He is an industrialist and a businessman par excellence and has demonstrated ability in running various businesses, among them Film Production and Granites. He was nominated and elected in the year 1998 as Member of Parliament to the Lokh Sabha in Kakinada, and again from Narasapuram in the year 1999. In the year 2001, he was made the Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, and in the year 2004, for Minister of State for Defense and then Minister of State for Rural Development.
