Tom Hardy’s 76% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Series Sends Taylor Sheridan Packing on Paramount+
Image
Only four episodes remain in the first season of MobLand, but Tom Hardy’s new crime thriller series just added another accomplishment to its belt. Earlier this week, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone prequel series, 1923, returned to Paramount+ streaming charts more than a month after its Season 2 finale. Hardy’s MobLand, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, has since claimed its spot in Paramount+’s top 10, now leaving 1923 to fade into the void after concluding its final season. MobLand was written and created for television by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, with Guy Ritchie serving as the primary director of the series. The show has earned average scores of 76% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also stars Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, and Anson Boon.

While MobLand has certainly been a hit for Paramount+ thus far, Hardy has a new movie streaming on Netflix that...

Shadow Force review – Kerry Washington overacts in low-rent action slop
Joe Carnahan
Director Joe Carnahan’s limply made thriller about an estranged couple of elite operatives is a lazy grab bag of exhaustingly familiar cliches

Maybe the new action movie Shadow Force is just deserts for film fans who complain when seemingly surefire big-screen hits such as Another Simple Favor debut as streaming-only releases. Shadow Force has a premise almost comically adherent to the fixations of so many big-budget streaming movies: elite operatives Kyrah (Kerry Washington) and Isaac (Omar Sy) must fight for their lives and their family when they defy the rules of their, yes, shadowy employers by falling in love and having a child. It shares familiar components including charismatic stars, spy action, domestic strife and semi-slapstick violence with projects such as Back in Action (Netflix), Role Play (Prime Video) and Ghosted (Apple TV+), among others. With director Joe Carnahan, it even has a once edgy stylist who used to deal in gritty grain,...

What Henry Cavill Did With The Witcher, David Corenswet Can Do the Same Magic in Star Wars Franchise and This Video Is the Proof
Image
After Henry Cavill, the next Superman actor also turns out to be the biggest nerd. We can’t help but celebrate David Corenswet for his love of the world of Star Wars. During the Star Wars day celebration, fans got to watch a video of Corenswet reciting the lines from the climax of Star Wars: The Trench Run, the video game from the universe.

Corenswet’s passionate love for the space universe almost reminds us of Cavill’s love for all things geeky. This nerd knowledge made Cavill a great performer in his role as Netflix’s The Witcher. Fans hope that Corenswet could pull off the same in a Star Wars role if he ever gets cast.

Image
Tom Hardy is currently starring in the new hit crime drama MobLand. But 13 years ago, he was competing with Chris Pine for the love of Reese Witherspoon in This Means War, which, along with the extended edition, will debut on Max on May 1.

Billed as a romantic spy comedy, 2012's This Means War follows two CIA agents, Tuck Hansen (Hardy) and Franklin "Fdr" Foster (Pine) who are also best friends. But their relationship hits a bump in the road when the pair find out they are dating the same woman, Lauren (Witherspoon). The movie was directed by McGand written by Timothy Dowling (Pixels), Simon Kinberg, and Marcus Gautesen.

Upon its release, This Means War earned approximately $156.5 million worldwide against a production budget of $65 million, making it a modest box office success. “You’d never know we’d just been canceled”: Nathan Fillion Doesn’t Get Enough Credit in ‘Firefly’ Scene That Was Filmed After Fox Axed the Show
Image
Nathan Fillion’s Firefly broke many hearts when its cancellation was announced. The cast of the Fox series still had a week of filming left to get through, and it wasn’t easy for them to pretend that everything was okay. However, they were a tight group of talented actors who set aside their emotions to complete the shoot of the series.

While the cast knew they were lagging on the ratings chart, the cancellation still came as a shock to many. Fox didn’t want to give the series another chance, as they already had another action crime drama waiting to take its place. Sadly, McG’s Fastlane too faced a similar fate and was cancelled after one season.

Firefly director Tim Minear recalled that he had to film Fillion and a couple of other cast members in a scene where they were telling funny stories. This happened the...

