Audiences who click play on Netflix’s “Falling for Christmas” will be the ones doing most of the falling over Lindsay Lohan’s much-anticipated comeback vehicle. Director Janeen Damian’s light-hearted feature, centered on a spoiled hotel heiress tumbling into a character-enriching circumstance, isn’t necessarily served up as the average cup of holiday cheer and rom-com charm. There’s a lot more to it than that. Its subversive spirit, female-forward smarts and sweet sentimentality remix the formulaic and festive, making all things merry and bright.
Wealthy, pampered heiress Sierra Belmont (Lohan) plans to spend a snow-blanketed Christmas at her father’s (Jack Wagner) exclusive ski resort with her narcissistic, social media-obsessed beau, Tad Fairchild (George Young). She anticipates being offered a job by her dad as the property’s “Vice President of Atmosphere” to give her something to do rather than spend her days idly drowning in champagne, caviar and couture.

This Saturday, Will Kemp stars with Reshma Shetty as David, an American in London without a gift for, well, gifts.
After a few run-ins with Anji (Shetty), a personal shopper, he decides to put his gift-giving into her hands.
The result is Jolly Good Christmas, which is a good old-fashioned holiday-romping rom-com. We caught up with Will to talk all about it.
There you are, Will. Hi, how are you?
Oh, I'm good, thank you. How are you? Carissa, isn't it?
That's me. Yes. And you're Will. [laughs] Are you Will?
I am Will. That's me as long as you are you, and I am me. We're fine. [laughs]
Good. So nice to talk with you today. Thanks so much for taking the time.
Oh, it's an absolute pleasure. Great to talk to you and great to meet you.
I've actually talked to you before.
When did we talk on? Remind me.

Lindsay Lohan is back and singing “Jingle Bell Rock” once more — but it’s not a direct tribute to “Mean Girls.” This time, it’s for her new holiday rom-com, “Falling for Christmas.” In this movie, it’s less “Mean Girls” and more “Overboard.”
In “Falling for Christmas,” set to hit Netflix this November, Lohan plays Sierra Belmont, the self-described “spoiled daughter of the hotel magnate.” But for her part, she really is trying to change that, openly saying that that’s not all she wants to be remembered for. Flash forward, and she’s being proposed to on top of a mountain — a very snowy and windy mountain.

No other casting was announced Monday by Netflix. Jeff Bonnett, Ron Oliver, Janeen Damian and Michael Damian penned the script.
Mpca has produced several Netflix holiday pics including the A Christmas Prince films, The Princess Switch films, Operation Christmas Drop and the upcoming A Castle for Christmas.

Lindsay Lohan is fa-la-la returning to the screen in a festive way — as the star of an upcoming Netflix Christmas movie, the streamer announced Monday.
The holiday-centric romantic comedy, which doesn’t yet have a title, will see Lohan step into the role of a “newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident,” per the official description.

Lindsay Lohan is returning to the movies and will star in a holiday-themed romantic comedy that is set at Netflix, the streamer announced Monday.
Lohan will star in the untitled film as a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who suffers amnesia in a skiing accident and finds herself being cared for by a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter, according to the film’s logline released on Twitter.
No other cast has been set for the film.
The Lohan film is just one of many movies that are part of Netflix’s litany of holiday films, including movies such as “Jingle Jangle” or “A Christmas Prince.” However, the film is not expected to begin production until November of this year, so the film isn’t expected for release until later.
Janeen Damian (“A Christmas Waltz”) will direct the untitled film, and Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver wrote the screenplay.

Lindsay Lohan, who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will soon star in a yet-to-be-titled Netflix holiday rom-com. The streamer has made a robust business out of Christmas fare, and its original movies such as “Jingle Jangle,” “A Christmas Prince,” “The Christmas Chronicles” and “The Princess Switch” (inspired by Lohan’s “The Parent Trap”) have become instant (and repeatable) holiday classics.
In this new movie, Lohan will play a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” (according to the logline), who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.
Lohan skyrocketed to fame as an 11-year-old actor, starring in a 1998 reboot of “The Parent Trap.” She followed that with a remake of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls;” both roles cemented...

