This article contains mild plot spoilers for George Miller’s Furiosa!
Director George Miller is continuing the Mad Max franchise with the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which is set to reach theatres on May 24th – and with that date just over a month away, the film got some promotion during the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and George Miller took the stage during the Warner Bros. panel. Miller told the eager CinemaCon crowd that Furiosa takes place over 18 years, whereas Fury Road’s story lasted three days. Miller then quipped that if the apocalypse actually happened, Anya would be the one he’d want to hang out with as she has the rigor and commitment.
Speaking about Hemsworth, Miller said he couldn’t think of anyone to play Dementus, and he’d had the script for a long time.

If imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, then Lucid Dream Studios’s Biomorph is extremely flattering. Visually, the game is above reproach, as its cartoonish art style potently captures the strikingly different biomes of Ilios and the freakish ways in which the processing of oil-like ferrox has mutated the planet’s life. But beneath that surface, the game’s nonlinear structure is both mechanically unbalanced and narratively confusing. Ultimately, protagonist Harlo’s ability to harvest the genetic data of his enemies and transform into them at will is more of a novelty than a transformative take on the 2D Metroidvania.
At its best, Biomorph is a fun mashup of Mega Man and Kirby, with Harlo able to equip three different technological attacks and morph into a customizable set of three (of an unlockable 21) creatures. These animals are varied in appearance and, for the most part, functionality, like the spring-jumping Spyrux or dust-warping Sorios.

When director George Miller needed to fill the role of Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road, he turned to actor Hugh Keays-Byrne, who had previously played the villainous Toecutter in the original Mad Max. Sadly, Keays-Byrne passed away in 2020, before Miller could get the prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga into production – so in this movie, which is set to reach theatres on May 24, the role of Immortan Joe is being played by Lachy Hulme. Hulme’s casting in the role was confirmed by Empire, and they also scored a great quote from Hulme about the scope of the film. He told them Furiosa is “David Lean, but with motorbikes instead of camels. When you see 4,000 custom-made motorbikes come over a hill, you shit your pants.“
Hulme pulls double duty in the Furiosa, as he also plays a character called Rizzdale Pell, who is “one of the gang members...

This summer’s Furiosa, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, has a story that spans 15 years, leading directly into Mad Max: Fury Road, says George Miller.
Given the truly awe-inspiring crashes and bangs director George Miller splashed across the screen in his pop-art masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road, it’s hardly surprising that his prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is among our most anticipated films of 2024.
In a new cover feature in the latest Empire magazine, Miller has contrasted his latest post-apocalyptic opus with 2015’s Fury Road. Where Fury Road took place over three days, Miller explained, Furiosa will span 15 years, following the earlier years of Furiosa.
“Fury Road, the story unfolds over three days and two nights,” Miller told Empire (which comes to us via World of Reel). “This film [Furiosa] follows the story that runs directly into Fury Road, for 15 years. It’s a different animal. It’s got many different locations.

Nine years after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road, the Mad Max franchise will be getting a new entry with the May 24, 2024 theatrical release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – a film which isn’t about the Mad Max character, but is actually a Fury Road prequel that focuses on the Furiosa character, who was played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road and is now played by Anya Taylor-Joy. We’ve heard some positive test screening reactions and earlier this week we saw a new image of Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus. Now Empire has unveiled a new image of Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, and you can check that out at the bottom of this article.

Those who don’t follow professional wrestling may not appreciate just how tough and grueling it is. It isn’t enough to be on the road 200+ days a year, getting dropped on your head or your back every night, dealing with injuries, losing your spot on the roster, and worse. If you’ve seen films like The Iron Claw, The Wrestler, or the old Beyond the Mat documentary, you know that professional wrestling is grind like no other.
But the other aspect that goes underappreciated is how much wrestling relies on acting. If you have any hope of making it big, it isn’t enough to be able to do a tope suicida or Texas Cloverleaf on the way to a 5-star mat classic. You have to be able to act your role, day in and day out. Often, you have to act live, in front of an audience of thousands,...

In 2015, George Miller punched all of our faces in with the jaw-dropping action spectacle "Mad Max: Fury Road." Essentially a feature-length chase scene, "Fury Road" took the "Mad Max" franchise — and action movies in general — to new heights. And while Tom Hardy's take on the Road Warrior was memorable, the film ultimately didn't belong to him. Instead, it was Imperator Furiosa, as played by Charlize Theron, who really stole the show. During the long production of "Fury Road," Miller and company came up with enough backstory for Furiosa to fill an entirely different movie. And now that movie is a reality. "Furiosa" will serve as a prequel to "Fury Road," taking us along for another high-octane journey of blood and chrome. And you can now watch the highly anticipated first trailer for the film above, and don't forget to check out the beautiful motion poster.