10 Best Jenna Ortega Movies & TV Shows, Ranked
Image
The entertainment industry chews up and spits out child stars like they're tough pieces of jerky (look at how "iCarly" actor Jennette McCurdy disappeared from Hollywood for instance). Resultantly, it's surprising when these young prodigies survive Tinsel Town's subliminal hit jobs and go on to have successful careers as adults. Jenna Ortega is one of the few who made it in this regard. She cut her teeth on everything from the soapie "Days of Our Lives" to the it-must-have-been-a-fever-dream "Richie Rich" series on Netflix. Then, she ascended to the lead in Disney's "Stuck in the Middle" and an important supporting role in season 2 of the I'm-certain-it's-a-"Gossip Girl"-prequel "You."

For Ortega, her acting career has only been on a meteoric rise, as she continues to grow in popularity and feature in bigger TV shows and movies, such as "Wednesday" and "Scream." But how do we determine and rank her best projects?...

Everything We Know About Masters of the Universe (2026)
Masters of the Universe (2026)
The Masters of the Universe franchise has been going strong for over forty years now, consisting of multiple lines of action figures, several animated TV shows, a bunch of comic book series, and much more including a live-action film adaptation that was released in 1987 and starred Dolph Lundgren as the iconic character He-Man. Bateman has been busy since ending his run on Netflix’s crime series “Ozark.” He co-starred in the streamer’s suspense hit, “Carry On” and is working on its new limited series “Black Rabbit.” Harbour is finishing up “Stranger Things.” He will co-star in Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*,” which opens in May.

Demi Moore Celebrates 'The Substance' With 'Charlie's Angels' Co-Stars
Image
"Good morning Angels!" And what a hell of a morning it is for fans of 2003's Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. The film not only served as a sequel to the 2000 hit film based on the popular television series, but it also was a comeback vehicle of sorts for Demi Moore, who had taken a break from acting following 1997's G.I. Jane. The character of fallen angel Madison Lee was created with Moore in mind and this allowed her to join Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu in the sequel with added female kick-ass for good measure. Now, with Moore riding high on the awards season love for The Substance, she has reunited with her fellow angels for a special Zoom to celebrate her performance.

Courtesy of Vanity Fair, Barrymore, Diaz and Liu reunited with Moore on a Zoom call to celebrate the actress's performance in The Substance, a film...

Lucy Liu Explains Bill Murray Confrontation on 'Charlie's Angels' Set
Image
Before Kill Bill, Lucy Liu had her big-screen breakout in Charlie's Angels, a 2000 action film that also starred Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore. Additionally, Bill Murray played a supporting role in the remake of the original television series as John Bosley. The Ghostbusters actor has been the subject of on-set misconduct allegations over the past few years, while past collaborators are now coming out with stories of their own. Liu is the latest former co-star to recall a story of a confrontation with Murray, this time for "inexcusable language" while filming Charlie's Angels.

During an interview with The Guardian, Liu discussed the long-rumored story about her on-set dispute with Murray while filming Charlie's Angels. Liu had previously said that her co-star used language that “was inexcusable and unacceptable," prompting her to respond strongly to his transgressions. The actress does not go into detail on exactly what was said, but it's...

What Happened to Superman Returns?
Image
Although superhero serials and TV shows had been around for decades prior, Richard Donner’s 1978 version of Superman marked the first major, studio-funded DC feature film in Hollywood. The film’s commercial and critical success led to Richard Lester’s acclaimed follow-up, Superman II, solidifying the late great Christopher Reeve as a cinematic symbol of truth, justice, and hope. Over 25 years later, the events of the ridiculous follow-ups, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, were bypassed by Bryan Singer to accommodate Superman Returns, arguably ranking among the finest cinematic showcases for Clark Kent to prove his protective might. Sure, the movie isn’t as fun-filled or enjoyable as a children’s superhero outing should be, but, as far as restoring the luster into Superman’s cape and proving the comic book hero’s box office viability, Superman Returns did its job. At least, that’s how most critics and general moviegoers felt.

Some of the silver screen's most entertaining and dynamic performers joined forces to headline the 2012 action romantic comedy This Means War, which touts the talents of Hollywood favorites Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy and chronicles their fun and progressively messy love triangle that forms when two CIA agents and close pals realize that they are falling head-over-heels for the same beautiful blonde.

