and will count themselves extremely unlucky to come away with nothing.
FIFA’s questionable ranking system suggested an easy win for 4th placed England who took on 117th place Wales at Wembley. The Welshmen were also out of their depths financially speaking, with an overall value of £15 million compared to England’s £126 million, but this didn’t stop Montenegro and Switzerland – Capello’s men were on their worst winless streak ever at their home ground, and although qualification was almost in touching distance, they were looking to do a professional job against the visitors.

Only England can make a 3-0 victory look thoroughly unremarkable as they ran out comfortable but unexceptional victors against a toothless Bulgarian side who created very few chances. Three goals in the first half: a first international goal for Gary Cahill and a brace from Wayne Rooney ensured the three points for Capello’s side, who put in a professional performance if not a sensational one to end Lothar Matthäus’ unbeaten run and put themselves three points clear at the top of their qualifying group G.
England travelled to the Stadion Vasil Levski in Sofia to take on Bulgaria, a side they have never lost to, on the back of a terrific away record for Fabio Capello, who had won 9 of his last 13 away fixtures. In addition to this, last time the two teams met England ran out 4-0 victors courtesy of a Jermaine Defoe hat trick. Lothar Matthäus has...

Aston Villa v Wolves
Prediction: 1-1
Wolves have won all three of their games this season and will go into this derby match high on confidence, however Villa are also in good form despite losing Downing, Friedel and Young over the summer. With both teams having only conceded one goal each, this could a very tight game.
Wigan v Qpr
Prediction:0-1
Wigan are probably the most underwhelming side in the league and will further prove it this weekend. Qpr should be buoyant, free from the shackles of the Carling cup, about to sign philosopher Joey Barton and recently taken over by Tony Fernandes who has offered many fans part refunds on their season tickets. It may not be the most entertaining of games but Qpr should just about come out on top.
Blackburn v Everton
Prediction: 1-2
Everton will have been very disappointed to lose to Qpr last week...

All eyes were on exciting new Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as Bolton Wanderers hosted a fine display of attacking football from both sides at the Reebok Stadium. It was David Silva who stole the show though, as he, Edin Dzeko and Gareth Barry fired City to victory. Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies both scored for Bolton, but their efforts were ultimately in vain.
Manchester City’s travelling support made the short journey to the Reebok Stadium no doubt hoping to see Aguero re-create some of the magic he displayed against Swansea on Monday. He started on the left side of an impressive three-pronged attack that also included Edin Dzeko and David Silva. A foot injury to Nigel De Jong meant a start for Gareth Barry in the centre of midfield.

The first of a new regular column from Tom Bryne… the weekend Premiership preview…
Arsenal v Liverpool
Prediction: 0-1
Arsenal go into this huge game in the midst of their first injury crisis of the new season. On top of the suspended duo of Song and Gervinho, they’ll also be without Gibbs, Djourou, Wilshire and Rosicky meaning youngsters Frimpong, Jenkinson and Lansbury are in line for debuts and rare starts. The key for them will be to keep Van Persie involved and not allow Liverpool to isolate him.
Liverpool will play on the break with the pace of Downing and Saurez, they will also look to use Carroll’s height although on early evidence, Arsenal seem to have upped their game defending set pieces.
I still see Liverpool nicking a goal, and can’t see Arsenal troubling Liverpool in what will be a very dull match.

Last Saturday, the Loew's Jersey City movie theater presented Thing-Fest. Contrary to what you may think, this wasn't a tribute to the famed disembodied hand from The Addams Family. Rather, it was a double feature consisting of Howard Hawks' original 1956 science fiction classic The Thing From Another World along with John Carpenter's 1982 remake, The Thing. Hundreds of fans descended on the legendary movie palace that has been restored to its former glory thanks to many years of work by dedicated volunteers. I only attended the evening screening of the Carpenter movie, having never seen it before on the big screen. Suffice it to say, it was worth the effort. Contestants for Mr. Gay Netherlands
The kind folks at Mr. Gay Netherlands know me all too well and sent over the above picture of a pile of hot men who make up the 12 finalists this year. They include a Palestinian Muslim and an Israeli Jew according to the press release, so perhaps a peace accord can be hammered out? Final judging takes place August 6th, but while one of these guys may be the winner, I don't see any losers. Today's Briefs are very soccer-centric, so we'll get right to the news that soccer has officially come out as gay to TheOnion.com.
British goalie Joe Hart is adorable, and after Robert Green's oopsie over the weekend vs. USA, he's probably the new starter. He's also a gay icon according to the Daily Star.

Acclaimed director Ken Sawyer (The Woman in Black) brings his own vision (and additional scenes from Bram Stoker's original novel), to this adaptation which is a darker and sexier take on the legendary story; a tale of an evil ages old and yet forever new. Lucy Seward, whose mother is the doctor in charge of an English sanitorium, has been attacked by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing, a specialist, believes that the girl is the victim of a vampire, who is at last, found to be one Count Dracula - whose ghost is only able to be laid to rest in a particularly striking manner. Staring: Rob Arbogast as Dracula, Joe Hart as Van Helsing, Darcy Martin as Lucy, J.R. Mangels as Jonathan Harker, Alex Robert Holmes as Renfield, Karesa McElheny as Dr. Seward, Mara Marini as Min, Tahni Delong as the Maid and Chad Coe as the Attendant.
