A long-developing comic book series starring Diego Boneta has found a home at Amazon’s Prime Video.
The tech giant’s streaming service has ordered El Gato, based on the comic El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez. Boneta (Luis Miguel: The Series, the 2022 Father of the Bride) will play the title character in the thriller, a man who finds himself at the center of a vast conspiracy when he discovers his father was a 1970s vigilante, “El Gato.”
The project was initially set up at Apple TV+ more than four years ago, with Boneta attached. At the time, Robert Rodriguez was in line to direct and executive produce, but he’s no longer involved. El Gato Negro comes from Amazon MGM Studios — MGM was behind the show before Amazon acquired it — and creator Eric Carrasco (Foundation, Supergirl, Netflix’s upcoming Twilight of the Gods), who will executive produce and...

Diego Boneta is set to lead the newly greenlit bilingual series El Gato (w/t), based on the comic book series El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez. Production is anticipated to begin this spring in Mexico.
Boneta was previously attached to a project based on the same comic book titled El Gato Negro: Nocturnal Warrior from MGM Television and Mark Burnett in 2019 that stalled.
In El Gato, Boneta will play Frank Guerrero, the black sheep of his family, who finds himself at the center of a vast conspiracy when he discovers his father was the titular ‘70s vigilante. Frank, who returns home to Mexico after the death of his father and finds himself neck-deep in a nest of vipers – his estranged family – who are vying for control of his father’s business empire.

"Candyman" began its life in 1985 as a short story called "The Forbidden," originally published in Clive Barker's "Books of Blood, Vol. 5" (called "In the Flesh" in the United States). "The Forbidden" was set in Barker's hometown of Liverpool, specifically at a run-down building called the Spector Street estate, where a grad student named Helen went to photograph images of graffiti and poverty. While there, she encountered a mysterious monster the Candyman, a creature she assumed was merely an urban myth. The Candyman is covered in bees and sports a hook for a hand. Its origins are unknown.
In 1992, filmmaker Bernard Rose adapted "The Forbidden" into the feature film "Candyman," one of the more celebrated horror films of its decade. Helen was played by Virginia Madsen, and the mysterious Candyman was played by a menacing Tony Todd. Rose transposed the location from Liverpool to the Cabrini-Green housing projects in Chicago.

The lack of Latino showrunners in Hollywood is being addressed by the Alliance of Latinx Executives and Rise Up who are partnering on an advocacy program that will pair 10 high-level executives with 10 high-level writers from the community to increase showrunner opportunities.
Of the 500+ shows in production during the 2021-22 television season, and the approximately 6K writers employed by those shows, less than 20 Latinx writers held the position of showrunner. It’s the second-most challenging roadblock for Latinx writers after breaking out of the entry-level staff writer position, according to the orgs.
The inaugural group of executives includes Joey Chavez (HBO Max), Tom Lerner (A+E Studios), Adam Martinez (CBS Studios), Alejandro Melendez (BBC Studios), Michelle Mendelovitz (Mattel Television Studios), Edy Mendoza (Netflix), Diana Mogollon (Independent) and Nina Tassler (Independent).

The episode of Revisited covering Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was Written by Emilie Black, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Niki Minter, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
A long, long time ago, in a state deep in the woods, a bunch of people were eaten by cannibal hillbillies in a film called Wrong Turn. Soon, the locals to where the film was taking place got very angry about the depiction of their fellow mountain and wood residents, which they thought gave them a bad name. Horror fans responded by seeing the film anyways, making it a minor hit. The first film had a budget of $12.6 million and made $28.7 million at the box office. While this may lead to a sequel at times, it was not a given. Fast forward to 4 years later and we are gifted with the first of a long series of sequels.

The Vampire Diaries Episode 313 "Bringing Out the Dead" Written By: Turi Meyer & Al Septien Directed By: Jeffrey Hunt Original Airdate: 2 February 2012 In This Episode... Oh, where to begin. Klaus is surprised by Elijah's return. The two fight but eventually Elijah agrees to help destroy Stefan. The Originals have the Salvatore brothers over for a tense dinner. It is unclear whose side Elijah is on: his brother's, or his savior, Damon's. The Salvatore's offer a deal: Klaus gets his final coffin back, and he and his family leave town forever, and the two clans live their separate lives. Klaus counters by saying he wants the brothers to leave Elena,...

