She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to Broadcasting, the Arts
and Charity.
Has a rose named after her.
In 1975 she became the first woman to read the news on national
television on a regular basis, for the BBC.
First appeared as a reporter on the BBC in 1966.
She was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2017 Queen's New Years Honours List for her services to Dementia Care. She is the Development Lead for Dementia Friendly Communities in London, England.