Though This Means War proved to be a success at the box office and grossed $156.5 million throughout its theatrical run, critics were far from impressed by the big-screen spectacle, with many taking issue with its lackluster premise and humor and director McG's failure to utilize his talented ensemble cast. A Crying Jason Segel Weirded Out the Muppet Performers
Image
While Muppet fans are currently mad as Hell at Disney for scrapping the beloved Muppet Vision 3D theme park attraction, there was once a time when the Mouse House put a fair bit of attention and effort into celebrating the iconic felt characters they now own.

Most notably in 2011, the studio released The Muppets, a big-screen reboot that found Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo and the gang (plus some human beings) teaming up to save Muppet Studios from an evil oil tycoon. It remains to be seen whether or not we’ll get a sequel in which the Muppets put on a big show to save their offices from the clutches of John Mayer and McG.

One of the film’s human cast members was Freaks and Geeks star Jason Segel, who also co-wrote the screenplay with frequent collaborator Nicholas Stoller. Segel was already a massive Muppet fan, as evidenced by the...

Robert Patrick Is The Only Actor To Be Killed By These 3 Iconic Action Movie Stars
Image
Some actors are simply suited to playing bad men, and while Robert Patrick isn't a heavy every time out, the films for which he's best known for feature him giving good guys a hellaciously hard time. The one-time athletic standout at Bowling Green State University got his start taking bit parts in exploitation films directed by the famed Filipino filmmaker Cirio H. Santiago (his 1976 actioner "The Muthers" is a must-watch), and eventually found his way to Hollywood where he landed his breakout role as the liquid metal T-1000 in James Cameron's 1991 action movie classic "Terminator 2: Judgment Day."

Patrick demonstrated real range in '90s films like "Fire in the Sky," "The Cool Surface," and "Striptease," but for the most part Hollywood knew he could deliver the sneering goods as a villain, and he took these roles without hesitation. Henry Cavill's Favorite Movie Starred an Actor Who'd Play His Father 13 Years Later
Image
In late spring of 2000, a young Henry Cavill sat in a movie theater, his eyes fixed on the epic storyline unfolding before him. The film was Gladiator, and its star, Russell Crowe, commanded the screen as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a Roman general seeking vengeance. At the time, Henry was 17, and seeing his idol Crowe on screen fueled his desire to pursue a career in acting. Until that moment, Cavill had split his time between appearing in school plays and playing rugby.

In the same year, Henry and some of his classmates were invited to be extras on the set of Proof of Life, where they shared a scene with none other than Russell Crowe. Little did the teenage Cavill know that the man whose performance would leave such an indelible impression would eventually step into the role of his on-screen father in one of the most significant films of his career to date.

The two-hour telecast — set to air live on Ktla in Los Angeles from 7-9 p.m. on Dec. 8 — will feature stories, songs and celebrity guests in a quest to raise emergency funds for entertainment workers.

The inaugural telecast garnered more than $850,000, while last year’s raised more than $750,000. The MPTF team has set a goal of $750,000 for the December outing.

“I can truly say the industry is in a unique and challenging position right now as we find our footing for the future, and it’s up to all of us to band together and help those who might be hurting along the way,” Brown said in a statement,...

The Best Continuation To Friends' Joey Is This 24-Year-Old $264.1M Action Movie
Image
Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) is the only Friends character who got a spinoff TV series, but the best continuation of his story is actually this 24-year-old action movie that made $264.1 million at the box office. The 1990s and early 2000s saw the rise of some of the greatest TV shows of all time. Among them is Friends, which, even though it ended 20 years ago, continues to be very popular among older and newer generations, even if it hasnt aged that well in some areas.

Friends gave closure to the stories of its main characters except for one: Joey, the womanizer of the group. While the rest of his friends got married or reconciled with their lobsters and formed families, Joeys story continued in the spinoff series simply titled Joey. The series only lasted two seasons and ended up giving rushed closure to Joey, with the once-womanizer finally finding his partner...

