      Now semi-retired, Huang moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1997, where she taught Chinese language and culture at the University of New Mexico, and served as International Programs Director. She also founded both the nonprofit Taos International Society and her own Ru Yi Studio of Multicultural Arts, where she still teaches.
