It is an American pop culture tradition that dates back to the 1950s – the TV horror movie host. Producer/actor, Bo Keister, is taking it to the digital age with Hillbilly Horror Show, a new twist on the old concept. Plus we circle back to AMC’s Halt And Catch Fire to talk to Kerry Bische (Donna) about where the new season finds her character.

Hillbilly Horror Show is an anthology series hosted by a trio of redneck characters: crass country boy Bo (Bo Keister), mumbling Cephus (Scott Geiter) and of course, their “kissing cousin” Lulu (Rachel Faulkner). In each one-hour installment, the men guzzle tall boys of generic beer and comment on short horror films by up-and-coming filmmakers while Lulu models an extensive collection of bikinis. Why the films must be presented by hillbillies is something that is never really apparent, though some of the films do have a somewhat sinister country bent. Unless you’re a big fan of Larry the Cable Guy-esque jokes, the humor is generally not clever enough to justify the gimmick.

Indican Pictures will release horror comedy The Cabining on January 16th, 2015. Richard Riehle, Angela Relucio, Bo Keister and Melissa Mars star.
Todd and Bruce, two struggling writers, get one last shot at success thanks to Todd's wealthy uncle, Sarge, who gives them two weeks to impress him. With the deadline looming and no fresh ideas, the pair head to Shangri-La, a serene artist's retreat, with the hope that the peace and company of fellow artists will inspire greatness... or, failing greatness, at least a fling with a leggy French sculptor.

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by Lakeview Pictures. Director: Steve Kopera. Writers: Mike Kopera, Steve Kopera and David Silverman. Cast: Mike Kopera, Bo Keister, Angela Relucio and Melissa Mars. The Cabining is an indie slasher film and mystery from first time feature film director Steve Kopera. The Cabining is a small production and occasionally a simple one, but the film offers some charm in its eighty-three minutes. The film begins with the characters Todd (Mike Kopera) and Bruce (Bo Keister). These two are putting together a script, for an upcoming horror feature. They have two weeks to get the words on paper. So, they seek out a writing retreat called Shangri-La. At this new setting, Todd and Bruce meet some fellow writers,...

We return with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. This week’s feature includes a trailer for The Cabining, details on All Hallows’ Eve, and much more:
The Cabining: “Todd and Bruce, a hapless screenwriting team, get one last shot at success thanks to Todd’s wealthy stepdad, Serge. If they pen a worthy horror script, Serge will fund the entire project. But there is one condition – the script must be complete in two weeks. With the deadline looming and no fresh ideas, Todd and Bruce head to Shangri-La, a serene artist’s retreat, with the hope that the peace and company of fellow artists will inspire greatness… or, failing greatness, at least enough for straight-to-dvd. Shangri-La proves to be anything but serene, as the artists die off one by one, seemingly by accident. Bruce convinces Todd to soak in this...

Some things have changed -- for one, he can no longer smoke in Patrick’s (Lance E. Nichols) restaurant because City Hall has taken to telling businesses what to do. (Ah, once again, smoking is used to represent individual freedom.) One thing has not changed, people have not forgotten what they believe Jacob did ten years ago; as Jacob explains, this is a place where “rumors are truths, accusations are facts.” Heck, even his own mother (Cindy Hogan) believes that he is guilty. Whatever horrible and unforgettable thing Jacob did ten years ago,...
