A Washington State woman allegedly admitted to strangling her 9-year-old son to death on Halloween after “praying” about doing so.
Amber Lynn James, 47, is being charged with second-degree murder after the death of her son, Ryan Rosales, in what authorities as “obvious homicidal violence,” according to Kcpq.
In court documents obtained by Kcpq, James allegedly asked a deputy after her arrest, “How do I explain to someone why I just f—ing killed my kid? What is a good explanation of that? I killed my f—ing kid.”
The news outlet reported that Ryan was found dead in his home early Tuesday.

Short of the DayWhen the figments of a child’s imagination aren’t imaginary.
I’m not much of a fantasy fan, but even I was beguiled by this selection for Short of the Day, Goblin Queen, written and directed by Reed Shusterman. Think of it like a darker Narnia movie but from the perspective of a parent stuck here in the real world. That’s the situation in which Winona (Stacey Mosley, The Muppets, Swan’s Crossing) finds herself when her daughter Amber Lynn (Amy Letcher, Black Sails) is revealed to be the ruler of a magical land in another dimension. Amber Lynn keeps leaping back and forth between realms, and as you might expect, while making one of these transitions home, she’s followed by a most-inhospitable goblin.
Goblin Queen is concise and direct, it knows exactly what it is and what we expect from it and starts delivering as promptly as a good narrative...

"Goblin Queen" is a fantastic and fun fantasy short film the tells the story of an overbearing mother who struggles to parent her daughter, Amber Lynn. Her mother becomes frustrated with the fact that Amber keeps disappearing. What she doesn't know is that her daughter travels to a parallel dimension where she rules a magical kingdom and is leading them into battle. "But when a dangerous creature follows Amber Lynn home, her mother must confront the reality of who her daughter has become." This is a solid short that actually has some impressive production value. It was directed by Reed Shusterman, and if you're into the fantasy genre, it's definitely something worth checking out. ...

Here we go again! It’s the second live show of America’s Got Talent! Which acts will improve upon their performances and earn themselves a spot in the semi-finals? Speaking of live shows, Ryan and Amber Lynn’s act went badly wrong when Amber shot a flaming arrow at Ryan and missed. The good news is that Ryan is okay, the bad news is that they may not make it to the semi-finals. Moya Angela’s performance was good, but she didn’t let out her full voice when singing the song. I agreed with Simon when he said that Moya should let go

This installment of American Idol is a special, supersized, two-hour audition episode, because the best thing to do with the part of the show where nothing really happens is … supersize it? All night, we ping-pong back and forth between Little Rock and Denver, the auditoriums and the audition rooms, Bearded Ryan and Ryan Classic. The continuity is all over the place, but wherever and whenever we are, Jennifer Lopez is taking a careful selfie or having a FaceTime conversation with someone who doesn't want her to talk. Maybe smizing over a Wi-Fi connection is her version of singing a lullaby to her twins? It'd work on me.Our first young hopefuls are a pair of hipsters from Provo, Utah, named Amber Lynn and James VIII. (Yes, those are Roman numerals.) They drove in together, and they're good ol' pals in that When Harry Met Sally… kind of way, except you...

Thursday night we find ourselves rolling back into Denver and Little Rock for more audition fun. We are given more memorable moments from previous seasons, with a “Pants on the Ground” flashback. The unofficial anthem of American Idol… still just as catchy this day as it was back then. First up, we meet a couple of friends from Provo, Utah, who have decided to audition together. Amber Lynne, 28, is first to audition, while her friend Mark VIII (aka Mark the 8th for anyone who isn’t Roman) plays guitar. Jennifer believes she has “a lot of soul.” Number Eight is

The sexy actors are getting together to raise money to fight Los Angeles County Measure B, which would force performers to use condoms on set.
Adult star Amber Lynn (photo above) and rocker/sex toy expert/"sex stand-up comedian" Phil Varone will be there, among other adult industry folk, according to XBiz's adult industry newswire.
There will also be bingo and naughty gift baskets.
The shindig is Monday at 8 p.m. at Hamburger Mary's Bar & Grill in West Hollywood. Door admission is $20.
The push for condoms in porn is led by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, which says that STDs in the industry are a public health concern and that actors' safety is not being respected. Some porn actors, particularly those who have contracted HIV on set, agree.

I’m taking a college course in literary theory right now, and I must confess that it is one of the most fascinating courses I’ve ever experienced. While I can’t say right now if it will dramatically impact my journalism style, but I can say it will probably change the small things about me that define my humanity. Right now we are examining trauma theory, and I can say without missing that trauma theory applies to the little-known 1989 Canadian film known as Things. Things is indicative of some kind of horrible event in the past of the directors. It is something that has made them go beyond the barriers of our feeble humanity. It cannot be grasped nor explained by sane and rational minds. I have hoped to make a career out of grasping that which is outside the cosmic scope of how we view the universe. I...

Having recently plowed through Intervision’s first release, the obscure 80′s shot-on-video horror flick “Sledgehammer”, I’m pretty much down for whatever the company has to offer. The good people at Intervision Picture Corporation have announced two unique DVD releases scheduled for July 12th, one a twisted little piece of filmmaking from our neighbors to the north and the other based on a famous serial killer.
First up is Things, the 1989 Canadian gorefest starring Amber Lynn and Barry J. Gillis. Things will be resurrected from its VHS roots and reborn on DVD dripping with over four hours of special features for you to sink your teeth into.
And speaking of sinking teeth, also being released on July 12th is The Secret Life: Jeffrey Dahmer, an accurate retelling of the serial killer's gruesome true life tale. This 1993 film is directed by David R. Bowen and stars Carl Crew, who appeared in the 80's cult film Blood Diner.

[Editor's note: In light of the release of Jason Eisner's Hobo with a Shotgun, we thought we'd ask the world's leading expert on Canadian exploitation cinema and Managing Editor of Canuxploitation, Paul Corupe, to share his five favourite and most outrageous Canadian expoitation films]
The Canadian film industry has a dirty little secret. For every critically lauded drama by celebrated auteurs, dozens of unacknowledged low-budget horror, science fiction, sexploitation, action and lowbrow comedy films lurk just below the surface. Although many of these “Canuxploitation” films appeared during the 1970s and '80s, when generous tax laws helped nurture the budding careers of directors like David Cronenberg, Bob Clark and Ivan Reitman, Canada's rich history of exploitation films stretches from almost the very beginning of moving pictures.
Our most recent entry, Jason Eisner's Hobo with a Shotgun, has been earning positive reviews due to its gleeful devotion to exploitation carnage, it's only the tip of the ice floe when it comes to the dark side of Canada's film industry.
