- Torun Lian was born on January 15, 1956. She is a writer and director, known for The Color of Milk (2004), Only Clouds Move the Stars (1998) and Frida: Straight from the Heart (1991).
- In 1993 she had finished the manuscript for her book "Bare skyer beveger stjernene" about a family who looses their son to cancer. Tragically in 1995 Torun Lian herself lost her only son, Mathias, in a car accident. A year later she started planning the filming of her own book, eventually making her directorial debut with the film "Bare skyer beveger stjernene" (1998) and ending up winning the Ingmar Bergman Award in Sweden (the first Norwegian to do so).
- Appointed film consultant for the Norwegian Film Fund as of September 2004.