Harriet the Spy is once again set to gather friendship-damaging intelligence, this time in the animated arena, thanks to Apple TV+’s green light for a new series.
Apple TV+ has announced its pickup for a Harriet the Spy animated series, which will directly adapt the iconic 1964 children’s novel of the same name written and illustrated by Louise Fitzhugh. The series, hailing from The Jim Henson Company and Rehab Entertainment, will have Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart) voice the titular role of young Harriet M. Welsch, joined by Jane Lynch (Glee) as no-nonsense nanny Ole Golly. Notably, it will take shape creatively under Will McRobb (creator of The Adventures of Pete & Pete), who serves as the show’s primary visionary as writer and executive producer. Titmouse Animation Studios will handle animation duties.

A decade into Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas” initiative, the demand for original programming is higher than ever, with more holiday-themed projects across platforms. But for Hallmark, the only true competition comes from within.
“We push ourselves every year to do even more — and ‘more’ may not mean volume, but to make high-quality stories, to learn from what we’ve done really well in the past, and see what we can build on, to engage talent we haven’t worked with before and at the same time create the family of talent that we work with,” says Michelle Vicary, executive vice president, programming and network publicity, Crown Media Family Networks.
Hallmark’s first holiday film was released in 2002, but its “Countdown to Christmas” lineup began in earnest in 2010. This year there are 40 original movies — a record number — and the first one made its debut before Halloween. Airing on the Hallmark Channel...

I’ve been busy at the TV Critics Association Winter Press Tour all day so blogging has been a bit slow.
Luke Perry and Jason Priestley were just here chatting up a western they made for Hallmark called ‘Goodnight for Justice.’
Earlier today, Billy Campbell of ‘Once and Again’ and ‘Tales of the City’ fame was promoting the AMC series ‘The Killing’ and Kellie Martin, who we all loved in ‘Life Goes On,’ ‘Christy’ and ‘ER,’ was part of a panel for the Hallmark movie ‘Smooch’ directed by the talented Ron Oliver.
Still to come this afternoon are the stars of ‘Spartacus: Gods of the Arena,’ ‘Torchwood: The Real World’ and ‘Camelot’ (including Joseph Fiennes!). Here to talk about the HBO movie ‘Cinema Verite’ will be Diane Lane, Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini.

1980’s Prom Night was among the first slasher films to come bursting forth from the post-Halloween floodgates and, while it doesn’t seem like you can find a positive review of it anymore, it was a big success then and remains one of the most enjoyable entries in the slasher subgenre.
When producer Peter R. It’s no surprise, then, that the filmmakers took note of Freddy Krueger’s increasing popularity and decided to take things in a similar, supernatural direction. What we have here is an attempt to create the next popular nightmare man (or woman). Hence, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II.

Groundbreaking director Kenneth Anger has been chosen as the recipient of the 10th annual Outfest Achievement Award, which will be presented at Outfest 2006's opening-night gala July 6 at the Orpheum Theatre. Anger's movies range from 1947's Fireworks to 1963's Scorpio Rising, films which pioneered the presentation of homoerotic images; in 1959, he authored Hollywood Babylon, a best-selling compendium of Hollywood scandals. In other Outfest developments, five projects have been chosen for the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, designed to nurture emerging screenwriters: Sebastien Gauthier's Fucking Preston, Luther M. Mace's On the Low, Samuel Park's Shakespeare's Sonnets, Dasha Snyder's To Do and Isaac Webster's Amos and Lowell. Outfest also has added two new films to its lineup: Ron Oliver's Shock to the System: A Donald Strachey Mystery, starring Chad Allen, and Phillip J. Bartell's Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds, billed as the first American gay sequel.
