How big will Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” be?
Continuing to forge ahead after its record-breaking opening gross last weekend, the live-action remake should outgross three new releases by about 150 percent. It’s unfair to judge any of the new titles against juggernaut “Beauty,” which has already amassed $206 million (unprecedented for pre-May) in its first five days domestic, $428 million worldwide. This weekend “Beauty and the Beast” looks to fall somewhere in the $80-100 million range and should hit a staggering $300 million in its first ten days.
This makes it hard for any newcomers to make much impact.

Lionsgate’s $100 million reboot of “Power Rangers” will easily outpace Sony’s latest outer space adventure “Life” as well as Warner Bros.’ remake of 1970s California Highway Patrol TV hit “Chips.”

FEARnet is proud to present brand new fiction from Nightmare Magazine. Once a month, we'll be featuring a story from Nightmare’s current issue. This month's selection is “Waiting for the Light” by Alison Littlewood. Please tell us what you think and enjoy!
Waiting for the Light

It had taken three days before the supervisor—“call me Marty”—asked Finn for the favour. He knew by the looks on the faces of the other staff—the little upturning of their heads that meant they were listening, but weren’t going to show it—that it wasn’t going to be a good favour.
“It’s nothing, really,” Marty said. “You just need to check the bridge before they close up. Alf’s supposed to do it, but he’s hurt his leg—we can’t expect him to do those stairs every night.” His tone said, they can...

…well, actually, there are a bunch of winners.
Looking at out server logs, we see that thousands of people have looked at the hundreds of nominated comics– we’ve counted over eighty thousand outgoing clicks over the last month, which we hope have turned into hundreds of new readers for each strip. We’ve gotten reports of lots of people discovering new webcomics, and creators have been telling us of traffic spikes as people do archive runs.
Then there’s the big winner of the contest, the Hero Initiative. Thanks to you, you’ve raised almost $4000 dollars for the organization. To give you an idea of the voting, here are the not quite complete funds raised for each webcomic:
A Redtail’s Dream Total $243.25
Ava’s Demon Total $525.00
Badnik Total $26.00
Bird Boy Total $25.00
Bittersweet Candy Bowl Total $1,075.00
Boumeries Total $3.00
Commander Kitty Total $171.00

Here we go again… it’s Round 4 of the Mix March Madness 2013 Webcomics Tournament!
Now… it starts to get brutal.
We’ve gone from over 300 webcomics down to the Sweet 16. We’ve raised over $750 for the Hero Initiative in this round alone, so far you’ve bought over $1500 in votes. Voting for this round lasts until 9Pm Edt on Wednesday, March 20, so get your votes in.
We’re now getting to the point where money is beginning to be a big influence in contests, with an additional 40% of votes purchased. It made the difference in a number of contests, making winners out of Grrl Power, Commander Kitty, Unsounded, Weregeek, and Bittersweet Candy Bowl.
But that was the last round– what are they going to do this time around? It’s all in your hands now!
Again, we’re letting you support your favorite strips by paying for additional votes, with your money going to charity.

Update: Round 3 of the Mix March Madness 2013 Webcomics Tournament has ended! We’re waiting for the final vote totals to come in from the Hero Initiative, and we’ll start up the Sweet 16 Round 4 on Monday, March 18! We started with over 300 webcomics, and we’re down to 32, while we’ve exposed thousands of people to new webcomics and raised over $750 for the Hero Initiative. Voting for this round lasts until 9Pm Edt on Saturday, March 16, so get your votes in. And now you can log in using Twitter to vote! We’ve had a few upsets this round– Dresden Codak was knocked out by Commander Kitty, but Doctor Cat couldn’t compete with Dr. McNinja. Update: Round 2 is closed. Go vote in Round 3! Round 2 of the Mix March Madness 2013 Webcomics Tournament starts now! Voting lasts until 9Pm Edt on Wednesday, March 13! Congratulations to everyone who made it through Round 1! We’re down to 64 webcomics, and we’ve raised almost $650 for the Hero Initiative. We’ve heard your concerns about using Opinion Stage to tally our votes; specifically about needing a Facebook ID to vote. Although you can still purchase as many votes as you like, we understand that some of you don’t have Facebook IDs or don’t want them. We’re working on adding other ways to log in, like Twitter IDs, while still keeping the spammers and script kiddies at bay, and if we come up with more useful solutions we’ll add them in subsequent rounds. Here are the updated brackets for the Bradbury, Kubert, Sendak, and Washington divisions. Go and vote!

