Jason grew up in Southern California's Santa Clarita Valley. He has always been comfortable performing, starting from second grade when he landed the lead in for his school's Christmas pageant; however, it wasn't until his freshman year at Village Christian High School (a few years behind Paul Walker), when he was given the role of Father Gomez in their production of, 'Lillies of the Field', that he realized he truly loved acting. His junior year, he would change schools, attending Hart High School in Santa Clarita. And it was there his drama teacher, David Sprague, helped him believe he could make a career out of his talent. His senior year was 1994, and because of the Northridge quake, the auditorium was damaged at Hart High, forcing the students to use one of their backyards to put on the spring production, which Jason was also able to direct part of alongside his teacher. After graduating, he attended College of the Canyons for two and half years before transferring to Biola University, where he studied theatre under Professor Barry Cavin (now at Florida Gulf Coast University). And under Professor Cavin's guidance, studied classical and modern acting techniques, giving Jason a multifaceted approach to his craft. Jason also studied Radio, TV and Film, and in 1999 graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Theatre. He immediately immersed himself in auditioning, background work, and started performing as Chico Marx of the Marx Brothers at Universal Studios. During the next few years, Jason worked in many local and regional theaters performing with such groups as the acclaimed Interact Theatre Company. There he was part of the Ovation award winning cast of 'Urinetown' with John Rubinstein; and later, starred in a production of 'Guys and Dolls' (directed by famous character actor Daniel Roebuck) in the titular role of Nathan Detroit, at the beloved Glendale Centre Theatre.
His voice acting career started when he was discovered by Jeffrey Katzenberg in 2004, while voicing the Donkey puppet for Universal Studios. After hearing Jason perform at a corporate gig, Katzenberg personally invited Jason to audition to be a voice match for Eddie Murphy and was ultimately hired to voice the scratch track for and early draft of Shrek 3. He brought the gig to Wes Stevens at Vox, and signed several months later after booking a pilot, 'Duck on a Bike' for Disney Jr.
Since then, Jason has made an ongoing career of voicing iconic animated characters for film, television and interactive content. He is the commercial voice of 'Rex the Dinosaur' and Bill Hader's match for 'Fear' both for the Infinity 3.0 video game and the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind ride at California Adventure. Recently, Jason was the DJ you could hear before 'Rogers: The Musical'.
In recent years, Jason has also been able to parlay his 25+ years working in location-based entertainment and theme parks to act as a creative consultant for various attractions at Universal Beijing, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Disney World. Most recently, he served as consultant and Jack Black voice match for the development of the state-of-the-art Interactve show featuring Po at Universal Beijing.
He is represented by Wes Stevens at Vox for voice over, Jodi Fleisher at Firestarter Entertainment for Commercial, and Lynn at Stars Talent in Salt Lake City.
Jason lives with his wife, actress Annie Victoria Lewis (formerly Ramsey), and his three children Marigold, Kenaniah, Jesiah and Lavender.
