Stars: Jennifer Field, Andy Lauer, Brett Hargrave, Daniel Grogan, Joey Lawrence, Addison Bowman, Rib Hillis | Written by Anthony C. Ferrante | Directed by Jared Cohn
It was bound to happen. Netflix started making and showing original movies, then Amazon, and then Tubi followed suit with Swim. But as Tubi is not a thing here in the UK (thanks Gdpr) we’ve instead had to wait almost two years for the film to hit Blighty. However, don’t get too excited. Given their budget and “free with commercials” format of its source, this isn’t The Irishman or The Tomorrow War. This shark in the house film was made by The Asylum and their frequent director Jared Cohn from a script by Anthony C. Ferrante… so don’t expect Jaws either!
The Samson family Lacey, her father Noah, and kids Charlotte (Brett Hargrave; Weedjies: Halloweed Night) and Tucker (Daniel Grogan) are renting a beach house.

Screaming, flying ‘Autonomous Mobile Swords’ have decimated the enemy in a war on a far-off planet, but now the pesky smart weapons are self-evolving into ever more cruel and deadly new iterations. Peter Weller and Jennifer Rubin head a cast of desperate soldiers in this adaptation of an early story by Philip K. Dick — that perhaps addresses an aspect of the arms race? The show remains a cult favorite of fans of violent sci-fi adventures. Disc extras interview the filmmakers on Screamers’ decade-long path to the screen.

Award winning filmmaker Joe Wilson brings us Vampire Mob, an indie web series showcasing a hitman vampire forced to live with his mother-in-law, for eternity. The series is completely independent, getting its money strictly through audience donations; they raised over $10,000 in order to create their story.
“After losing all our money on Kickstarter, we raised the budget of $10,000 on our own site and got to make a story – no network, no company, no FCC, no sponsor – nothing to fuck it up! Just people helping people tell a story. We shot an 80-page script with 23 actors, and I’ve never worked harder making a project happen than this one! We also worked with fight choreographers Jan Bryant and Dan Speaker, who have worked on Hook, Master and Commander, and Army of Darkness.”
Among the cast members in the show are Emmy winning actress Marcia Wallace (The Simpsons) and Tony winner Rae Allen...

It was back in the summer of 2010 that we first reported on Joe Wilson's web series Vampire Mob, and now we've heard from Joe that Season Two has begun with six episodes already available, including “Dinner for Six” with cast members Kirsten Vangsness ("Criminal Minds"), Emmy winner Marcia Wallace ("The Simpsons") and Tony winner Rae Allen ("The Sopranos").
The road hasn't always been a smooth one for writer/director/editor Wilson, who told us, "After losing all our money on Kickstarter, we raised the budget of $10,000 on our own site and got to make a story - no network, no company, no FCC, no sponsor - nothing to fuck it up! Andy Lauer at IndieWire did a very interesting article and there is one piece of it in particular that caught my eye and made me laugh. Ted Mundorff who is the CEO of LandMark Theaters has made a bold statement about the irrelevance of online film critics and I think he is dead wrong. According to him the Local Print Critic is the most important critic because without them tickets wont get sold. He also goes on to say some things about those of us who write online; “We’re scared to death that critics have gone away. Wire services don’t cut it. Those reviews, the aggregato...