10 High-Octane Action TV Shows With Female Leads
Image
For much of cinematic history, famous action roles were synonymous with male characters, especially on major television networks. There were, of course, female-led productions, but the closest audiences got to a female action star was Annie Oakley in 1956. The '70s offered more of a renaissance for powerful women in action roles, with shows like Wonder Woman and Charlie's Angels being huge hits of the time. But, the truth is, it took a while for women-fronted projects to become more commonplace.

The 1990s were a turning point for this genre when the world was introduced to Xena, the Charmed ones, and Buffy Summers. They were all capable female characters who were not only strong but also complex and well-rounded individuals, fully able to carry a hit TV show. Since then, viewers have tuned in time and time again, keen to see their favorite spies, assassins, and protectors doing what they do best in high-octane adventures.

Lucy Liu Is Open To Reprising 'Charlies Angels' Role in Possible Sequel
Image
Lucy Liu has reposnded to the idea of reprising her Charlie's Angels character. Liu portrayed Alex Munday in the 2000 movie and its sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, starring alongside Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. During a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the Red One actress said she was "never going to say no" to the possibility of returning as Alex. But while Liu is open to another Charlie's Angels feature, fans of the films shouldn't rejoice just yet:

"I don't hear much of anything until it actually happens. I'm never going to say no to that. But I would be surprised to hear anything that gets done or undone. You just never know until it happens."

Charlie's Angels and its sequel were based on Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts' 1976 hit series about three women working as private investigators for a mysterious employer named Charlie. The series' first season was famously led by Jaclyn Smith,...

Scarlett Johansson Almost Cast As Lois Lane But Her Fate Led Her To Marvel’s Black Widow
Image
Here’s how Scarlett Johansson’s fate lef her to be Black Widow (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Picture this: Scarlett Johansson as Lois Lane. She was this close to joining the DC universe in Superman Returns in 2006. But fate had other plans, and Scarlett made her mark at Avengers Tower instead of the Daily Planet. That detour? It led to her iconic role as Black Widow in the MCU—game changer.

Scarlett was in the running for Lois while McG was set to direct, with J.J. Abrams on the script. But when Bryan Singer took over, the role went to Kate Bosworth. Johansson’s near-miss? It worked out perfectly. We might never have seen her dominate as Black Widow if she had been Lois. And let’s face it, the MCU wouldn’t be the same.

Fast forward to 2010, and Scarlett made her MCU debut as Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2.

Image
Lucy Liu is game to listen to ideas for a possible Charlie’s Angels reboot and reprise her role of Alex Munday.

In a new interview, Liu said she was open to revisiting the character she played in the 2000 film directed by McG and in which she co-starred alongside Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz.

“I don’t hear much of anything until it actually happens,” Liu told Entertainment Tonight when asked if she had heard anything about a possible reboot.

Although there are no set plans to reboot the franchise, if there were, Liu said, “I’m never going to say no to that. But I would be surprised to hear anything that gets done or undone. You just never know until it happens.”

The year 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the film adaptation of the 1976 television series created by Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts, which originally starred Jaclyn Smith,...

John Mayer and McG to Buy Jim Henson Studios Lot for $60 Million After Rumored Bid from Church of Scientology
Image
John Mayer and Hollywood director McG have swooped in to purchase the lot that currently houses Jim Henson Studios for $60 million, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

According to a spokesperson for Mayer, the singer and filmmaker are “under contract to buy Henson Studios” after the Church of Scientology had been rumored to be circling the property.

Though that report was never confirmed, THR has learned that a father-son duo with strong ties to Scientology had a hold on the land before Mayer. Run by Steve and Shaun Fabos, Fab Factory Studios had plans to lock in a deal.

Steve Fabos is reportedly a major Scientology donor, while Shuan notably testified during Danny Masterson’s rape trial and was deemed a hostile witness after changing his testimony to support the disgraced actor.

The Jim Henson Studios lot has been around since the beginnings of Hollywood, housing Charlie Chaplin’s studio from...