Second, we’ve had $458.40 in bought votes, or an additional 4584 votes. Of particular note was a write in vote for Leftover Soup, donating $10 to the cause, although it wasn’t enough to get it into the final 128. Again,...

What about lost in the Valley driving a 12-passenger van at 5 a.m. filled with muscle-bound, spandex-wearing, American Gladiators named Zap, Thunder, Hawk and Ice heading for a press junket? Or working on the “VH1 Honors” and being told last minute that Prince no longer wants to be known by his (already fake) name, resulting in you having to replace his name on all the press materials with some new symbol? Courtney Stodden is as far from a shrinking violet as one can possibly be. The teen bride paraded around a pumpkin patch with just enough to keep from getting arrested. Then she went on TV to prove to a plastic surgeon and America that she's all natural.
Well, in her never ending attempt to get a reality show for her and her 51-year-old hubby Doug Hutchison, Stodden took some time to review her wardrobe choices with Fox News.
She says of her swimsuit collection, "I personally love bathing suits... anytime of the year - Rain, snow or shine! This specific swimsuit, to me, gives off a autumn/fall vibe. Bikinis are so much fun - You can mix & match, create & look great, no matter the season!"
The couple caused quite the hubbub earlier in the year when they married despite their 34-year age difference, not to mention that she was 16 at the time.

When I found out I’d be writing about Guts for our ongoing 90′s retrospectives series, the first question I asked my peers was “Would you have rather been on Guts or Legends of the Hidden Temple?” While there was still a fondness for Nickelodeon’s other sporting competition series, not to mention the ongoing heated debates about which team was best (It was the Purple Parrots, duh!), the answer was still, almost unanimously: Guts!
The reasoning behind this is quite simple, really. For as much fun as Legends looked, it was a game based solely on chance, rather than skill.

hollywoodnews.com: Former “Baywatch” star David Charvet wed long-time girlfriend Brooke Burke in St. Bart’s this weekend, culminating a five-year long engagement. The couple’s 4-year-old daughter, Rain, and 3-year-old son, Shaya, are the youngest of Burke’s children—daughters Sierra and Neriah were born under her previous marriage, to “Extreme Makeover” plastic surgeon Garth Fisher.
Burke is currently known for her role as host of “Dancing with the Stars,” but has hosted other shows such as the travel series “Wild On…” beginning in the late 1990s, in addition to working the red carpet for several Hollywood events. Charvet, who had a high profile during the “Baywatch” and “Melrose Place” years, dropped into relative obscurity until 2008, when he reappeared before a mainstream audience on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2008. However, by this time, the couple was already reportedly, together.

Congratulations are in order for Brooke Burke! The “Dancing With The Stars” co-host and longtime boyfriend David Charvet were reportedly married Friday in St. Barts, Life & Style reveals.
Burke began dating Charvet, who starred on “Baywatch” and the original “Melrose Place,” in 2005 and they were engaged in 2006.
The couple has two children together: Rain, 4, and Shaya, 3. Burke also has two children, Neriah, 11, and Sierra, 9, with ex-husband Garth Fisher.
The “Dancing With The Stars” Season 7 winner revealed in Redbook’s July 2011 issue that while their family keeps her more than busy, she and Charvet try to make time for themselves too.
"David and I make sure to escape once a week. So maybe on a Sunday night, we'll go out to dinner at a favorite Malibu restaurant. Or at home we get the candles, the music — the whole deal — and we close the bedroom door. We have a rule in our...

It's been rumored about for months but Fox today finally confirmed that the Glee cast will indeed be touring live this May. How psyched are you, Gleeks?! And it appears that there will sadly be no Matthew Morrison or Jane Lynch. It all sort of reminds me of Sesame Street Live!—did anyone else go to that as a kid? I have very fond memories. Whether you regard American Gladiators as a positive or negative piece of televised American history, it’s fair to say that the show evolved favorably with every season; keeping the best challenges and ditching the weakest in favor of new ones. The original series boasted itself as a proving ground for the up and coming athletes of its time. The commentators take great pride in talking up the individuals who appear (as did every iteration of American Gladiator), but at this early stage there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that American Gladiators is a legitimate arena to prove one’s athletic mettle. I’d like to think that now we know this isn’t quite the case – and if the newest, short-lived incarnation of American Gladiators is any indication, we’re still quite aware of the show’s sole value to American culture: pure entertainment.
