Neighbor
Stars: America Olivio, Christian Campbell, Lauren Rooney, Mink Stole | Written and Directed by Robert A. Masciantonio
Made in 2009 and unreleased in the UK until now, Neighbor comes from writer/director Robert A. Masciantonio, whose earlier film Cold Hearts was famous for starring former pink Power Ranger Amy Jo Johnson. This time round his lead is America Olivio, last seen in the grindhouse inspired Bitch Slap, who stars as the unnamed “neighbor” of the title who wanders the suburbs of Canada, breaking into homes and torturing their owners. Which is nice work if you can get it.
Unfortunately for bachelor Don (Campbell, who also starred in Masciantonio’s Cold Hearts) our psychotic protagonist sets her sights on him and before long he’s hogtied in his basement getting drill, stabbed and all-round mutilated by the movie reference quoting nut-job. Movie references that span the gamut from Marathon Man to Happy Gilmore!

Director Rob Masciantonio who brought us the epic gorefest that was Neighbor has given us a heads up on what's next for him. He's announced his next project will be a short film called Fairyland and has plans to submit it to Sundance this summer.
Fairlyland deals with taking characters from myths and fables and puts them in a world where Soprano-types are real. There's a Facebook page set up for the short now so head over and check it out.
Personally I've read the script and it looks like a lot of twisty fun, especially at the end of course! There will be several Neighbor alumnus joining Masciantonio on this project including Pete Postiglione, Stink Fisherand Brea Bee with Josh Bender producing and you might even get to see a "certain geek" appear in it somewhere, who knows.

When Robert Angelo Masciantonio sat down to write and then direct Neighbor I wonder if he knew he'd be introducing us to a new character that would go down in movie history as one of the most brutal, unapologetic, imaginative, and comedic slasher-types simply known as "The Girl", that's right a female people! Yes move over Jason, Freddy and Leatherface there's a new female moving in the neighborhood and she has her eye on your zippers!
America Olivo plays our title character to perfection. The Girl is as entertaining from scene one to the finale and never misses a beat or a pulse for that matter. She lures her prey in with her " neighborly"charm (no pun intended) and then Bang, it's uh-oh time!
Christian Campbell plays her "main" interest Don Carpenter and goes through more torture, pain and abuse than I've ever seen one person go through in a...

According to Alienbee.biz, “Neighbor makes Hostel and Saw look like 'Romper Room'...” While I don't agree with the quote outright, I'll agree that Neighbor is a depraved film that does little to hold back its brutality. Directed by Robert Angelo Masciantonio, it has the right formula for a classic horror/thriller, unfortunately, its execution proved to be full of gaping holes.
Neighbor stars actress America Olivo, who is billed as “the girl”. She introduces herself under several different aliases, but her true name is never revealed. She plays a psychotic serial killer who roams an upscale suburban neighborhood, killing at her whim. The film focuses on her torture of Don (Christian Campbell), along with the many others whom she victimizes throughout this 90 minute film.
The opening sequence fails to waste anytime in introducing the graphic brutality that is a key ingredient in Neighbor. The events itself are pretty disturbing,...

Hey everyone! Sorry I was not around last week I took a mini vacay but now I am back! I am sure you all had plenty to read with Comic-Con and all! Anyways, there's not too much coming out this week but here's a few for you!
Clash of the Titans
If he is to save the life of the beautiful Princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos), the valiant Perseus (Sam Worthington) -- born to a god but raised as a man -- must lead a team of intrepid warriors on a quest to battle a host of powerful, beastly enemies. This sweeping fantasy epic, a remake of the 1981 hit, also stars Liam Neeson as Zeus, Ralph Fiennes as Hades, Danny Huston as Poseidon and Gemma Arterton as Io.
Starring: Sam Worthington, Alexa Davalos
Director: Louis Leterrier
This was not as good as the first one in my opinion. Worth a watch though.

Black Narcissus was originally released in 1947 and caused a sensation with its explosive story about a nun (Deborah Kerr), cloistered in a remote convent in the Himalayas, who must battle elements both external (the punishing weather) and internal (temptations of the flesh over duty to the spirit). Also features stellar turns by England’s greatest actresses at the time: Flora Robson, Kathleen Byron and a young Jean Simmons. One of the most dazzling films ever made, bolstered by Oscar-winning cinematography from Jack Cardiff. Cinema Slaughter Horror Fest makes its blood drenched first year debut in April and May 2010, with a couple of brutal, grisly and intense horror films. Both screenings will be held at the Leammle Sunset 5, located at 8000 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA.
Both directors will be on hand to discuss their films, as well as cast members and other special guests (Tba).

- During the world premiere of writer/director Robert A. Masciantonio's Neighbor at Fantasia, more than a few attendees squirmed in their seats more than a few times, especially at a particular scene involving a swizzle stick and a certain member of the male anatomy that doesn't stand a chance of making it past the MPAA's film ratings board. All this is to say that while Neighbor as presented at the festival was a blissfully blood-drenched film, don't expect the same version when it actually gets released wide - which it most definitely deserves to be. Playboy covergirl America Olivo (the Friday the 13th remake) stars as 'The Girl', a ruthless killer who enters unsuspecting people's homes and savagely tortures and murders them, all while helping herself to the comforts of their suburban abodes.
