After serving Jeff (played by Joel McHale) a beat down which doubled as a lesson on respect on "Community," Betty White's anthropology teacher was given administrative leave. In her place, we got a hilarious, though totally clueless substitute professor in Ian Duncan (John Oliver).
We did get a sneak peek at Professor June Bauer and it looks like she's back to where she feels comfortable - hanging with indigenous tribe members in the Congo where everything is simple. Well, not everything.

What did you think of last night's episode of Community? This week marked another go on AOL Television's Skype Second Opinions, where I connected via Skype to ramble on for a few minutes about this week's episode of Community ("The Psychology of Letting Go"), which included Shirley's best line ever, June Bauer (Betty White) discussing Inception with some African tribesmen, the return of John Oliver's Professor Duncan and his feud with Chang, Pierce's mother being inside a lava lamp, Annie and Britta wrestling in some crude oil, and more. You can watch the video in full over here at AOL Television or right below. Next week on Community ("Basic Rocket Science"), Dean Pelton asks the study group to clean and refurbish the Greendale flight simulator; after an accidental launch, Abed must navigate a safe return. (You can read my advance review of this episode here.)

What did you think of last night's episode of Community? While I've been raving about the second season opener for weeks now, I also was asked to host AOL Television's Skype Second Opinions, where I connected via Skype and rambled on for a full three minutes about Community's "Anthropology 101" episode, my thoughts on the fantastic opening sequence (set to Vampire Weekend's "Campus"), the most un-erotic kiss ever on television, urine-swigging June Bauer (Betty White), that sucker-punch to the gut, and Ken Jeong's terrifyingly twisted Ben Chang. You can watch the video in full over here at AOL Television or right below. Next week on Community ("The Psychology of Letting Go"), the study group comforts Pierce after the death of his mother; Professor Duncan tries to take over the anthropology class.

NBC's "Community" is about to start its sophomore year and the community college-set comedy is bringing out the big guns for its second season: Betty White. Everything White touches as of late turns, well, "Golden" and her turn as anthropology professor June Bauer is no exception.
But if you tune in for the Betty, stay for the love triangle, which has had star Joel McHale's character Jeff Winger having to choose between his gorgeous co-stars Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, and Lauren Stamile. And if that's not your cup of tea, the show's second season will feature guest spots from Drew Carey and Rob Cordroy, and will include a zombie-themed episode and a stop-motion animated holiday episode.
But while McHale, also host of E!'s weekly clip show "The Soup," may joke that the sexual chemistry with White on set was palpable, the truth is she gets to have him...

One funny granny that is Betty White has appeared in the latest promo of "Community". The hard-working 88-year-old apparently confuses herself of which next TV show she has landed a guest starring stint on.
"Hi, I'm Betty White. Watch me in the season premiere of 'Glee'," White said before a voice behind the camera reminds her that it's not Fox's "Glee" she's going to appear in. The intended joke is to promote the return of NBC's half-hour comedy "Community" on September 23. White is to play an anthropology professor named June Bauer who is highly-esteemed, but is questionable in terms of sanity.
On related news, it has just been announced that White would be a presenter at the Primetime Emmys Awards which takes place August 29. Announced in her batch as well are Neil Patrick Harris, John Lithgow, Ann-Margret and Jeff Probst. All of these personalities have won at the recent Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

There's so many ways to view the new promo for "Community" starring Betty White.
White might be feeling her age? Nah. "Community" may be capitalizing on "Glee's" fervent, cult-like fandom? Maybe. White already has her sights set on a May-December storyline with Mr. Shu this season on "Glee"? Bingo.
Before that scintillating role comes to fruition, though, the "Hot in Cleveland" star will be appearing in the season premiere of "Community" on Thursday, September 23 on NBC. She'll be playing June Bauer, a respected yet slightly loony professor of anthropology.
Don't worry, Betty, you're on a roll. "Glee" will come knocking any day now.

Welcome to your Thursday morning television briefing. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello and Andy Patrick are reporting that Amber Tamblyn (The Unusuals) will join the cast of Fox's House while Olivia Wilde is shooting feature film Cowboys and Aliens for Universal. Tamblyn has signed on to appear in a multiple-episode story arc where she will play " a whip-smart med student House (Hugh Laurie) recruits for his diagnostic team — despite the fact that she isn’t yet 100 percent qualified to treat patients" who will "have to find a way to adjust to her new mentor’s unique bedside manner." [Editor: as someone still mourning the loss of ABC's The Unusuals, I'm glad to see Tamblyn heading back to network television.] (Entertainment Weekly's Ausiello Files) Is there anything Betty White can't do? The octogenarian actress, hot off a streak that includes hosting Saturday Night Live, a slew of films, and a new sitcom (Hot in Cleveland) for TV Land, White will guest star on NBC's Community this fall, where she will play June Bauer,...

It seems like kismet that I was just this afternoon re-watching the post-apocalyptic paintball episode of Community over dinner.