John Mayer, McG Team to Buy Historic Jim Henson Lot in Hollywood for $60M
Image
John Mayer and McG have found their Rainbow Connection.

The Grammy-winning singer and filmmaker have swooped in to buy the historic Hollywood home of The Muppets.

“John Mayer and McG are under contract to buy Henson Studios,” a spokesperson for Mayer told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

It’s a dramatic reversal from the fate the property seemed destined to face. In recent weeks, the storied property — formerly A&m Studios and earlier Charlie Chaplin Studios — had been the subject of speculation that the Church of Scientology, already a major landlord in the area, was closing in on a bid.

In fact, THR has learned that the interested party was North Hollywood-based Fab Factory Studios, a music production firm run by father and son entrepreneurs Steven and Shaun Fabos. The elder Fabos is reportedly a major Scientology financial supporter, while the younger Fabos was deemed a hostile witness by the...

The historic Jim Henson Company lot, which started life as Charlie Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, has found a new buyer: John Mayer.

Yes, the singer-songwriter behind “Daughters” and “Waiting on the World to Change” has partnered with filmmaker McG to purchase the sprawling lot, located in the heart of Hollywood at 1416 N. La Brea Ave. The contract is in final negotiations as of Monday night, TheWrap has learned.

Mayer recorded his excellent 2021 album “Sob Rock” at Henson Recording Studios, part of the same lot, and filmed a performance video for “Last Train Home” (from the “Sob Rock”) album there.

Watch that recording below:

McG is best known for directing the “Charlie’s Angels” movies starring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore, along with “Terminator Salvation,” “We Are Marshall” and this year’s Netflix YA epic, “Uglies.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Has Some Harsh Words For Terminator: Salvation
Image
McG's 2009 sci-fi war picture "Terminator: Salvation" is an outlier in the "Terminator" film series, in that it's the only one that's not a time-travel story. James Cameron's 1984 film "The Terminator" was about a mild-mannered waitress named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) who found herself being stalked by a killer robot from the future (Arnold Schwarzenegger). A human time traveler named Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) finds Sarah and explains that, in his time, humans and intelligent robots are fighting a vicious, apocalyptic war. He also explains that Sarah is destined to give birth to a son named John, who will grow up and lead a successful resistance against the Machines. The Machines, in desperation, sent an assassin back in time to kill John Connor before his birth. Kyle Reese will protect her.

The premise of time-traveling robot assassins was repeated in 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and in 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Why Lucasfilm Chose Simon Kinberg To Write & Produce The Next Star Wars Trilogy Explained
Image
Simon Kinberg is officially working on a new Star Wars trilogy, and his background and experience makes him perfect for the role of writer and producer. There was a disturbance in the Force yesterday, when the Star Wars fandom was taken by surprise with the news that Simon Kinberg is working on a new Star Wars trilogy. Precious little is known about this project right now; reports disagree over whether it's officially Episodes 10-12 or something new. Still, Kinberg has taken to social media to confirm he is indeed creating a new Star Wars story.

View this post on InstagramA post shared by Simon Kinberg (@simondavidkinberg)

Kinberg's new trilogy joins the ranks of many upcoming Star Wars movies, but there's understandably a degree of skepticism right now. Lucasfilm has developed something of a bad reputation for behind-the-scenes drama, with a staggering number of canceled Star Wars movies over the years.

Terminator Salvation (2009) – What Happened to This Movie?
Image
After the still entertaining but undeniably sillier Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the Terminator franchise was ready for salvation. But what would be the next step? Arnold was fully engulfed in his political career; James Cameron would rather remake Piranha 2 than return; and per the usual for this franchise….no one even knows who owns the rights! This is What the F*ck Happened to Terminator Salvation.

A bit after Terminator 3’s release, both Nick Stahl and Claire Danes were recast to return as John Connor and Kate Brewster in the next installment of the franchise. Jonathan Mostow (director of Terminator 3) was also involved and helping with the script but a retread of Terminator 3 sounded dreadful. On top of that, the rights situation was once again a mess…. After months of fighting, lawsuits, and distribution hassles…. the rights to the franchise were again sold. This time,...