Nintendo in the mid-to-late 80s sure was something to behold. It’s probably the closest thing the video game industry had to a monopoly. Sure, the Sega Master System was around and Atari was still on life support, but the Nintendo Entertainment System was absolutely dominant in society. We didn’t even call it “the Nes.” It was just “Nintendo.” For many, “playing video games” was “playing Nintendo.”
Nintendo’s major market share led to some interesting marketing experiments. Captain N: The Game Master was an animated series that not only advertised different games as part of its lore, but even included third-party game heroes like Simon Belmont and Mega Man as supporting characters. Then there’s The Wizard: an attempt to promote the upcoming Super Mario Bros. 3 via a bizarre family film version of Rain Man that included the questionable choice of casting Christian Slater and doing nothing with him.

Washington, July 4 (Ians) NASA has sealed four participants to embark on the agency’s first one-year analogue mission in a habitat to simulate living on Mars.
Chapea, or Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog, is a ground-based mission at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The mission is the first of three planned one-year Mars surface simulations, during which crew members will live and work in a 3D-printed, 1,700-square-foot habitat called Mars Dune Alpha for an year.
The four-member crew include biologist Kelly Haston, Ross Brockwell, who is a structural engineer, Nathan Jones, a physician, and Anca Selariu, a Navy microbiologist.
During the simulation, crew members will carry out different types of mission activities, including simulated spacewalks, robotic operations, habitat maintenance, personal hygiene, exercise, and crop growth. To be as Mars-realistic as feasible, the crew also will face environmental stressors such as resource limitations, isolation, and equipment failure.

Talk about George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, is making the rounds again after Nicholas Hoult spoke with Comicbook.com about whether or not his War Boy character, Nux, appears in the film. According to Hoult, who talked with Comicbook.com at the Renfield premiere, fans won’t witness him in Miller’s new epic. When asked to elaborate on his absence, Hoult gave a straightforward answer that would make sense to anyone familiar with time.
While Nux is dead in the present, fans hoped his character would somehow return for Imperator Furiosa’s early days. It’s a nice thought, but according to Hoult, it won’t happen. Simply put, the time frame for Furiosa does not align with Nux and his devotion toward Immortan Joe. “I knew going into Fury Road, I knew all of Nux’s life up until the moment we meet him in that film,...

Some superhero stories truly glide on the idea of a hero’s redemption. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we have seen characters like Tony Stark, Stephen Strange, Natasha Romanoff, and Gamora make up for their past sins via heroism. A viewer’s love for a great redemption story occasionally mixes itself with the concept of a villain so likable that you no longer want to root against them.
There have been many villains in the MCU and a good chunk of them have changed their ways for the better over time. A good face-turn could always get the blood pumping. We’ve decided to rank the best ones.
First some ground rules: this list is based on villains or at least antagonists. Yes, Tony Stark was a dick and was responsible for countless deaths, but he has always been portrayed as the good guy. Similarly,...

London, Jan 16 (Ians) Arsenal strengthened their grip on the Premier League with a 2-0 win away to North London rivals Tottenham.
Arsenal’s win, coupled with the result of the Manchester derby, puts Mikel Arteta’s side eight points clear of Manchester City and nine ahead of Newcastle and Manchester United, reports Xinhua news agency.
The game was only 13 minutes on when Hugo Lloris put Arsenal ahead with the first own goal of his career after he palmed Bukayo Saka’s deflected effort from a narrow-angle into his own net.
Martin Odegaard doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 36th minute, placing a perfect left foot shot wide of Lloris after another surging run from Saka.
Tottenham tried to get back on level terms after the break, but with Aaron Ramsdale in excellent form, Arsenal were generally comfortable and results elsewhere mean Spurs’ top-four hopes have suffered an important setback.

London, Jan 15 (Ians) Marcos Rashford’s 16th goal of the season sealed Manchester United’s comeback to beat local rivals Manchester City 2-1 and put them firmly in the race for the Premier League title, just a point behind their neighbors.
Rashford poked the winning goal home in the 82nd minute following a low cross from the right to seal the win, just four minutes after Bruno Fernandes had canceled out Jack Grealish’s looping header, which had given City a 60th-minute lead, reports Xinhua news agency.
Fernandes’ goal was surrounded by controversy as Rashford, who was in a clear offside position had run alongside the ball, before the Portuguese latched onto it, but the goal was given after the Var decided he had not interfered with play.
Solly March scored twice and Danny Welbeck added a third as Brighton beat Liverpool 3-0 to move above their rivals into seventh in the table.

London, Jan 6 (Ians) The third round of the Fa Cup in England will allow some coaches to give minutes to fringe players against lower-league opposition. But Everton coach Frank Lampard has no such luxury, as his side dropped into the bottom three in midweek after a dreadful 4-1 home loss to Brighton.
Everton visit a consistently-improving Manchester United, and another defeat for Lampard’s men could see his tenure at Goodison Park come to an end after just under a year.
Liverpool could hand a debut to new signing Cody Gakpo when they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers. The visitors are showing signs of recovery under Julen Lopetegui and will look to take advantage of Virgil Van Dijk’s absence with a muscle injury.

