Shahid Kapoor turned down Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "Chitthiyan". It was to be based on Vidhu's love story with his wife Renu Saluja. Renu went on to marry Vidhu's best friend Sudhir Mishra, which caused tension between the former best friends. Ranbir Kapoor was also offered the film but he turned it down. Finally Sharman Joshi and Humaima Malick signed the film. The project ended up being shelved.
