He loved Only Fools and Horses (1981) and the people in it and became quite emotional about his attachment to everyone. Although his character wasn't especially big, he was utterly committed to it because he just thought it was one of the funniest shows ever and he wanted to be a part of it.
Died of a sudden heart-attack whilst on vacation with his family in
Hawaii.
Is buried in Teddington cemetery in Twickenham, S.W. London. The headstone features the twin masks of Comedy and Tragedy-the symbols of the acting profession.
Voted the runner up in a poll to decide who was TV's best
pint-puller, coming behind Julie Goodyear, who played barmaid Bet Lynch in