London, Jan 2 (Ians) The Premier League’s hectic schedule continues this week, with another round of matches ahead of the Fa Cup at the weekend. The standout game of the week is on Tuesday night and sees league leaders Arsenal take on third-placed Newcastle United.
Arsenal have shown no ill effects from the World Cup break or the injury to Gabriel Jesus, winning their first two games of the holiday period with some impressive football and a win would take them 10 points clear of Manchester City, who visit Chelsea on Thursday night.
Leeds United held on to end Newcastle’s six-game winning streak, but Eddie Howe’s men have just one defeat all season and will be optimistic about taking something from their visit to the Emirates Stadium.

London, Nov 11 (Ians) The last round of Premier League matches before the World Cup is to be played this weekend and will make England coach Gareth Southgate nervous while leaving some coaches with a selection dilemma.
With just a week before the World Cup kicks off, any injury picked up this weekend, will mean missing out on the tournament, and Southgate will be hoping none of the 26 players he named in his squad on Thursday suffer any setbacks.
Meanwhile, some coaches might consider leaving out some of their internationals to save them from the risk of missing out on one of the highlights of their careers.
Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, will have no such dilemma about striker Erling Haaland for his side’s home game against Brentford. The Norwegian won’t be going to Qatar, but has recovered from his foot injury and will lead the City attack.

In real life, there would probably be no shortage of people willing to commit crimes if it resulted in being given free reign to wander around a minimum-security prison and receive psychedelic drugs administered by Chris Hemsworth. So it’s not too much of a stretch to go along with the imaginative premise of Netflix’s new, nearly unclassifiable film starring the MCU veteran along with Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett.
Based on a short story by George Saunders, Joseph Kosinski’s Spiderhead could be categorized as sci-fi, except its central conceit isn’t all that far removed from our “better living through chemistry” reality. It’s a thriller at times, but also a wickedly funny dark comedy. And it features a nostalgia-inducing yacht rock soundtrack that slyly comments on the action.

Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa, a hardened war captain who rebels against the tyrannical Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) to free his women captives alongside Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), is a large part of what made 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” a blockbuster juggernaut — now considered among viewers and critics alike to be one of the best action films of all time. She made her debut in the fourth installment of George Miller’s widely celebrated franchise, which began in 1979 with Mel Gibson starring in the title role.
Warner Bros.
While the Oscar-winning movie offered some insight into Furiosa’s backstory, including her remembrances of the “Green Place” — an idyllic location from her childhood that predates the current post-apocalyptic wasteland — her self-titled film will uncover her origin story in depth. “Furiosa” will follow the badass heroine prior to her captaining days, serving as a prequel to “Fury Road,” with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the lead role.

Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you have not seen “Mortal Kombat,” available now in theaters and on HBO Max.
Director Simon McQuoid’s “Mortal Kombat” builds the groundwork for what could be a gory action franchise, and star Joe Taslim already told Variety that he’s signed up for four more movies if Warner Bros. decides to go ahead with additional installments.
The movie features several threads that could be explored in further films, “joiner pieces” that McQuoid intentionally added. The most obvious comes in the film’s final frame, which shows a movie poster for fictional Hollywood superstar and iconic “Mortal Kombat” video game character Johnny Cage. Protagonist Cole Young (Lewis Tan) remarks that he’s off to Los Angeles in search of more Mortal Kombat fighters, directly setting up a possible sequel.

Warner Bros. and director Simon McQuoid pull off a daring, high-wire balancing act with their big screen take on Mortal Kombat. That is to say, it’s incredibly difficult to make a good, entertaining movie that stands on its own while at the same time remains faithful to source material with a rich, extensive history and passionate fanbase. Plus, it’s a video game movie.
Yet 2021’s Mortal Kombat is both a loving homage to the blood-soaked arcade classics that started it all and a savage, devilishly fun martial arts flick. The film is actually so effective in the latter regard that it transcends the “video game movie” category completely and should in all likelihood attract an audience of people who have never even played the games. McQuoid takes the complex canon and iconic characters from the games and presents them in a way that respects the original designs to...

The recently released Tiger Shroff starrer A Flying has impressed children and how! Theatres saw a great turnout of kids with their parents in tow. The beaming smiles on the faces of these young ones could be seen by all!
“The kind of hype that the film had started to generate, especially during the last few days, pretty much warranted that it arrived a day before Friday itself. Moreover, its release on a festival like Janamashtmi was apt as well. Other than the religious significance that it carries, it was also the good time to target kids. Most of the schools were off on Thursday which means the day was just apt for this Remo D’Souza directed film to begin making an early impression,” says an industry insider.
The plan has worked for these tiny tots as they have found Tiger Shroff extremely adorable in his getup of a desi yet quirky superhero.