After this week's episode of "The Vampire Diaries," I'm clamoring for an Originals-only spin-off. The family dynamic between Klaus and his siblings is so wonderful, I'd happily watch an hour-long family dinner every week. The CW won't be keeping "Remodeled" around for long anyway, right? Open real estate!
In all seriousness, "Bringing Out the Dead" was one of the series' most poignant and exciting episodes, striking that elusive balance between supernatural action and emotional character development. It introduced two new Original characters and provided a surprisingly touching swan song for a character we weren't entirely crazy about.
Most significantly, though, it marked a turning point for the core love triangle of the show, thanks to an unlikely voice of reason: Klaus. Cue up your DVRs, kids. Let's get into it.
Previously on "The Vampire Diaries": Stefan continued to make no sense. I feel like I'm shouting into a void right now,...

The Vampire Diaries Review, Season 3, Episode 13: “Bringing Out the Dead”
Written by Turi Meyer and Al Septien
Directed by Jeffrey Hunt
Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on the CW
This week, on The Vampire Diaries: The Salvatores scheme, the Forbes grieve, and Klaus has a family reunion. Plus, there’s a serial killer in town.
It’s a transitional week in Mystic Falls as one mystery is solved in time for another to ramp up. After weeks of speculation, we find out Mommie Dearest is in the coffin but, luckily for Klaus, she’s in a forgiving mood. It’s past time for this reveal, which has felt fairly obvious for a while, and though parts of the episode feel a bit padded, this element is handled well. Esther’s appearance may not be earth-shattering, but Klaus’ reaction more than makes up for it. Joseph Morgan is great in this scene,...

For some bizarre reason The CW is preempting the upcoming week's episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Secret Circle" for a showing of The Covenant from 2006, but they'll be back in full force on February 2nd with their 13th episodes of the season. Another week, another great episode. This week it’s all about the hybrids.
So as you would expect Elena is still not giving up on finding Stefan, especially after the silent phone call from Stefan doing his ‘I’m so tortured inside’ thing last episode, which has lead Elena to believe that he can still be saved. Again glossing over the fact that he’s been away for months murdering innocent people and ripping them to pieces. Damon he’s not so interested in saving Stefan, I mean he did just kill his ‘girlfriend’ Andie right in front of him. So he’s feeling less in than brotherly mood and is burning everything he collected on Stefan while tracking him. Telling Elena that Stefan’s gone and he doesn’t mean ‘geographically’.
Talking of Stefan, he and Klaus are tracking through the woods carrying a lifeless Ray.

Last night saw the return of The CW's most popular show, "The Vampire Diaries" (which was every bit as good as we were hoping), along with the series premiere of "The Secret Circle" (the jury's still out on this one, but it does show promise, especially thanks to the adult characters Ethan and Charles); and as expected, they made a magical pair ratings-wise for the network. Along with the Live Plus Same Day Nielsen info for those of you who like reading that sort of thing, we have preview videos of the second installments of both shows to share - "The Hybrid" for "Tvd" and "Bound" for "Tsc".

Smallville has brought about some mixed reviews from The Gorgeous Geeks. Some episodes we found unnecessary, pure crap, entertaining, inspiring, and some even had the power of "replay". We noticed a pattern with some of our favorites: they were directed and written by the fabulous duo, Al Septien and Turi Meyer. They took the time out of their busy schedule to talk with Christina and Katrina from The Gorgeous Geeks. Christina: How proud are you of the finale for Smallvile? Turi: Very proud Al: We think it’s awesome. Turi: We think it’s the best stuff we’ve ever done. Katrina: I'm so excited now! Al: It was a real honor to be asked to write the first half of the finale. Kelly (Souders) and Brian (Peterson) have always been really nice to us and good to us. We’re thrilled to be part of it, because it’s...

