She was previously married to Frank Guerente, Paul Cornelius, Peter Schütte, Horst Fabian and Reinhold Tabatt. She died on 8 March 2005 in Berlin, Germany.

    German actress and singer, an embodiment of "Berliner Schnauze". On stage in Cologne from 1929. Her early career encompassed ballet and cabaret, as well as film operettas and lightweight comedies. She only made her mark in the early 70's as a dramatic actress in nine films directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Towards the end of her career was regarded as a national treasure.
