Édouard Molinaro was born on 13 May 1928 in Bordeaux, Gironde, France. He was a director and writer, known for The Birdcage (1996), La Cage aux Folles (1978) and Beaumarchais the Scoundrel (1996). He was previously married to Catherine Laporte, Marie-Hélène Breillat and Pierrette Carvallo. He died on 7 December 2013 in Paris, France.
