Jim Wiseman’s Sky original documentary “Williams and Mansell: Red 5” is set for a debut on Sky Documentaries and Now on July 8. Featuring some of the biggest names in F1, it follows Nigel Mansell and the Williams Racing team’s rise to fame told through the eyes of his team, family and drivers including Jenson Button, Damon Hill and Karun Chandhok.
Mansell grew up in England in the 1960s, dreaming of becoming a professional race car driver, despite not having the financial means for it, while Frank Williams was realizing his own dream at the company he founded, Williams Grand Prix Engineering. The two joined forces, and after years of trying to win together, Mansell left to join Ferrari and then ultimately retired from racing after years of ups and downs, without ever winning the Formula One Drivers’ Championship. But seemingly overnight, he came out of retirement and re-joined Williams Racing.

Abu Dhabi, Jan 14 (Ians) Francesco Molinari, at 40, a three-time member of winning Ryder Cup teams, gave his young teammate, Nicolai Hojgaard, 21, a first-hand exhibition of team play as they won both their matches on the second day of the Hero Cup.
Combined with the half point they got from the first day, they stay unbeaten after two days two and a half points out of three.
The morning session was tied with both teams taking two and a half points each and in the afternoon it was still even till Robert MacIntyre, who had so far not lost a match, and Seamus Power lost 2&1 against the French-Italian pairing of Victor Perez and Guido Migliozzi.
That gave Continental Europe a 3-2 win in the session and took the total score to eight and a half against the six and a half points for Gb & I with 10 singles coming up on Sunday.

So here’s the plot of Four Weddings and a Funeral as I imagine it. Hugh Grant, playing a home counties type called Archie who has replanted himself in the buzzing metropolis of London and is a lawyer or a banker or a lawyer for a bank, goes to the wedding of an old Oxbridge pal. He’s smiling, trying awfully hard to be polite, but he’s bored and notices a woman joking during the service. After nipping off for a piss during the reception he catches a glimpse of his zip. 1: Life on the Limit may be a veritable who's who of Formula 1 - featuring contributions from world drivers' champions such as John Surtees, Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher, Jody Scheckter, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel to name but a few - but it's really the story of two men, Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley.
It's easy to be cynical about both Bernie and Max - particularly when you think about some of the things they've hit headlines for away from the track. But 1 - which uses the tension between speed and safety as its angle - sheds light on their determination to improve safety that some younger followers of motorsport - this writer included - may not have fully appreciated. Geez, these F1 2013 videos are coming on fast and furious (haha, cars!). In the most recent trailer for the upcoming racing sim from Codemasters, the focus is placed on the seemingly very important Ferrari 312 T2. I’m not intimately familiar with it or anything, but that doesn’t change the fact that it looks incredibly sexy coming around the bend at the beginning of this video.
Aside from slow motion car porn, the trailer is essentially a promo for the game’s new Classic Edition. In that version, you’ll be able to race famous cars, drivers, and circuits from various eras of F1 history. My knowledge on that is a bit stiff, but I imagine F1 junkies will really get a kick out of it. Other sports games have been doing this kind of thing for years, so it’s definitely a good move on Codemasters’ end.

I’m not enough of a Formula One junkie to instantly start drooling/sweating/other bodily function at the mention of a 1988 Ferrari F1-87/88C, but that doesn’t mean I’m not enough of a general geek for those things to start happening once I actually see a picture.
The car, which is shown above, is quite beautiful and so, I suppose it should be considered good news then that this very vehicle will be included in this year’s edition of Codemasters’ yearly F1 simulator, F1 2013.
The rest of the jargon is kind of lost on me, but I’m sure anyone more familiar with the series or the sport will eat this up. So for those folks, be sure to check out the press release below. The trailer below is both awesomely and comically dramatic, so that’s something as well.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton returns to Top Gear this week and wants to claim the Reasonably Priced Car lap time crown.
Last time Hamilton appeared on the show in December 2007, the sports star took the Suzuki Liana around the show's race course in 1:44.7.
However, Hamilton was hampered by wet weather and was unable to match the times of fellow F1 stars Nigel Mansell (1:44.6), Rubens Barrichello (1:44.3) and Sebastian Vettel (1:44.0).
Other features on this week's show include Jeremy Clarkson taking the new Kia Cee'd for a road test involving eels, curry, a rock legend, an American cop and a game of rugby involving James May, while Richard Hammond is road testing the Mastretta sports car.
Earlier this series, Homeland star Damian Lewis broke the record for the slowest ever celebrity lap on the car show.