Tomorrow night, May 12th, is the second season finale of "The Vampire Diaries". Considering the title of the episode is "As I Lay Dying", we're pretty sure someone isn't going to make it to Season 3. Who will it be? Check out this new clip from the ep to see if it provides any insight.
Episode 22 "As I Lay Dying" (5/12/11 Air Date):
The Bond Between Brothers — While Mystic Falls presents a screening of “Gone with The Wind” in the town square, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) memories of Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in 1864 mix with the reality of Elena (Nina Dobrev) in the present day. Stefan (Paul Wesley) pays a terrible personal price for his attempt to prevent a tragedy, and Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) makes a deadly mistake while trying to keep everyone safe.
More than one life hangs in the balance as the consequences of the sacrifice ritual play out to a horrifying conclusion.

Just one episode remains of this season of "The Vampire Diaries", and considering the title is "As I Lay Dying", we're pretty sure it's going to be a doozy. Wow! TV Line has unleashed a new TV teaser spot for The CW's Smallville and it rocks! Michael Rosenbaum returns in the series finlae as Clarks arch nemesis Lex Luthor for the ultimate 2-hour showdown. It was hard for the producers to bring back Rosenbaum who left the show back in 2008 but then in February he gave in and said he had to do this for the fans. Even Tom Welling chimed in about Rosenbaum's return; Having Rosenbaum back on the set was absolutely fantastic, because it was like he never left. We jumped right back into it. Who will die? We’ve expected a death for some time now on The Vampire Diaries. And, it looks like the season 2 finale will bring us just that. But, will it be a major character or one of our human friends who know too much? Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) have rekindled their old war of the hearts over Elena (Nina Dobrev). So, if Elena dies and becomes a vampire we may finally see some Delena action. Controlling one’s emotions when you first turn is usually impossible. So, Elena would probably be rearing to jump Damon’s bones.
The CW has just revealed the synopsis to Tvd Season 2 Finale, “As I Lay Dying.” There’s a lot of ‘hinting’ going on. We’ve speculated for a while now that Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) may be on the way out. If you read the synopsis, it leads more and more in that direction.

How do you culminate a ten year journey with a 2 hour finale?
Smallville will attempt to do just that as it wraps up Season 10 and the series with the apt-titled episode “Finale.” The CW has released the official synopsis of the two-part episode, which appropriately brings back all of the big names of the show for one last session. The episode description doesn’t tell us anything new, but it does point out that Kevin Fair has been given the nod to direct. He last directed the mediocre ‘Abandoned,’ the eighth episode of this tenth season that featured Teri Hatcher as Lois’ mom. However, he did helm the premier episode of Season 8, Odyssey, which was one of the best that season had to offer.
Of course, the other big draw with the finale is the return of Michael Rosebaum as Lex Luthor. Just who he’ll share screen time with has yet to be disclosed,...

Get ready for a Luthor showdown on Smallville. Well, not a real Luthor showdown – more like a “Michael Rosenbaum didn’t commit to returning as Lex, so we made Tess a Luthor showdown.” Tess (Cassidy Freeman) will be matching wits with Lionel (John Glover) for the right to claim the family name. Now that Rosenbaum is definitely returning for the Smallville Series Finale, the Tess Luthor story arc has even less steam than before. However, Lionel always impresses with sadistic drama (that is, Lionel impresses when he’s not acting as Jor-El because Pa Kent died from channeling Jor-El first). So, we’re confident that this will small Luthor tiff will still be worth watching.

The General (guest star Michael Ironside) and Lucy Lane (Peyton List) decide to drop in on Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) for a surprise Thanksgiving dinner. Clark and the General get off to a rocky start after Lois’ father bashes the superheroes and tells Clark he is trying to pass a vigilante registration law. Meanwhile, in an effort to stop the vigilante registration act from being passed, Rick Flagg (guest star Ted Whittall) lies to Lucy in order to lure Clark away from the farm long enough for him to assassinate the General. Lois is torn between making her father proud and her love for Clark. Turi Meyer directed the episode written by Don Whitehead & Holly Henderson.