For a sequel bursting and ablaze with special effects and offering far better 3D this time around – as it wasn’t done haphazardly in post production, director Jonathan Liebesman’s take on Greek mythology is surprisingly bland. Unfortunately for him, it’s a combination of bland script and even blander lead in Sam Worthington. Worthington is like the Nigel Mansell of the acting world; performing adequately and a rather likeable chap but never setting the world (or screen) alight.
It’s as though Liebesman relies heavily on his effects to inject excitement into Wrath of the Titans as the rest is a confusing and often eye-torturous visual muddle that smacks of the hell-fire visuals of Lord of the Rings – and you expect Frodo to pop up at any second and save the day too.

RedBull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel claimed another title to add to his collection at the Interlagos circuit as he snatched a record breaking 15th pole position from his team mate Mark Webber.
RedBull’s ‘WunderKind’ took the record set in 1992 by Nigel Mansell in the dying seconds of qualifying for tomorrows Brazillian Grand Prix as he crossed the line almost a second faster than Webber.
Webber himself had just pipped Jenson Button who was looking likely to have secured McLaren a front row place ahead of his team mate Lewis Hamilton but Vettels performance shuffled the McLarens back into third and fourth places leaving the Ferraris struggling to match the pace set by their rivals.
Fernando Alonso was the faster of the Ferrari drivers and had seemed to find the limits of his car better than his team mate Filipe Massa who was wrestling with a stiff set up that...

Senna is released next Monday 10th October DVD and Blu-ray and I still stand firm in my belief that it’s not only the best documentary that I’ve seen all year, but the greatest film that I’ve seen all year.
Senna is based on the professional Formula One racing life of quite possibly the greatest driver that ever lived, Ayrton Senna. The movie focuses on his life after transitioning from karting into one the world’s most prestigious sports. It doesn’t matter if you know nothing about Formula One, everyone needs to see this movie. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll be taken on a spectacular journey for 90 minutes.

This inventive documentary is more like a live action drama on the fascinating, contradictory Brazilian, going beyond racing
You don't need to know, or care, about motor racing to enjoy Senna. In sports-cinema terms, it's closer to something like Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno's Zidane than recent releases like TT3D or From the Ashes: an inventively crafted portrait of an exceptional individual. Yes, we're taken chronologically through the Brazilian driver's stellar track career, with team-mate Alain Prost as his Dick Dastardly-like arch-rival. But beneath the helmet, Ayrton Senna was a fascinating, contradictory mix of religious faith, boyish innocence, global celebrity and reckless determination; you couldn't have made a film like this about Nigel Mansell. The film's masterstroke is its exclusive use of archive footage, with no visible talking heads or modern-day interruptions. With so much recorded footage of Formula One available, it has been possible to fashion Senna...
You don't need to know, or care, about motor racing to enjoy Senna. My Ayrton-Senna-as-panto-villain stance had never been properly challenged until I saw a preview of Asif Kapadia's upcoming documentary
I have only the vaguest idea where I was when Princess Diana died, and hopefully you'll have guessed from the photo that I wasn't around for JFK. But I remember exactly where I heard about Ayrton Senna's death. I was in my dad's Volvo 245 Estate on the A1081 from St Albans to Harpenden, coming home from choir rehearsal. We'd seen him crash, live on television, earlier in the afternoon. They hadn't shown a replay. Pushing Button. Jenson Button after his victory in Brazil. Guess you really can have it all: handsome, model-dating race-car driver Jenson Button won the Formula One drivers’ championship last weekend in Brazil. The 29-year-old Briton extended his stay in Rio to celebrate, having reportedly been granted use of a teammate’s private jet for the flight home. To reiterate: guess you really can have it all. Before this year, though, Button had only one or the other. Born in Somerset, he was no child of privilege, unlike European race-car drivers of yore. He was an extremely gifted driver, though, and his dad borrowed gas money to get him to races. When, at 20, Button became the youngest British driver ever to join the F1 circuit,...
